Been reading some topics lately about how good *insert whatever brand you want here* dry food is but what I have noticed is how many people are also feeding extra's, ie, one feed might be dry but the next is raw etc. I have seen this about brands from woofbix to blackhawk and everything in between. So how do people who feed both know that the improvement in their dogs health, coat, poo etc, whatever makes you think the dry food you are using is the bees knees, is from the dry food when there is a lot of extra's? How many feed a dry food pretty well exclusively? At the moment I am feeding Supercoat to my dogs, I've fed cheaper and I've fed more expensive dry, I've fed dry half and half with raw, but this brand all the dogs like. And are doing well on. No gas, firm poo's, maybe a tad more of them but as I pick up twice a day not a problem. So that is all they are getting except for recreation chew bones - marrow bones cut in half, once or twice a week. Mind you once the marrow is gone there is not a lot of chewing going on. I fed all raw for at least 10 years and to be honest never saw any difference in my dogs to when they were fed only the cheapest stuff. The last few years it's been a bit of a mixture. Overall I've been feeding dogs for over 30 years now, most of that multiple dogs.

I had aircon on 24/7 and ice bottles, covered, when Fern had her litter in Jan 09. Pups were very quick to find the bottles when they needed them

agree introduce yourself to your neighbours, have a friendly chat and take it from there. If you are really bothered by the thought of the other dogs breaking into your yard, maybe you could get some pine poles or similar and place them along the bottom of the fence? Drill holes in them and peg them down. I know you shouldn't have to and they might not be needed but if makes you feel better to be proactive then go for it. -
mine all slept peacefully

I would agree with that

My Dog Is Not Agressive Some Advice Please

After the first time you see your dog in another dog's jaws, you might be be surprised what you're capable of. agree, it's horrible seeing your dog being attacked. I now opt for the protect my dogs first ask questions later. -
Where is the ignore option? go to the members profile, then there is a button on the right with profile options, one of which is ignore user

I've said it before, all dogs, no matter their breeding, deserve good homes. I don't get why breeders who are trying to do just that get it in the neck cause they won't lower their standards, just so someone can buy one of their puppies. As Raz ( I think ) said, damned if we do, damned if we don't
-
Fair enough. I just cant answer your question because I dont know. eta I probably can answer as a puppy buyer. What would I do if a breeder said I wasnt suitable for one of his/her pups? Find another breeder Make myself suitable Realise the breeder was right and I wasnt suitable Would i go to a byb or petshop with my knickers in a twist that the first breeder was being 'prejudiced'? Nup. Ah, but that's YOU - someone who is fairly knowledgeable about dogs, not just your average Joe Public, who most likely would then think that breeders were all snobs & source from a petshop or BYB so what, why should we sell our dogs to people we consider unfit for whatever reason

the blood loss must have gone to my brain I will try it next time ok and report back, but next time might be a while away, I hope
-
x2 no, I reckon neocort would be ok but I ain't trying penetrene so there
-
hadn't thought of that until you posted, I was worrying what the 3rd blood/injury thing was going to be, glad it's just a little thing compared to the last 2 lots

lets hope your puppy has a long and safe life. The pound is full, or not full because they are dead, of dogs who "but they have never wandered before".

who said they were the original poster in the thread in the breeders forum, made an informed choice, for what was best for their pup, end of story Agreed. That particular instance was the probably the right call. The discussion then turned into some breeders offering blanket no's to anyone with small yards/ apartments. Hence the debate, or you wouldn't be here Any one wanting a greyhound puppy from me who who did not have an adequately sized and fenced yard would be a no from me, no matter what other boxes they ticked.

yes I love spying on my youngest, he has a great time all on his own, I really need to video tape him

Just curious I sliced my finger open on a tin, deeper than a paper cut but not very serious. I've dressed it etc, there is a fair bit of blood on the dressing but it's stopped now. Which led me to wondering if I could have put the quickstop powder on?

you ain't seen a greyhound in action then lol. actually I have. That is why i said in an earlier post that Greyhounds would be a breed that is a definite exception to my argument. Remember? And you replied it's only the adolescent grey's that need this. yes but adult greys make excellent apartment dwellers, I would have no issuses letting an adult go to an apartment dweller who ticked all the boxes, one of which would be to provide a safe area for off lead (legal, no dog parks) exercise a couple of times a week. Otherwise they may find a racetrack in their apartment.

Good point. So if a breeder says no to selling someone a puppy based on unsuitable fencing, is that discrimination? is seems to some people any time a breeder says no it's discrimination
