  1. A friend of mine is currently looking for someone to help in a grooming establishment south of Adelaide - some experience prefered but pbviously a dog lover Mondays and Fridays and some extra around Christmas time. This person is a well known groomer (great to learn the tricky stuff from) and is a lovely person to work with Anyone interested ?
  2. sards soap first then whitening shampoo
  3. I have acupuncture done on my dogs and have used bowen also.
  4. Not a fan of Chiro's but glad to hear that your dog feels better
  5. You really need to puree the vegies for them to be of any nutritional means for your dog.
  6. It will definately be very expensive to feed your bernese and raise your saint puppy on the pre-made BARF patties
  7. I use the cool champions dog coats and thoroughly reccomend them. I believe having some sort of cooling is an absolute must if you wish to show during the summer months. Crate fans and misting spray can aid too.
  8. Bowen works with bodies soft tissues using very gentle specific movements to help reset and rebalance the body (including the skeletal system). Chiro works with the skeletal system and tends to need a little more force/speed for the moves and can provide relief to the muscles as well. Sometimes there are things that need to be dealt with chiro to fix, but i personally find that bowen helps with a lot more situations and more deeply.
  9. Poor Lola, glad to hear she's on the mend Vizzies can play so rough, can't they ?. Hope she's up and running in no time Personally I prefer a bowen to a chiro but that's just me.
  10. Definately ditch the cooked mince and veg - it's not nutritious. If your interested in feeding whole foods it might be worth researching the BARF diet or getting your hands on either Billinghurst or Lonsdale's books on the subject. On the dry food front I can honestly say to give Royal Canin a try, my own very fussy eater (whom I had to lace Nutro with goodies so he'd eat it) will happily eat this brand.
  11. $60 for vaccination (which included consult and thorough check up - so technically $30 for the C5)
  12. Interesting, this is quite different to my own understanding and ratio's. Personally for the newbie BARFer I see no harm with supplementing their puppies diet with a premium puppy food, an ill-ratioed or constructed BARF diet can be problematic with growing puppies. As for percentage large breed puppies are fed around 5% of bodyweight. Belijae - My diet consists of 60% RMB, if fed separately (meat & bone) the bone matter should be at least be half (30% of 60%)
  13. Chicken carcass, necks, wings. Pork necks, lamb/sheep necks, ox tails etc etc.
  14. Garlic has some medicinal properties and I too supplement with it at intervals, but as it's been said above care must be taken with dosage. I would reccomend to not stop using heartworm or intestinal worm medication.
  15. I've got a variety here, some dogs are fed half and half (half BARF - our own mix and half premium food) others are fed only BARF. It all depends on the individual dogs. IMO; I personally prefer our own mix to the pre-made brought BARF patties. As for premium foods I'd reccomend, Eagle Pack Holistic, Nutro and Royal Canin.
  16. I wish I ould find farmed rabbit to give the dogs here, so far I haven't been able to find it. I have however brought whole ducks, and they loved them :D
  17. I given them whole raw and also the heads etc when we've been fishing. As said above some like it some don't and some develop quite a taste for it. I've not had any trouble with the dogs managing the bones.
  18. There is a blood test that you an have done, and I thoroughly reccomend it - it saves alot of guessing and will be able to tell you exactly what your dog is allergic too.
  19. Just had another look the large breed puppy and canned products are better than their other formulas - I'm not sure what the current ingredients are for supercoat to compare though.
  20. I've not used the product before but just went to the link. I'm not a fan of formulas that use ground yellow corn in general, also they have split the 'corn' product up so when added all together it would be the main ingredient.
  21. I can't seem to get the Oz website to work
  22. I was only outlining that Bostongirl's statement of feeding glucosamine alone was worthless (or actually 'pointless') was incorrect Though glucosamine acts more effectively when used in conjunction with an adequate source of sulfur (MSM)
  23. I used to feed it to my horses, I doubt the dogs would eat anything with it in it, it's got quite a potent aroma. ETA: For the horses it's benefical for treatment and prevention of arthritis, and a digestive aid. It could also be mixed with other common supplement for an easy and natural electrolyte replacement.
  24. RMB's supply the correct ratio of calcium : phosphorus in a form that is more easily accessible and absorbed than any commercially processed form. With teeth, it's not only the teeth cleaning but also the stimulation of the gums that aids in dental health. Our dogs are given a supply of bones every day and they do not have any toliet issues
