  1. Ahh but there is a point to using Glucosamine on it own unlike your first statement there is a benefit to using it on it's own or not
  2. I would be interested to know where you got this info ?
  3. You need to watch your kelp supplementation, as too muh iodine can be toxic.
  4. I use it as a preventative measure, using a glucosamine capsule (hydrochloride - human one) once/twice a week and msm (human grade, animal supplement) which also aids in the absorbtion of glucosamine.
  5. We fees our puppies the BARF diet with Nutro
  6. I agree with Lillysmum, there are better foods out there available for the same $$$
  7. I've had older dogs front dewclaws removed, with no serious issues and had no need for the elizabethan collar. All healed up ok and the dog was bak to it's old tricks in no time I strongly believe in removing dewlaws I've seen what can happen if they're left on particularly on the more robust dog
  8. Try doing a search on the BARF diet, you'll find loads of information But as it's been said above raw if about basically feeding raw meat, bones and veggies (and some supplements like sardines etc) - no cereals or grains.
  9. Raw feeding is cheaper than commercial in general anyway, by buying in bulk would make it even more cost effective.
  10. we have scourban (dog) and electrolytes on hand for these circumstances.
  11. But not as easily as holding a leash in your hand, which imo is safe for you, your dog, or anyone walking by. I have a walky dog attachment and reccomend anyone to try one of these - very strong and I've never been pulled off using it.
  12. I too often wondered how they managed to get away with naming it Natural Balance.
  13. How long does it take to clean a juicer god I hope it's not an epidemic, I hope my processor doesn't die
  14. I know of dogs fed this, and as above they seem to need to be fed by the bucket load to maintain any weight, poor coat condition and my the amount that comes out the other end !! IMHO I agree with Leanne, you get what you pay for. I'd suggest trying a better quality kibble.
  15. So sorry to hear about Hope I agree with PF, minced chicken frames.
  16. I personally use a monthly heartworm (will not use the yearly injection) and 3 monthly general wormer. We are lucky to have never had a flea issue but do use a flea/tick preventive before travelling interstate (tick area's)
  17. Not sure where your getting your figures but approximately Nutro, Eagle Pack, Royal Canin start from around $77, Eukanuba $74 for 15kg bags. Some of the super premium range goes slightly over $90 but most Adult Maintenance are between $70 - $80. Edited to add; for example a 30kg dog (fed the ration as printed on the bag) would cost $1.55 per day to feed on Eukanuba Large Breed, making a 15kg bag last 58 days.
  18. Wow just went through this thread. If there was one dog food that catered for EVERY individual dog's needs then there would be only one on the market. Ultimately there are companies that do use better quality ingredients but ... As responsible dog owners we feed the food that OUR dog does best on .... not what someone's elses does.
  19. PF post prompted made me think I should say that the mince we get from the Butcher is not a pre-mix, ours is a preservative free mince we pick up from the butcher on the day they prepare it (it's a standing order), which we then make our own mix out of.
  20. Very true NAO, the % of body weight needed to be fed depends upon the dog's metabolic system, breed, age, growth state, activity, environment, current weight/condition and objective weight.
  21. Our mince is human grade direct from the butcher we get our own meat from. We get beef and kangaroo. I personally wouldn't trust any form of 'pet' mince not only could it contain a different meat source to the one stated or some 'extras' it also contain nasty preservatives generally sulfur based. Edited to add; We also get all the bones from the butcher and the chicken carcasses from the local gourmet (free range) chicken shop.
