Dunno. :D Just whenever, no classes for Rally out that way yet anyway. :D Sorry Trixie, you big girl now (In age, not size)!

My big brag for the day is that I think I talked ST into trialling Spartan in Rally and we might be joining Southern River on Tuesdays so you can have your English Setter perve.

Yep I mean the one at Canine from Perth club Amypie. Ptolomy, not buggered physically but tired from lack of sleep! Brother is back from Japan and his OH is interstate so he is back at home, kicked me out of my comfy bed and has all his mates round till the early morning makin nosie (yes I sound like a Nana! )
-
My helpful suggestion was giving Amypie Beans to run - that would clearly show her that the frustratin she is feeling with her dog is nothing when given a masters dog to run, with absolutely no skills whatsoever MY brag for today - I won second prize in the raffle - a spiffy new bar jump Ptolomy! My brag is 12 points towards Lincoln's title. I am sooooo tired after showing all weekend. But I did manage to take the dogs for a walk in the bush and Lincoln went for a big swim in the creek and the lake, he loves it.

Fingers crossed for Hudson! Nohing scares me more, my whole family knows the warning sings just for this reason.

She can prove the quality, she can invite potential puppy buyers to come spectate at flyball trials and/or show videos, ribbons trophies ect! The same goes for ADAA agility, disc dog, dock dogs, herding(not herding trials), working to the gun (but not gundog trials) ect. you may not have titles but you can prove it visually. People who do nothing (no showing, sports ect) wth thier dogs is not even comparable to someone who works thier dogs, just not in an ANKC recognised forum.

AT Perth? That will be Toby's frist trial since nationals. BTW Happy Bithday Trixie!

So sorry for you guys.

Our breed is a true dual purpose breed, though people have preferred style there is one single type, both for working and show. It would be harder to find a Chessie with only one type of title in thier pedigree then one with both. However bring a rare breed even in the country of Origin had helped us as we are not victim to fashions and BYBers as much as popular breeds. This is the intro to our standard: GENERAL APPEARANCE Equally proficient on land and in the water, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever was developed along the Chesapeake Bay to hunt waterfowl under the most adverse weather and water conditions, often having to break ice during the course of many strenuous multiple retrieves. Frequently the Chesapeake must face wind, tide and long cold swims in its work. The breed's characteristics are specifically suited to enoiiilable the Chesapeake to function with ease, efficiency and endurance. In head, the Chesapeake's skull is broad and round with a medium stop. The jaws should be of sufficient length and strength to carry large game birds with an easy, tender hold. The double coat consists of a short, harsh, wavy outer coat and a dense, fine, woolly undercoat containing an abundance of natural oil and is ideally suited for the icy rugged conditions of weather the Chesapeake often works in. In body, the Chesapeake is a strong, well-balanced, powerfully built animal of moderate size and medium length in body and leg, deep and wide in chest, the shoulders built with full liberty of movement, and with no tendency to weakness in any feature, particularly the rear. The power though, should not be at the expense of agility or stamina. Size and substance should not be excessive as this is a working retriever of an active nature. Distinctive features include eyes that are very clear, of yellowish or amber hue, hindquarters as high or a trifle higher than the shoulders, and a double coat which tends to wave on shoulders, neck, back and loins only. The Chesapeake is valued for its bright and happy disposition, intelligence, quiet good sense, and affectionate protective nature. Extreme shyness or extreme aggressive tendencies are not desirable in the breed either as a gun dog or companion. Disqualifications: Specimens that are lacking in breed characteristics should be disqualified.

Agility Training Talk Thread
RallyValley replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Toby has his first Novice Jumping run since Nationals coming up! He was almost got his first Q at nationals but after a clear (but slow) round he ran around the last jump and past the finish line. I have been spending time working on drive, motivation and working ahead so that I can hopefully have him working with more independance and confidence in the ring. -
So sad to hear Angelsun.
-
Yes but you would need to have an ability to drive the thing.

Very hard,if you don,t book soon the next option is camping or staying out of Geraldton. There aren,t many places there that will allow dogs. might have to see if i can camp with friends up there then thanks showdog You can camp on the show grounds I think.
-
Its September 18th and 19th. I mainly want to go because shows pretty much close over the summer right? And I want to get Lincoln as used to it all as I can before the break.
-
The same vet surgery (I think...) insists on writing Lincoln's and Toby's colour as choclate no matter how many times I tell them they are brown, esp since that is the correct terminology for Lincoln.
-
Congratulations, but at the end of the day if I was looking for a lab I would be getting one from proven show lines or field lines depending what I wanted the dog for. I don't think you a BYB nor do I think you are wrong breeding your dogs however I personally would not recommend to people I know to buy a pup from a registered breeder who does nothing show/sports wise with thier dogs with the exception being cases like RnL where the people live in remote areas. It has very little to do with you or the dogs but more to do with trust, I don't trust people, words come easy, title certifcates, written crituqes, inviting me to come meet your dogs at a show/trail and see them in action, now that can't be fake.
-
Personally I would never buy/breed from a dog who didn't have dual show/working titled lines because in my breed thats not hard to come by at all. I could maybe justify the dog not having a working (retrieving) title if it had some other titles that proved it had the intelligence (obidience titles) stamina (endurance titles) agility (agility titles) and potential working ability (tracking titles, working tests). To me the thing I am trying uphold is the name of the breed, not any show or working prizes, for over 200 years my breed has stood strong and stayed true to type. People spent countless hours developing the breed orginally and then ensuring it's wellbeing since. I am given the privlage of benefitng from thier hard work and it is not a responsibility I take lightly, so, if I found out people were breeding my breed without proving thier working ability or at least talking to other breeders (we are a small breed, we all of each other) about structure and potential then yes I would equate that with BYBing no matter if they did every health test under the sun and had good results from them.

Anyone else thinking of doing Geraldton in October?

Put a dinner plate in the middle and you can practice some Rally turns hey RS?

The Chesapeake Standard changed today. Plus if you aren't out reminiding yourself of the starndard and having other people who judge that standard double checking your observations it may become easy to warp the standard to what you have, not what it is.
