  1. thanks Tiggy...and there is nothing wrong with the bull breeds...they rock
  2. the assessment day is 18th September and they are hoping the training day will be the 26th September but they will confirm it at a later date....thanks for your comments it is nice when people acknowledge your achievements
  3. what a weekend....on Saturday I received an email advising me of the dog assessment day for the Delta Pet Therapy Program for Dezzy.....we went to OB on Sunday and it started off badly.....Dezzy was snapped at by two dogs for just walking past (poor Dezzy)....he stayed very close to my leg after that....we then went and did our OB training (our 2nd lesson in Group 4 which is all off lead) and Tamika took Jessie and did her childrens classes.....we were about to do our change of position and Jessie comes hurtling across and her and Dezzy take off....we called Dezzy back and he went straight to the instructor and Jessie came to me.....Tamika got Jessie back and we finished our change of position and continued class.....in the 1 min sit stay the dog next to Dezzy went up to him and started to sniff him all over....like a good boy Dezzy just sat there and loved it.....we finished class and was waiting for Tamika and Jessie to finish and was asked to stay back the Secretary of the Club went into the rooms and came out with three trophies from their Presentation Night..... Tamika and Jessie was awarded with most improved child handler and dog team....go Tamika and Jessie....Tamika was over the moon Dezzy and myself was awarded with most improved dog or bitch (saying I am not the bitch...lol) for the year and the encouragement award....once told about the story behind the encouragement award I felt so overwhelmed.....we got a trophy and our names will be put on a big trophy that stays in the club rooms I am sooooo happy as we attend an OB club that has 700+ members and to receive one of the highest awards for the presentation night I was over the moon Dezzy and myself will hopefully be trialling in OB soon (I just need to get over my nerves...lol) and hopefully we will get Jessie going in Agility....she is so fast I think she will be good at Agility or even Flyball
  4. I cannot believe what this world is coming to these days.....unfortunately the police obviously obtained the footage the "wrong way" but the footage was taken....what more evidence does a court need....hopefully karma will find its way with this person
  5. HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Mell G and Dogs Qld for such a terrific outcome....your tireless work paid off for all of us Amstaff owners and we can breathe a little easier for the time being I have followed Tango's case from the start and hopefully he will be returned home in the near future with better fencing to hold him in instead of wandering around the streets and being seized by the ranger which in my opinion started the ball rolling in the councils attempt to ban the Amstaff
  6. It sounds like we will be at the same assessment day....I was told September as well....I believe they are getting someone in from interstate or overseas to do the assessments.....not totally sure though.....I am sure Tully will be fantastic and I hope Dezzy passes as well...he just loves people and kids...he will sit there all day if he had someone to pat him and talk to him....lol....hopefully will see you on assessment day....am looking forward to it but a little bit nervous as well....I dont know about being left with a stranger but I am sure Dezzy will take it in his stride as I am sure your dogs will as well....will be great to catch up with you if we are at the same assessment day
  7. I have enrolled Dezzy into the Delta program....I too am waiting for the assessment day.....Dezzy passed his vet assessment and I have sent off all the paperwork a couple of weeks ago.....I belive TLC that you will probably go to the same assessment day as me in Geelong.....I know that a dog from Ballarat travels to Warrnambool to attend the hospital there and we are getting more and more places around Ballarat.....the only let down maybe is that because of Dezzy's breed some places may not let him in.....I believe that if he passes his assessment there shouldn't be a problem but the places that do let him in will be a bonus.....I am looking so forward to him passing and us attending hospitals, nursing homes etc and we are also going to try and get them into the special school here.....good luck at the assessment and if the same day I may even get to meet you
  8. yes i know where warrnambool is.....it really isnt that far away
  9. yes...i know exactly what u mean...when we got Jessie she needed fattening up but Dezzy needed to lose weight.....lots of supervision and Jessie is protective of her food from Dezzy....we can put fingers in bowl etc and she doesn't have a problem with us....just if Dezzy goes near it....now Jessie needs to lose a bit as well so they still get meat and vegies and dry food...just have cut it all back...lol....where abouts are you...I see u r in Victoria???
  10. thanks again....i like your doggies as well...they all look so cute......mine are big and we dropped them off at Zforce Kennels for a holiday and was told off because they are a little bit tooo fat...they have now started their Eagle Pack reduced fat dry food and tea has been reduced by half...lol
  11. thank you for your kind comments and yes they have lots of fun where ever they are but especially at Donna's who has lots of acres to run around....they are American Staffordshire Terriers
  12. Here are some pics of Dezzy and Jessie when we dropped them off at Zforce Kennels for their 2 week holiday.....whilst we take the kids to the snow......thank you so much to Pete and Donna from Zforce Kennels for looking after them for us
  13. So much has happened since February where we only spent 1/2 an hour in group 2 and put up to Group 3.....we are now in Group 3 and in the next couple of weeks will be put up into Group 4....this is all offlead and have trained with Group 4 some weeks and loved it....Dezzy especially likes the offlead work....a couple of weeks ago we competed in a mock CCD trial and blew it big time (I was sooo nervous) and I think Dezzy picked that up...but we did one of the best stand for exams and was rock solid in the sit and drop stays so overall was very happy....Tamika (my daughter) is doing childrens classes and has been put up to Group 2 in kids classes...she now trains Jessie and is learning so much on how to make a dog stand and drop (Jessie has a bit of trouble with these....especially the drop when it is wet )...she even got Jessie to go through a tunnel today when Jessie did not want to go in there....that is a start for Jessie to start learning agility and we might even do flyball with Jessie as she is so quick.....after class today I was waiting for Tamika and a guy with a Newfoundland approached me and was so impressed with Dezzy that he asked if we wanted to do the companion dog program....he is all for us going for this and is very supportive in getting the amstaff breed out there (Dezzy will be the first Amstaff around this area to do this)....he is going to bring the papers next week so we can start...so lots happening and I love it all ;)
  14. that is sooo funny....our dog Jessie sits down and lets them rip...sound and all and sits there as though nothing has happened....last night we had friends over and the girlfriend is a big mouth and knows everything about nothing...Jessie climbed up on her lap and let one rip...it stunk soooo bad and it lingered for about 10 minutes afterwards
  15. we got our girl from Zforce Kennels and couldn't ask for a better temperament for a dog and also is very good looking and the breeder is very helpful....the website is www.zforceamstaffs.com....she also has a litter of puppies on the ground at the moment
  16. when we first got Dezzy every toy I got him he destroyed in seconds.....we came across a toy called a Cuz toy....it is a ball with legs and has a squeaker....it drives u insane sometimes but he got the Cuz toy in November and still has it today.....still in one piece....he plays with it every day and when we got our second dog Jessie she also got a Cuz toy and she too plays with them every day and hers has still survived....even with them both getting one mouth around the ball and the other one on the feet and they pull and it is still whole.....you can also get good cuz and bad cuz and i think a duck and dinosaur...they are a bit pricy at $18.00 but in the long run is a good buy
  17. i have read through this post....i have 2 ANKC registered Amstaffs and my fencing is not great but they are happy here and live inside and never get out unless i take them out with leads on....i do OB with them and they are totally socialised....if it was proven that it was my dogs they would be PTS straight away but if it was not proven i would fight tooth and nail to save my dogs (which are my babies) little doggies......i feel so sorry for their owner who clearly loved them
  18. it was reported in our local paper today that the dog was found wandering the streets....very sad situation
  19. thanks altheau and shell....yes they do look calm but believe me at times they can be quite hypo and both my children love being around the dogs....the dogs even sleep on their beds at night...lol
  20. thanks for the kind comments becandcharch and ruthless....we were temp caring for Jessie but the home we had for her fell through so we have now decided to keep Jessie....have already started her at OB and hopefullly will start agility in the near future as Dezzy is a bit too big for agility so Jessie will be the agility dog and dezzy the OB dog....she has a great character and has learnt so much already
  21. Here are some pics of our two dogs Dezzy and Jessie with their new collars and leads on and also a pic with my daughter
