  1. HUGE congratulations kathq....would have been hard tracking through the water but glad your furkid never gave up and passed
  2. Congratulations on your Tracking Champion and your Test 4...you guys did so well.....well done :)
  3. thanks Kathq.....was a good weekend as I also was out laying tracks for other people :)
  4. thanks Tassie...I am sure you will be fine for your test 7....Dezzy has made me work really hard right from the start so I am used to him but we have some training techniques in store for him  .....Tamika will just be a confidence thing now and learn how to help Jessie when she loses the scent....I have one more chance to get Dezzy's test 7 at the end of July cause he has to have an op as he has a skin tumour that needs to be operated on.....if he doesn't he will be back for the last trial in September to try again but needs a few weeks off training which is not a good thing with him :D
  5. we have done this on our dog when she was tracking....I don't think it would work at the front of the dog as they tend to put their head down or hold it half way when walking etc.....we attacked it with a sticky mount but if we did it again would definitely get the helmet strap....it was very wobbly and was moving with her actions but was a lot of fun though
  6. my weekend at the tracking trial was a 50/50 one.....Dezzy was going for his test 7 but decided that playing was a much better option so about 100 metres from the end decided to just stop and refused to go any further...oh well maybe next time....my daughter Tamika and Jessie also failed due to Jessie changing the way she tracked and Tamika was unable to read her....will get this team going again with a bit of practice.....our gorgeous little girl Pink passed with a good score on her Test 3 which means she now has her Tracking Dog Title....I am sure the others will do better at the next trial at the end of July :)
  7. didn't see the documentary but our boy Dezzy when he had only been with us for one week was asleep on the couch in the loungeroom and got up and rang to our son's door and barked and barked....I got up to see what he was up to and opened the bedroom door and he went over to my son and started licking his face....my son was having a seizure....once he was satisfied he was okay Dezzy then went back to the loungeroom and went back to sleep on the couch....also when we were out doing our therapy work at a nursing home every time we visited a resident Dezzy kept licking the same spot on the mans left foot each time....after about 4 times of Dezzy doing this (as we went once a week) he thanked me for having such a wonderful dog as he had a problem at that exact place on his foot....we have never taught him to pick up these problems it is just a natural thing for Dezzy but our two girls have never picked anything like this up and have not even picked up our sons seizures :)
  8. I just saw the news link and I would agree in this instance because they got out and attacked someone they probably do need to be destroyed......the owners are at fault here for not restraining their dogs and on the link if it was one of the dogs it didnt look too friendly unfortunately.....again humans have probably made the dogs as they are which is a real shame
  9. Huge contratulations Kathq for your TD 6 pass....well done
  10. you have to fill out a form and ask neighbours to sign if they agree to you having the more than required dogs and the ranger will ring and speak to them and also a yard inspection will happen and if you are successful in getting a permit you have to pay $75.00 as a once of payment and then just pay the council registration fees for each dog every year...if one dog passes on or you get another dog you have to apply for another permit....that is in Ballarat Victoria and I think may differ slightly in each council :)
  11. ness okay didn't realise her age.....she has done well though by the sounds of things
  12. thanks Tassie and yes I have to get Dezzy hopefully his Test 7 soon cause he has to go in and have a lump removed and that could hold up his tracking season a bit....would be nice to get his Tracking Champion before he goes in for op and Ness you should go out and continue with your dog and tracking is a winter sport so just rug up and I find you get warm cause of all the walking you do :)
  13. congratulations Kathq on your pass on test 5 and also congratulations to RubyBlue with TD and I was the lucky person laying at the end of the track when your gorgeous boy found me and he had no hesitation in coming under the tarp to get his reward  I also had a fantastic weekend where our beautiful little girl Zforce Rock Ina Frock aka Pink got a very good on her test 2....the next trial in three weeks we will have all three dogs entered with Pink for test three, Dezzy test 7 and Jessie and Tamika test 6....hope we continue our good luck at the next trial :)
  14. if we go out our dogs are definitely inside with the air con on to keep them nice and cool
  15. i have Rogz and Lupine collars....I love both of them
  16. our tree is on a coffee table and presents put around the bottom of it even chocolates....they haven't touched it so far but when the kids put the candy canes on the tree one of the dogs grabbed one and had it eaten before we caught her with it
  17. I have just gone through getting a 3 dog permit on a average sized house block....we had to get all neighbours on each side (which I couldn't due to having ongoing problems with one neighbour) and at the back to sign the form with their phone numbers stating they had no objections to us having 3 dogs.....because of their breed and my next door neighbour I had to get mine temperament tested which the vet found very amusing considering I am very heavily involved in the local dog obedience club.....the next door neighbour made many phone calls to the rangers but in the end they got sick of her too.....I now have my permit and I even got names of people across the road in support (one of which was an ex ranger) lol.....I would suggest you go around to your neighbours and sign a paper stating they have no objections to you having a 4th dog....some councils are really stupid and my local council is no exception....good luck and if you want to talk further about how I obtained my permit please do not hesitate to contact me....I went through lots of visits and even with them knowing one of my dogs is a therapy dog :)
  18. HUGE to Exodus Foundation and RSPCA....what a fantastic program :D
  19. WOOHOO I got my order from Clean Run today.....I know of three puppy dogs that will be very happy and very busy xmas day and also I will throw in some pigs ears as well....I am sure they will have a fantastic time
  20. so so sad....RIP Harry and the dog....a real tragedy
  21. I had never had a dog before and then 3 1/2 years ago Dezzy came into our lives....he was 18 months old and had been obedience trained....I now have three dogs and love them all.....I feel that if I had of had a puppy things would have been a lot different with not knowing on what to do....I joined our local obedience club and have not looked back....we do obedience and have just started rally-o....in winter we also do tracking and Dezzy and I have gained our tracking dog excellent.....one more track and we get tracking champion.....I would recommend getting an older dog and making sure you go to your local dog club for training....when I first started at the dog club Dezzy knew what to do but I didn't and I learnt a lot.....We went from group 1 to group 4 (which is all offlead work) in less than 12 months cause as the instructors said Dezzy knows what to do but I didn't and I had to learn.....also if you have questions re: health, feeding etc dogz online is the best place to ask these questions as everyone is very helpful :)
  22. you are right Aphelion...the bumi wasn't part of the free shipping but I really wanted it so I paid postage....I am sure I will get the package eventually....keeping fingers crossed :)
  23. I got heaps of toys....good and bad cuz....kongs and a bumi (meant to be indestructable)....we will see as I have three Amstaffs....lol.....I received an email to say it was shipped on 2nd November and am still waiting....the tracking number says it was sent to New York and is in transit....I will wait the 30 days and see if it turns up....I have ordered harnesses before and they arrived in 2 1/2 weeks so hopefully will get our package soon (this is the dogs xmas presents) so I hope they do turn up :)
  24. that is fantastic Seita....at least the puppy came back that is so good and I believe it is a good brag
