What Can You Expect To Pay For A Saint Bernard
Esky the husky replied to frenchiegirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
I second that. You can't put a price on that early socialization. Find a breeder you click with and go from there. -
We can have SA lappie meets then You'll all end up with one before me at this rate
-
Whose next dog isn't a lappie
-
Unless you go up to Jeff's house *drools* Spitzs breed heaven I'll have a Lappie one day.. Then one day we can have a meet with a Lappie trio.

Blue heelers get really angry when they are too old to work, then turn into grumpy old men that bite people. Chihuahuas only bond to one person. Huskies and malamutes are a different sub species of dog Canine Lupus Lupus. I had a mal owner tell me this yesterday! Bitches always become calmer after a litter. After a bitches second litter her tits always stay saggy

Nope. Yard size doesn't matter. Currently live on 1/2 an acre with my boyfriends family(not by choice i assure you ) Anyways the dogs here are ridiculously unfullfilled. No walkies, none of that because they have a big yard. My dog on the other hand gets a bike ride in the morning and a walk/ bike ride at night. At the moment I'm full time study in the city, so all the time we spend together is valuable. She causes the least trouble out of any dogs here because she is exercised and mentally challenged. According to my FIL she spends most of the day asleep or chewing the bone I give her before I leave. So yard size CAN be detrimental if owners become complacent.

Regarding Breed Size And Coat Type.
Esky the husky replied to Esky the husky's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wow, this is all so interesting! I guess there are really no hard and fast rules then. -
Cause there are so many red merle GSDs

A while ago I was reading a thread about bull terriers with great interest. I read something along the line of you can mate a normal sized bull terrier to a miniature bull terrier and then the puppies get registered as Mini Bull Terriers. This got me wondering about all the dogs that come in a variety of sizes, poodles, schnauzers, dachshunds, xolos etc .. Does the same apply to them? Or would the puppies from a mini poodle mated t a toy one be considered mutts? Is the difference between a miniature dachshund and a standard dachshund the same as the difference between a can of coke and a 600ml bottle of coke? Same drink different size. Or is it like the difference between Coke and Pepsi? Totally separate unrelated drinks.? And what about dogs with different coat types. Are long and short haired Chihuahuas the same thing, or does a variation in coat type make them a different cup of tea entirely? (I'm not trying to poke fun at any breeders, I'm just asking these questions to satisfy my own curiosity

He is so cute by the way! I like the look of Aussie's very much. Stunning dogs. This boy is going to be a looker. Congratulations on his arrival

You need a new signature Gayle

I hope you guys didn't have too much fun  Boyd's shift got changed around last minute, and I was left carless
-
And Oversized husky cuddles will also be available

I would probably wait until Nandi is fully vaccinated before coming to a meet. All our dogs are vaccinated (I'm assuming I'm right here guys) But other people use the park too. And you can never be sure whose dogs have been there, and their health status

Ditto that. We miss you Jed! -
Will do - it's not worth it... eta: I am not anti crossbreeds - have owned more than my share, many friends have them and being a groomer most are crosses. If you are not anti-crossbreed what is the problem? There has been no promotion blah blah rules stuff Have you read the rules? * This site is for pure bred dog discussion The primary purpose of this forum is to promote and discuss pure bred dogs (as recognised by the ANKC) so we ask you respect our aim when visiting here. If you own a cross breed dog, you are also welcome here, but we ask that you refer to it by it's proper name (eg a pug-x or cavalier-x instead of the designer term 'pugalier') 4. No promotion of cross breeds / designer dogs This site has nothing against cross breeds (most of us have had one at some stage in our life), however we are against the promotion of them as being superior to the purebred dog and people cashing in on the 'designer dog' craze. We also ask that you refrain from unnecessary designer dog discussion. (ie discussion that has no real purpose other than to express dismay at the latest 'cross breed' you saw (or read about)). Sure, we all know they are out there, but we prefer to concentrate on discussing the pure bred dog (ANKC recognised breeds). 5. No denigration of pure bred dogs Speaks for itself. If you don't think pure bred dogs make the perfect pets, then maybe this forum is not for you. 6. No denigration of responsible, registered breeders and breeding practices Our site has a lot of breeders with a lot of knowledge to share. We will not tolerate members who denigrate (however subtle) responsible breeders and breeding practices. ETA Chewy this isn't directed at you
-
Yes of course all dog owners are welcome here And it's not so much cross breeds, as the unethical practices that come with their breeding that tend to get up the goats of those on DOL. By all means ask questions of the breeders on this forum. They are a wealth of knowledge. However topics that promote cross breeding are not welcome here, and anyway, why talk about that here. It would be a pretty one sided discussion Welcome to all the new members sprouting up

What Made You Choose Your Breed?
Esky the husky replied to haylz27's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have had 2 huskies. Ever since I was a child I wanted one. I didn't have an imaginary friend. I had an imaginary husky. I had one girl who died tragically at 9 months before I got my current girl Esky. Originally I decided I wanted a dog that would punish me for not exercising it. One that would chew, dig and destroy. No seriously! I was getting too big for my liking and wanted an exercise partner. Although I love huskies my next dog will be a Finnish Lapphund for sure. They're everything I love about huskies. Plus the cuddly personality my boyfriend and I really want! -
I would go for a stuffed Kong or something similar rather than a big bone.
