  1. I think you would be a very suitable puppy owner. I'm sure you're home a lot, and used to dealing with toilet time a lot Plus you can teach your child good dog manners from a young age. You never forget those early life lessons Sorry to hear you lost your lab :D
  2. Sorry was that unclear.? Yes I was talking about existing breeds recognized overseas but not in Australia
  3. So as not to derail the other thread about the AKC's 3 new recognised breeds I thought I'd start a new one for this discussion. What is the process of getting a new breed of dog recognised here in OZ? I know some DOLers have imported new breeds into the country. I hope someone can provide me some insight
  4. Just watch the spitz people swoon. I believe they are like Lappies. We don't have any here afaik. The breed isn't recognised here at least. I wish someone would bring the Norweigan Lundehund in. Fascinating dogs! I believe they're quite rare outside Iceland.
  5. We don't have any Icelandic sheepdogs in Aus do we?
  6. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...p;#entry4661530 Have a read of this thread (or the start anyway) This is what the auctions are in aid of. Jed is a highly respected poster around these parts
  7. Lovely shots. You've sure got some lovely healthy looking labs over there Also are those tollers I see?
  8. OMG you got to play with them! No fair no fair no fair!
  9. Oh so cute Maverick looks like you had a lovely day
  10. Wouldn't be getting that big Sorry poor taste.Much like the breeding that went into that dog. I'm sure that breeding would have been intentional too I think you'd need some human intervention to mate 2 dogs that different in size.
  11. So well defined is the same as a woman having really nice cheek bones?
  12. Hey, what does this mean? -From the Finnish Lapphund breed standard
  13. I wish Good luck in your hunt
  14. I freeze mine full of pet mince or tuna
  15. Not sure on the breed itself. But a general rule of thumb I go by with pedigree dogs, is save up at least $1000. You may not walk away with much change ( or it might cost you a bit more) but you'll walk away with a really well socialized pup who has been cared for properly. And hey if your pup comes to less than $1000 you have spare cash to paid council rego fees, vaccinations etc. I had a money tin where I put all my loose change. That plus picking up a few extra shifts at work, and I had pretty much paid for my husky :p But yeah do your research and talk to some breeders, even if they don't have pups at present they often refer to other breeders who do, or will pup you on a waiting list.
