  1. Both Blacktown and Windsor pounds. The RSPCA is over 1 hour drive, so wouldn't think anyone would take them there, but if they were chipped you should receive a phone call. Depends how far the dogs get before they're picked up by someone
  2. I know you all hate the RPSCA but I would recommend phoning them too because some people would immediately think of taking a found dog there. I really hope you find them.
  3. I had to do this with my mum's dog as my BC is an angry little so and so. I met her down at the dog beach about 10 times before I would allow them to be together in the yard. I would keep the puppy on a lead during interactions or in a pen because puppies can be really irritating to older dogs who don't have much patience. Good luck with it, it can take a lot of work but it sure makes life better when we can take our dogs to visit people with other dogs.
  4. You obviously really love your pup and want to do the best thing. My opinion is that if the dog/pup enjoys being outside during the day while you're working, then leave it outside. If it really doesn't like being outside, leave it in. Dogs like to sniff different smells in the air and hear different sounds, which they can't do if they're cooped up inside all day. I keep pups inside the house until they're about 5 months old because I'm concerned about them being stolen or hurt by some idiot jumping the fence. At the end of the day, it should be about what makes the dog happy, not the owner's opinion of what is best. BTW, that is such a cute puppy you have
  5. My dog has Aussie Dog home alone toy, swimming pool (clam shell or like), soccer balls, squeaky toys, big bones to chew on, and tonnes of other various toys. She could never get bored.
  6. I hope she wasn't Chinese ;) Seriously though, it's always nice when people do good deeds, it doesn't happen often enough
  7. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just put through an order then. Her soccer ball lasted for a while and it really was one of her favourite toys so I don't mind buying another. Tilly will be SO excited when we get that in the mail. She will flip out for sure. ;) Maybe you should buy 2 or 3 for later
  8. I don't know which state you live in, but in WA City Farmers have a similar soccer ball with two ropes. My dogs absolutely love them but they need to be replaced every few months. I have also seen the one in your picture on an online shop but can't remember which one it was.
  9. I made rice, chicken and vegies, put it in a cake tin so it looked authentic. Then I topped it with strawberries, banana and carrots, they thought it was fantastic
  10. I put rat poison in my roof and under my floorboards, the rats and mice don't last long
  11. I had a similar thing happen about 3 years ago, I was walking my dogs and a 12 week old staffie pup was wandering around and decided to join us. He followed me home so I put him in the yard and went to work. I was worried about ringing the council so kept him over the weekend and looked for posters or lost adverts and there was nothing. I rang the council on the Monday and someone had phoned them to report the pup missing so I got their details and took puppy home. He belonged to a little girl and I was so happy to be able to reunite them
  12. Mine is still growing and she's 13 months old At what age did she come in season?. 9 months
  13. Keep her indoors if you can or maybe a kennel run?
  14. Mine is still growing and she's 13 months old
  15. My Rottweiler had her first season at nearly 9 months and she was a bit moody and tired for 3 weeks She is purely a pet and her breeder recommended not to have her done until she's 2. I researched the internet as she didn't give me any reasons and I decided to wait until she's 2 because of the increased risk of Osteosarcoma in desexed Rotts. After all the stories I've read about Rotts having limbs chopped off because of cancer, I don't think I would purchase another one if it was desexed young. I keep her inside when she's in season so there's no risk of her becoming pregnant and she keeps herself very clean so there's no mess. Personnaly I see no reason to desex young if the purchaser is responsible and willing to put up with the seasons.
  16. Has anyone heard whether this dog has been found?
  17. Thanks Jax, I've already enquired into his courses
  18. I've been researching online dog behaviour and animal care courses and found a website petcarecourses.com. Has anyone here done this course and is it any good? I don't have time to attend a course because I work full time, but would like to gain some additional skills and hopefully be a better dog owner for it, I'm not planning on becoming a trainer. I'd appreciate feedback or recommendations of other distance or online courses.
  19. Riverside Gardens in Bayswater is fantastic, it's a huge dog park on the river with a beach area. Most dogs that go there are friendly and it's not too far from Mt Lawley. If your dogs are a bit dog shy there's practically nobody there during work hours. There are also a lot of dog beaches in Perth.
  20. I had never heard of these or seen them until tonight.........what a great idea
  21. It must be very hard to find beds for Danes, I know when I first started looking for big beds for my Rotti it wasn't that easy to find any decent ones, and your dog would need a couple of sizes bigger than that. I would learn to make them myself or find someone who custom makes them if I were you. That being said, we love Rogz beds, yes they are expensive but they are good quality and last longer than the cheaper beds I've bought.
  22. I rarely go to dogs parks now and when I do it's the least busy time and I keep to one end away from other dogs. They just aren't any fun these days The dogs have more fun running around the backyard safely together. Have you ever been to Riverside Gardens in Bayswater, most people are regulars and I've rarely seen aggressiveness between dogs down there.
  23. I haven't had a similar situation but I immediately put any charity on my "don't ever donate" list when they mail anything to me, I wouldn't like to think that donations are being spent on postage or stupid little gifts when they should be spent on helping the animals.
  24. I think a lot of people who don't train their dogs go to dog parks because they think it's ok to let them run around and interact with other dogs.....no matter how annoying they may be......ggggrrrrrrr, these people give me the sh*ts. My BC will do whatever I tell her offlead but some idiot always has to let their dog run up to her and harrass. Her body language clearly says "back off" and then she'll start growling with teeth baring and some people still don't get it.... This is very true furballs. People just don't get it. Please be careful with your BC in the dog park. If she is clearly uncomfortable with other dogs running up to her she may become D.A because of it. It is great for our working breeds to have a free run but not at the expense of their sanity. It isn't good for anyone to be consistently placed in a situation that they are uncomfortable with. Thanks Ilk, it's too late for my BC though as she now has too many mental issues due to health problems so doesn't go to dog parks anymore. I know what you mean though, a few bad experiences (or even one) can have a bad effect on any dog.
