  1. Awwwwwwww DD, thats coz the little monster girl you so much. But her 'uncle' Banjo will take her round, as long as he gets a run with his best luring mate Reilly as well. I am hoping a mystery interstate DOLer and her gorgeous dog will be there for you all to meet. I'm sure you can guess who it is .
  2. What a lovely comment. My smooth collie x is soft and will shut down like yours. I have gone backwards a few times getting excited and trying to get something too perfect, and he's paniced and I've lost what I had to start with. All the advice above is great. Slowly slowly, count to 10  , try again with a happy voice and relaxed body, while mentally going I must say though, the bond I have with this dog, and the one he has with me, surprises me every day. He just tries so hard to please me. I often wonder if its his 'weakness' that makes him like that? Any ideas?
  3. Wasnt it just such a good night? Lots of laughing and happy dogs, what a great group summer school turned out to be. I hope we can still get together sometimes to share stories and let the dogs have a play. Thanks so much once again Yogi for inspiring us and making training so much FUN these past 5 weeks. So? When does autumn school start? Here is a link to the photo's Nat took last night at break up. http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?showtopic=52109
  4. Oh, I just saw this too. So glad things went as well as could be expected today, and that she is back home already. Good luck, she is such a stunning baby girl.
  5. I got sunburnt too, and I was only there for an hour and half. :D Sorry I had to rush off everyone. I only just made it to the pub (er, the Baxter actually ICM ) in time for a friends birthday dinner. Great to catch up once again with some of the *cough* 'old' faces of DOL and sorry I didnt get to stay and see everyone have their runs. Banjo had a ball as usual. Not sure which bit he likes best, chasing the lure or kissing everyone (dogs and people) while waiting outside. Thanks Ishy for the puppy breath hit, *sigh*, you must have forgotten my address to drop them off as you went by? Nattles, fantastic photo's, as always. Geez you are good with that thing girl!
  6. I already came home tonight and asked Mr Hedds to make us one. He reckons its easy and I'm sure there are little engines and stuff in his shed.
  7. Nat is right FS. I think they are just trying to get it right now more and more of 'us' are turning up. A few times ago, ridgey people were waiting like the rest of us, for over 2 hours, for one run, when its their club day. Today when she started selling tickets, there werent that many people there, so she let people have 2 each. Last time I got one ticket, went back later to be told no more were being sold as the tickets they had sold would already make them run overtime. We are lucky the club lets the 'general public' run their dogs at all. They are always really lovely people, and I wouldnt want that ticket selling job for quids.
  8. I think you still graduate Goldie as the totally gorgeous Jake did your trick for you, as well as his own. That still counts doesnt it? Methinks Banjo will be the only dog who fails summer school. Though, maybe because our wonderful instructor was doing this at his pathetic attempt to spin and not fall over, she might take pity on us. (does that sound sucky enough?) Goldie, have pm'd you break up details.
  9. Anyone ever seen a totally unco dog try and spin while refusing to take his eyes off my hands and therefore nearly fall over half way round? Also, spin must ONLY be done in slow mo, coz if you do it fast, you might miss something........ Oh well, glad to hear everyone else is progressing as well as we are. Bummer about Chelsea and her season. Dont we have our break up next week? When do we have to do our tricks, this week or break up? If its a nice night and everyone agrees, I suggested to yogi that for break up we can have a bbq or snacks or whatever here? 5 mins from KCC, big enclosed dog yard with horses on the other side of the fence for doggie entertainment. What does everyone think?
  10. Er Herding Guy, I'm pretty sure no one complain about you for lack of passion. :D All the above. In a 'normal' obedience class, my pet hate is seeing my own (or anyones) dog shut down or switch off because it been 'working' for too long, and has lost concentration, then motivation and the instructor is STILL trying to get the handler to do the exercise. Why isnt it common to say 'he's had enough?' You see the same bored dogs, week after week. I honestly dont believe a dog that hasnt been training for quite a long while can be expected to stay attentive in a class for an hour. Its such a shame as eventually you see the dogs switch off after a minute and you know that team wont be back to class at all pretty soon. The only other thing I will add is even though dog training is very serious to many, classes where the instructor has a sense of humour and there is a bit of fun, always go the fastest for me. ;) Its a tough job, you guys that do it are fantastic I reckon. All power to you! :D
  11. Yey! Go Sascha! (and Beau) Wonderful to hear you had a great day. (psst, I told ya to go to David at Spring Fair.)
  12. Yeah Clover, it was soooooo funny. (and Nat is gonna kill me for telling) Um, I think it was $2 a run last time? Maybe $2.50? Geez, can anyone remember? I know last time I didnt get there early, and so many tickets were sold before me that I had to wait well over an hour for my go's. Also, they ran out of time for the number of tickets (runs) sold, so some people missed out or only got one go. Worth getting there on time or early. (you get a ticket with a number on it, and wait for the gate person to call your number to go in)
  13. Banjie says he will run right behind Indi, coz she has a cute butt and is really HOT!
  14. Oh, has Reilly lept into your arms from a retaining wall yet then Nattles? You are the only person Banjie has ever done that too. (thank goodness ) And *whispers* dont tell Reilly, but he is Banjo's hero coz Banj thinks he is tough. ETA: Picture this everyone. Banjo and Reilly up on a retaining wall walking along the bank, Nat down on the ground (Nat is short so nearly at their level ) Nat talking to Banjo is her cutsey voice, telling him how clever he is. Banjo moves to end of wall with toes hanging over the edge, wagging his tail flat out trying to reach Nat - Nat tells him again in cutesy voice he is a good boy and thats it. One flying Banjo into Nats arms. Except, Nat had no idea, so didnt put her arms out, so Banjo lands somewhere around her head and they both go down like a tonne of, er, you know. Geez, the things I wish I had pics of. (sorry Nat, it had to come out sometime)
  15. Clover, if Indi (or Ishy ) say no, you can run him with Banjo if you like. Reilly went in with Banjie last time, after never having shown much interest in the lure, and boy, did it work! Anyways, if anyone wants to run their dog with the big doofus, he is on offer. Jeff cant offer Max, coz no dog can keep up with him. The last couple of times, I think the DOLers have outnumbered everyone else!
  16. Oh no Nat. Is Reilly ok? I just found out I cant make it tonight either.
  17. Oh my, she looks very dangerous in that flashy pink collar Al...... ETA: Aw, that last pic is priceless. You must be so pleased.
  18. Oh no KK, my heart is breaking for you right now... ;) ;) Go in peace old man, be free of pain, knowing you were loved as much as any dog could be, and that time will bring you back to her again. KK giant :D
  19. YEY!!! I am so glad you updated this thread. Lots of DOLers have been wondering and wishing the best for you. :p Well done, to all concerned. Have a wonderful rest of your holiday, enjoy watching your girl play again.. :D
  20. Banjo says . But there were a couple of other cute girls quite interested in his 'outfit' last night. He came home and straight away checked out what to wear next week. He is worried he cant beat Toby's diamonds I really enjoyed last night. This group is so much fun, lovely people, super dogs and a very 'different' class environment.
  21. Offtopic one last time, sorry. Vet has just been, which means we will be at training tonight. And......................................................... ............... We have a black dot on the scan screen!!!!!!! She's in foal!!! Woo Hoo!!!! *dances round room* I am going to have a glass of chardy to celebrate I'll be the one grinning like a loon with the slick dog with gel overload this evening at summer school. Congratulations DOL 'aunties'. (no training here since xmas day Sorry teach, we'll be good this week we promise. )
  22. Ok, Banjie says tonight he is going to be Mr Smooooooooth, and Skye will fall for him. She wont be able to control herself, he'll be so cool, so debonaire (sp?) so classy, so unBanjo like He's got the gel out of the bathroom cupboard and is trying out different dogstyles right now. At least if nothing else, he'll slip right off her head if he jumps on it again. Here is madam 'maybe', I just went down and took this for you. The flys are terrible today, so she's all covered up, and filthy from last nights after storm roll. Whatya reckon? Do preggers mares stick their tongues out a lot?
  23. LL1, I've always brought my horses as weanlings, coz to pay agistment and breed is just not worth it and its too hard to be away from them. Now we have our own land, we hopefully will have the pitter patter of tiny hooves next year...... Now dont moz me you guys, if she's not in foal, we have to start all over again. I'm not sending her back to the stud though, I'll drive up the road with my 'bucket' and she'll get inseminated here. Mr Hedds says she's too busy eating his grass down to leave. Fingers crossed we've got a gorgeous foal big already cooking, with heaps of chrome and a head like its dad, not its mum. Will let you know tonight. ETA: Banjie wants to know why jumping on Skyes head wasnt subtle enough for Skye to know he thinks she is hot?
  24. Well, now we are way My girl is a pure wb, and she's been 'visiting' a big black spunky wb/tb up the road. Can you call AI 'visiting'? Hey! I have an arab gelding. He's 28 and I've had him since he was 4. Best horse I ever rode.... (dont tell the dumbloods that though ) Nah, Banjie was dying to play with Jake last week. He just cant understand why Skye is playing hard to get so he's trying extra hard with her.
  25. Nah, Banjie is fine LL1, thanks for asking though. Vet is coming to see if my mare is in foal or not, not urgent, but he is so busy and hard to get, you have to wait ages for an appointment. He rang me this morning and is going to 'try' to get here late arvo, so I can make it to school. Yey! Hopefully I shall see you all tonight.
