  1. For us taping is about providing support during teething, when the ears naturally tend to fold incorrectly. Some dogs will self correct after teething, particularly if they have larger or heavier ears, some won't and you end up with fly away ears. Support in the form of taping seems to help prevent the fold from developing to the point where it's permanent. We don't tape all of our dogs, only those who develop a stronger fold during teething. I taped Nova only a couple of times, Neo not at all, Feonix and Radar were never taped, Enya was. It sounds like your taping method is similar to what we do, DTDO, but we use 4 pieces of elastoplast in a cross pattern, and doubled over, which provides extra strength and support - I'll see if I can find instructions that I wrote previously, as they will probably make sense to you since you are already taping them in a similar way :)
  2. Have you spoken to Willow's breeder about the method that they use to tape ears? We have a method that we use which we find works very well, but it's a bit different to what other rottweiler people tend to do, and although very easy to do, it's really hard to explain  But, I can try and find a post that I made years ago explaining it, if you can't get easier to follow instructions elsewhere :) In the meantime, keep rubbing those ears every chance you get - if you're patting Willow, straighten and massage her ears along the fold to soften it, and do this as often as you can remember to.
  3. Yes, agree with you there HW - temperament has always been at the top of our list. This is hardly a new thing in the breeding circles that I frequent and grew up with.
  4. Thinking of you all xxx Hope the cortisone gives you some more time with Joey and helps to make him comfortable
  5. I got a very beautiful Aussie :) I didn't complete the survey though, as I was finding it too hard to ignore what I know about the breed and to just go by the photo, and as a result all of my answers were pretty much neutral.
  6. They can't use their purebred/registered dogs for crossbreeeding, but are free to cross any other dog they like, with whatever they want. So they can only breed crossbred to crossbred? Is that right? Which would exclude most of the F1 crosses currently being touted as so-called "designer" dogs. So if the add was for a first cross of purebreds, or even of one purebred to a crossbred, they would be in breach of the regulations, yes? Not necessarily. If they used un-registered purebred dogs they could do what they liked.
  7. I'm not sure if its "is that all" or more of "WTF??" here's the end result though :D And to think that they just had their 7th birthday!
  8. Nova goes and sits behind the curtains if I put a coat on her *insert rolly eyes* Like others said, just pretend there's nothing different and she'll get used to it :)
  9. When we were in Victoria and applied for titles, we only had to send challenge certificates from interstate shows, not from Victorian shows. For the Victorian shows we only had to list the details on the application form. Contact DogsNSW as a starting point and just clarify the issue, and then chase up the show secretary and see if you can confirm the points :)
  10. Now I can't get the horrid television commercial out of my head!!
  11. Don't you dare tell HER that - she's convinced that she is!
  12. *sigh* From the breed standard, regarding temperament: Behaviour and character. Being good natured, placid in basic disposition and fond of children, he is very devoted, obedient, biddable and eager to work. His appearance is natural and rustic, his behaviour self assured, steady and fearless. He reacts to his surroundings with great alertness. Ok, yes - good point! I take back my offended feelings.
  13. No, not seriously - it's a hoax website created as a class project :) http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/dogisland.asp
  14. You can cuddle Neo, as long as you agree to throw his ball too... Dawwww  Aren't they just the typical pose! If you've got it, flaunt it!
  15. Well, Enya wasn't really trying to fold herself very much, but she was definitely a determined lap dog :) But, she could fold herself when she had to :)
  16. Looks like the site has been hacked. The following code is located right before the closing body tag: <div align="center"> <font size="1"> <a style="color: transparent;" href="http://www.lowongankerjapasti.com/" target="_blank" rel="dofollow">Lowongan Kerja Terbaru</a> </font> </div> <iframe frameborder="0" src="http://www.lowongankerjapasti.com/" width="1px" height="1px"> </iframe> And this is in the header: <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.lowongankerjapasti.com/"/>
  17. I'd better get our platypus to read Google  We have two living in our main dam, they're often out together doing their thing :)
  18. The one with the permanent attachment in his gob? That's Neo - http://allerzeit-rottweilers.com/neo.html LIVES for his tennis ball - totally obsessed
  19. Oh Ish, I'm so sorry We used Robert McDowell's supplements with Stewie, and found them very effective. He had 10 months of high quality life, with very little need for traditional pain killers. He was on the Bone Cancer mix and the Maritime Pine Bark Extract, from memory - plus a totally raw diet. Let me see if I can drag up his thread from the depths and post a link to it. Big cuddles to Laila! Here is Stewie's thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/30927-osteosarcoma-and-stewie/page__p__442193__fromsearch__1#entry442193
  20. As a breeder, no problem at all with asking about price - in fact, if someone is asking about pups and doesn't ask about price in that first conversation, then I will tell them anyway. I want people to know how much we charge for pups. For me, it's the haggling that turns me off.
  21. Yes, this would get my back up a bit too, for exactly the same reasons. This also would irk me a bit.
  22. Our puppies are colour coded from birth as well, and like ellz, everything is then recorded in that pups individual record. We used to use ribbons, but last time used puppy ID collars that we got from Whelping Supplies :) The pups then graduated from those collars, to proper little collars as they got older, and by the time they were old enough for chipping they were all in "real" collars. Mind you, by that stage I can normally pick them apart without collars, just by personality and individual appearance differences :) We've never used nailpolish. Babies with puppy ID collars from birth With a "real" collar at just over 1 month old
