I think the problem is if you start to pay towards costs where do you stop? they will then expect more. I would go with what Rebanne suggests, either refund the purchase price and make sure they understand thats all you will give, or leave it as your current offer of a return. I wouldn't consider it your fault at all, you have no idea how the dog was kept, only what you have been told. What happens if they were roughing too much and the other one develops something, what will they expect then? My feeling is to do what you have already done, offer a refund for return of pup, if they don't take it up, thats it. once you start to offer assistance you are setting yourself up to be an endless pit of money, and they will see it as admission.

Just a random thought, you said 2 pups went to the same house, did they rough and tumble too much together?
-
I would have thought health guarantee's in a dane near impossible to give, as so much depends on what happens to them after they leave the breeder.
-
Must be pretty rare, could you contact a breeder and see if they know whose it might be?

CBE, please understand DOLERS are a very compassionate bunch, and over the years have dealt with many cowboy rescue's and trainers. This is a golden opportunity for you to shine here and show what you do. Don't be offended if you are questioned its important to know. New owners often come here to ask for a trainer in their area, recommendation is the highest way to go. Things here are a little volitile atm with Pound rounds relaesing aggressive dogs to the public and reaping in cash, the slightest hint you are near them will ring alarm bells. I would like to come to your open day and see for myself. I suggest you get your hanger on to hold their tongue, it doesn't nothing for your reputation. Stay with it if you are genuine and ride it out.

I don't know if Daisy is still here, but she lives there and has big dogs, you could pm her.

I just tried to reply again, but gave up, like you said dealing with so much stupid is wearing  I wonder if the staff at BP are copping flack? What do people think has happened to dogs week in week out who have run out of time, perhaps as they don't see it they think all dogs get homes from the pound. I wonder how crazy this will get and what lengths they will stoop too.
-
Yes i think its a great chance to actually show what they do without her being able to delete it. I would like to answer one poster who said PR don't release dogs straight to people from the pound but rehabilitate them first  I think we need to spell it out more, we know what happens, the public clearly don't, and judgeing by the comments it needs saying in plain english "yes thats excatly what they do".
-
Mine got in, there were some good ones, Jane and Elle Heck of a lot of nutters who think give a DA dog love and it will be fine ,or that staff at BP should all be Ceasar Milans and train the dogs  I am so glad they are being exposed for the dog brokers they are. Btw, which is the chief nutter ( leopaard print?) :)

not sure my reponse will get through, was as tactful as i could be

Adding a comment is a good idea as PR can't remove it, but i have written 2 replies and deleted them so far, not sure how much i can get away with! Its a good platform to let poeple know how they operate.

There is one at the end of my road, stunning dog.

Yep, my bully is on a low fat diet atm, we used to feed raw. The vet said i could either buy Hills ,but that Supercoat lite and mature was fine.( 7%) I did recently check them all out and saw the Optimune lite was only 8% , so would prefer that over Supercoat. I hate more poo and sloppy which is what she is doing on supercoat

I got a load of waffle back about how they randomly check generic meds. Unfortunatley the other 2 US places won't accept a script from an Australian vet.
-
Point taken. i wouldn't do it again, bit older and wiser now, i was just curious to see him move.
-
I had a friend who had one in the UK, very tough little terrier indeed. :) I didn't realise they were not recognized here. They shouldn't look anything like a staffy, they are a square looking scruffy terrier.
-
I have just eamiled them about it not being as good. I also emailed 2 other US company's to see if theirs are genuine Optimmume or generic too. So much for trying to save some money, looks like the 4 tube's i bought are no good.
-
I used to see a guy most mornings with his retired greys. He let them both off and they would toddle behind him . Often Red would play with my cattle dog chasing him, one day he kinda just changed in an instant, something kicked in ,my cattle knew it and stopped dead still and wouldn't move.
-
Hadn't thought of that, it came from a Canadian company, but then read they sourced meds from Asia.
-
I was always under the impression that generic meds had to be made up of the same products? My BT has dry eye, and i use Optimmume, however at $95 a tiny tube that only lasts 4 weeks i was looking at getting it cheaper. I found a place overseas that i could buy it for $18 a tube with a script, so bought 4. On the Optimmume her eye's were always perfectly clear, but since starting this generic tube ( didn't read the small print on the site which said it would be a generic brand ),her eyes are not as good, i have had to use double the dollop i used of Optimmume. The generic one is far more runny, Optimmume was a solid clear gel. So, has anyone else had experince with generic? I will be ordering Optimmume from another site with a script, more money ( $38), but still cheaper than here.

HA , i get what you are saying, but the land is boxed in by houses with me standing in front of the entrance, so he couldn't have got past, my street is a quiet dead end too. I wouldn't do it again, but i just wanted to see him run, he did 2 laps ( 3 acre paddock),and then came and flopped at my feet. :)
