  1. I would have thought by the time he was 6 months old ( if not before), he wouLd much prefer to be left out in the garden. He is a goldie, he won't break.
  2. " 2/3 hrs INITIALLY " implies you will be aiming for longer during the day, i assume this is what most people have picked up on.
  3. I get sprayed every year with no problem. The dogs go in the garage while he sprays the garden and outside of the house, then back out while he does inside. Don't mop, you will wash away the product.
  4. I have seen both being used around here and i liked the look of the Walky dog as it sits further forward, do people who use the Springer find themselve's looking behind to check the dog?
  5. I took my 3 out last night for a walk in the rain with their coats on and they waded into the lake for a swim  I love walking in the rain as no one is about at all.
  6. don't want to sell it to me i suppose? i am thinking of starting with my cattle x too. :)
  7. She has her parents going back home to fiji, but not till April.
  8. Thanks, got a slim digital one and some vasaline. All ok, temp was 38.3, and have done it 3 times ,so not going up.
  9. This may seem a bit silly, but do i need a long thin thermometer? and how far in should it go? My BT had to be taken to the vets whilst in kennels this week, her temp was really high and she wouldn't eat, vomited and so my vet collected her. She had bloods done and her liver was inflamed. I picked her up when i got back last night, with new antibiotics. They said her temp had gone down, and she needs another blood test in a week to make sure its nothing sinister, we are hopeing its that she has eaten something that has irritated her liver. She is flat this morning, although has eaten, and panting, so i wanted to take her temp ( vets are closed today). I have the kids thermometer ,which is digital, but rather large.
  10. i have a client from fiji who travels there regularly , she is in sat if you want me to ask?
  11. North west here too, it was nearly 30 at 9am this morning I didn't book any clients today so the dogs are in my salon with the air on. I kept spraying the budgie's outside, they are under cover, but i went to put ice in their water bowls and the water was boiling! Next time i will do it sooner, had no idea it would heat up so quick. I took the dogs out early for their morning walk, but my dally is already looking at me through the back door waiting to go for his evening walk! Think it will be a drive to the lake at the end of the road for a quick swim and back again to keep him happy, at 13 you would think he would give up on days like today! Starting to look like a storm is comming, windy and overcast, wish it would hurry up.
  12. I think if they are used to being seperated and he wants one, its a bit unfair for you to take both because as you say ,you want them both. Is he as attached to them as you? If so how would you feel to lose both? Its not going to be easy either way, talk to him, if he still wants one, try it, it may all be fine.
  13. There are lots to consider. Does he really want one? If he does, then why not try it, he may find it all too hard and ask you to take it. Are the dogs really bonded? If not seperate them, dogs adjust fine. Is one more attached to him? They may well be happier seperated, its worth a try.
  14. I buy my chicken meat in 10kg bags fresh from seven hills petshop. Its pretty "thick" looking. I buy 30kgs and bag it up nto portions to freeze.
  15. I agree, i would loved to have done it, and my dog is so laid back she was perfect. If money wasn't an issue i would still have continued, but for now it is. I think its a great shame they can't fund it properly to get the right staff for such an important job really.
  16. I do have a weighted backpack for my cattle x from Steve, but think you need more than that. Mine is to work him harder as he doesn't self exercise on walks, just follows me, then comes home and causes trouble  I can recommend steve too, has to be worth a try. There is a girl i see most evenings, she got what she thought was a mutt from the RSPCA last year, its a Malanois, with massive drive! she first started running with it, now rideas a bike really fast, makes her swim for ages across the lake, goes out for hours with her, but the problem is the more she does the fitter she gets. Its the brain that needs wearing out sometimes.
  17. I went for training after my dog and myself were selected. I really enjoyed it and was looking forward to doing it, but for me the pay was pretty poor. You only get paid a small amount and have to travel, do your talk etc, setup /down. And you can only work on so many days, i think 3 was the most ,as they don't want the dog working too hard. I just couldn't afford to do it atm. If you don't need a decent wage its good. I was sad i had to decline it after training when i realised how much was involved.
  18. The owner is at fault imo. Was it common practice to leave dogs tied to table's while staff all had lunch together? And was the owner aware of it, if so she is negligent. It sounds like she was on the premises at the time as she said she walked past and saw him hanging, therefore surely she knew the staff were on lunch? Sounds like shoddy care. I would go after her, no doubt.
  19. Caz, get everything down now, get the vets report. she sounds like she is sounding you out to see if you will do anything. RSPCA should be first call, do it all while its fresh in your mind. see a lawyer and sue her. i have no idea the pain you must be feeling of helplessness that you couldn't stop it.
  20. He's probably going to keep a low profile, so i would just report it now to council so they can find him.
  21. Can they really not be stopped, they are dangerous How about Blacktown press? Could the council be embarressed into having nothing to do with them if the dangers of one of these DA dogs escaping is pointed out to them? I really want to slap this person, its so frustrating!!!!
  22. Thats really interesting about greys, i had no idea, just assumed they were shown too. I had a client in the UK who bred and showed her greys, they were much bigger and chunkier, and darn good guard dogs too
  23. are greyhounds not bred to show here? could they not buy a pup from a show breeder?
