  1. No i havn't, others have mentioned it too. May look at changing to see if it helps more.
  2. I would prefer to feed roo meat with the VANS ,but its $5 for an 800g roll, whereas chicken mince is $1 a kg. Just out of interest to those who feed human grade meat, why? surely its more "messed" with than pet grade.?
  3. My BT has dry eye, she came with it from the breeder ( didn't tell me). She is currently on Panalog twice a day, and i use eye drops too to flush them out. However she really does suffer with it, she often grabs my hand when playing instead of the tug, and i was in the pool area yesterday and she stood looking around for me when i called her, i was only a few metres from her ,but knew she couldn't see me. Ihave heard there is an op that redirects the salivery glands? but very expensive too as its a specialist job. she is 5 now and i am wondering about how successful it is?
  4. After reading another post it got me thinking that my old dally could do with getting his hips checked out. He is swaying alot now as he walks, and oftern stumbles trying to get up banks etc. He is on mobic daily for his arthritis. He does seem to have full anal glands alot too. Can anyone recommend a good chiro, i am in sydneys north west.
  5. Wings and necks for brekky. VANS and chicken mince for dinner.
  6. One of them looks a bit rude, or is it me :laugh
  7. My main thoughts are breeders breeding to better the breed, regardless of whats winning in the show ring. We can all see dogs who can't move properly in the ring, i would prefer a breeder who may not show, but has healthy well put together dogs. I don't have a problem with breeding to sell ,or make money, if they can, as long as they are producing good health tested dogs. Surely what we want is joe public to go somewhere to buy healthy pet dogs.
  8. My brother is scared of dogs, mine live outside ,but one sleeps inside. If my brother comes over i wait till he has gone before i let the old guy in, unless it gets late, then i let him in. I try to be as accomadating to my brother, but not at my dogs expense. I find your rellies very rude. Perhaps an email, gives them time to think before they arrive would be a good idea, explain that you won't be making the dog stay outside so its not up for discussion when they arrive. Sorts it all out beforehand.
  9. yes, bear in mind if your lab comes back when called a sibe probably won't, i have only ever met one sibe who could be let off lead. I think they are stunning dogs and was offered one once, but they are not easy. A GSD would fit the bill, or a cattle dog, Aussie shep,Rottie? Actually the labs i have met play very hard, like staffys?
  10. I wondered about drumsticks too as i keep seeing them at woolies much cheaper than the wings i buy for them which are sometimes really small.
  11. No insurance, and to be honest i would say its both, cost and doing it.
  12. I know dogs who have been debarked and its just a raspy bark. If it meant parting with my dogs or debarking i would debark, no question.
  13. Thanks for all the replies, really helpful.
  14. Good luck too Nic. I had several lumps removed this year from my 12 yr old dally that came up close together down his back leg. Was all good . Will be thinking of you.
  15. Whats a brace Pers? do they have to be made to measure? Can she be on pain relief indefinatley? She is a sweetheart, i always say she is a "faulty husky" as she follows him everywhere offlead, loves everyone, so quiet, i am sure she doesn't think she is a husky
  16. A friend came over to me on our walk tonight to ask for advice, about his elderly husky, at least 13yrs old. "Trin" his old girl was playing with 2 very big labs on friday ( i avoid them, pita, and over 50kgs ), he bent down to poop scoop and when he looked up she was wimpering and holding her back leg up. he took her to the emergency vet, not our normal one, who did x-rays and said it was her cruciate, and would cost $3000 to fix. she is on meds ,something beginning with P, i forgot. she is very doddery, i have known her the last 10 yrs, lovely old chook who potters around the oval each night, she is arthtitic too. He said he doesn't want to put her through the surgery if he can give her a pain free life without it.Can you? or is surgery the only way. Any suggestions?
  17. I found it an interesting series. The first trainers in Canada i liked. South African one i didn't. Hollywood one was cringeable. Sled dogs, not sure about, the dogs seemed very scared of the handlers, they backed away when food was given to them, and would only gobble it up when he moved away, he also tried to pat one once and it looked very uncomfortable with its tail between its legs. However the dogs were clearly doing something they loved, and perhaps never normally got affection.
  18. wow, i thought spitz too. i agree, way nicer being a bit bigger, and love his colour.
  19. mature doesn't mean the same as old, or they would say senior, its exactly that, a mature dog.
  20. Tips for dog parks. Stand outside for a while and observe the other dogs and owners, if any dog bothers you wait till they leave. If your dog becomes uncomfortable at any time, leave. Don't be afraid to protect your own dog and upsetting the owner, i happily pull off any dog who thinks its ok to hump my dog, if they continue i tell the owner to do something about it or i leave.( or both) I havn't been for a while as i get fed up with becomming 'the crazy dog women" when i was there.
  21. I would have just i'd him as scruffy terrier, unless a breed in a x stands out a mile i would never risk it.
