    Crating A Puppy

Aso, i would suggest a run outside too, tiered gardens are a real worry to any pup and you can't supervise all the time. Nothing the landlord can do about it either. As far as the neighbours dogs go, report them! what happens if they pop over the fence while you are there with your pup and attack/scare him? when a neighbour got a new pup she paid me to go in once a day for an hour to play with him, check his water etc, and then feed him, i also took one of my dogs each time for a little play with him.Do you have anyone who could do that for you? I think the reson you got attacked so harshly was for the first few pages not one person said it was ok to crate for that long, yet you still said you were going to. glad to see you are taking it all onboard, we are an emotional lot when it comes to our dogs, but there are many here you can learn from . :)
  2. We overthink things too much instead of dealing in the now. My rescue cattle is terrified of the hose, but nothing bad has ever happened to him with one, and i have had him since he was 7weeks old. If he went to a new home it may be assumed he was beaten with one.
  3. i have a cardigan corgi in my street and they are pretty chunky robust dogs. i would say corgi x too.
  4. I have double leather and chain martingale collars from "Karmacollars", handmade and guaranteed for life.
  5. I got rushed last night by 2 labs who pulled their 70 yr old owner over, he let go of the leads. The female is aggro, i tried with 3 onlead dogs to get between them until the guy got up and grabbed them. I then tried as nicely as i could to explain that perhaps trying to hold 2 very large labs ( he said they were 56, and 47 kgs!), on flat collars was not a good idea. His response was that they were just excitable, and wouldn't do any harm ( male is dominat, mounts other dogs, female has a go at anything in range), that they have just moved from acerage so they are not used to other dogs. I had just watched him earlier with both offlead rush a BC, he grabbed the female who was having a go ,but then couldn't get the boy as it wouldn't leave the BC alone, and he couldn't get close with the female kicking off to grab him, bloody chaos! I am surrounded by idiots  I then went home and my dally puked all over my persian rug, and my kids smashed the microwave plate, not a great day
  6. I can't stand the RSPCA, but thats irrelavent, your friend needs to stop the dog escaping. It doesn't matter if the dogs comes back or is friendly, ( clearly when bailed up it isn't),these days its too risky, he could cause an accident for a start. Its her responsibility to the dog to make him safe.
  7. There is a difference between dogs in front yards not contained, the op was about a dog that was behind a fence. I have no problem at all with this, and as i said, one day when i retire i would a little house where i can sit out front with my dogs. :)
  8. I second the water pistol, or a big stick. You may find its all show, i often get little dogs charging upto my 3, they generally only get so close before they back off, one did run behind us and try and bite one of mine on the back leg ( little shit, being walked on a road by a guy offlead, did it again the next day too!), but he got a swift kick. You have to live there, so i would try and see what happens, once it gets used to you it may get easier, perhaps it would be easier to try when the dog is there and not the guy.
  9. I really like chrome, and Sabbath will save them for later  I have had , Roadie, Muttley, Munroe, Bullet,Disney, and Nudge.
  10. Hey, glad you are ok, it must be empty without the big guy around. Will you ever get another DR? or is it too painful.
  11. Edited cause i can't be bothered,and not worth a warning
  12. So its ok to hand your foster dog over to anyone who applies for it, as its a home, which is the main thing?
  13. Actually Shmoo knows BP very well, and was the one saying it was under control.( no offence Shmoo, i have no axe to grind with you, sorry). I had assumed that the EOI being placed was to buy him ,not a rescue one, as its the only way to make sure you do.
  14. It may well be a great home, i am still curious as to why BP 'lost' the EOI placed though. All i was trying to say was had it been made clear that the EOI being placed on him was just a rescue one ( meaning you only get him if no one else wants him), rather than ,its sorted ,he will be comming to us, people who wanted him could have made the move themselve's. He clearly wasn't safe and sorted, and that needed to be conveyed.
  15. DD, i didn't want the dog myself, i was offering to go and buy him so he got into suitable rescue :D
  16. Shame my offer was taken up, i live 10 mins away and would have gone in person put in an EOI, and said i wanted to adopt him myself to get him first. Communication seems to have been lacking in this thread, and its backfired. Lets hope whoever does get their hands on him they know what they are doing and care for him.
  17. Wonder who BP are pushing to the top of the list, smells fishy.
  18. Unlike now when we have far too many dogs :D
  19. my lot are outside, so although i do pickup as soon as i see one, i know when i have missed one as she is licking her lips  stopping her on walks is impossible, onlead she still grabs it before i have even seen it, she has a radar!
  20. Actually all of the rescue's i have worked with have taken dogs back with zero warning, its what makes them a good rescue, if they don't have foster space the dog goes into a kennel till it does, and foots the bill. Why can't a breeder do the same for their own if they won't have them at home? It is black and white, clear up your own mess :)
  21. I thought he was already sorted last week, posts gave the impression it was all in hand, shame i could have put an EOI on him to buy him last week had i known.
  22. I actually turned over last night, i couldn't bear to watch any more of the boarding ranch with too many dogs loose together, and then being shut in tiny crates all night. They trained the dogs to sit by pushing them down aswell. I got frutrated and watched A Nights Tale instead.
