  1. I have nothing but praise for Advantix. Have used it on 4 dogs for over 5 years, never seen a flea or tick on my dogs, despite regularly visiting high tick areas. However not so much praise goes to Frontline...used it for a year at the time I had dogs, that was fine, but then we started seeing many fleas again. And I'm not the only one, I work in a petshop and have had a fair bit of negative feedback from Frontline. I just wouldn't risk it. But then again, we could all be getting dud packets!
  2. Have you ever looked up Australian Shepherds? They are similar to border collies, but not as much go, and not so serious. My boy is very well trained, always making me laugh, and looks just beautiful too. He can go a day without a walk, but once he's out, will try his best to keep up. Very very affectionate too. I agree with what most have said about cross-breeding...people doing it deliberately will be in it for the money, they are not following breeders COE, and you just don't know what you'll end up with. If you want a cross-breed please don't support these people, but rather, support rescue. If you're after a pure bred, then support an ethical breeder. Good luck with your search and please keep us updated :D
  3. Aw how cute is she! Congrats! Keen for th 2014 QLD trial! Definately wanting to go, will have to work very hard with my boys for the next...2 years

  10. Congrats to all the winners Looks like the borders really dominate the competiton  Wow Luke, I would've have expected so many breeds! Would be awesome to watch the giants and the teeny-tinys :D I hate when my dogs are do so well in a run but my handling stuffs them up  Oh well, as you said, you've got more runs and good luck with those ones :) amypie, well done with your passes Good luck for your next runs in the outdoor arena! Are there any cattle dogs competing out there?
  11. Good luck with your search Which part of QLD are you in?
  12. Thanks Ness :) That's a shame, my little girl will be 13 by then, I have my doubts that she'll still be doing. Oh well, hopefully my 2 boys will be polished by then, plus it's closer for me :D Please post photos everyone, can't wait to see! And again, best of luck
  13. Best of luck everyone! I really wish I was going, don't you just hate block exams  Just for a heads up, will there be one next year? So I can start saving?
  14. AB, how do you manage so many Aussies! Just having one drives me insane sometimes  ruthless, they are all so gorgeous! Gotta love bull breeds, and their collars are lovely
  15. So the title says it all, basically my dad needs training, he continually ruins a lot of work I do with the dogs, unintentionally, and I'm at my wits end. I just need a bahaviourist to sort us all out, and help give us a structure to ensure there is consistency in the household. My little schip seems a very anxious boy at the moment, lifting his leg and peeing where he's not meant to outside, licking his lips, heavily panting etc. Poor boy is just confused I think...please help! And I need a proper behaviourist who can come to the house and asses etc, not just a trainer...thanks in advance!
  16. I love routine, so all mine get fed at 8:30 every night...no earlier no later, and they know exactly when it's time for dinner too...dogs are so smart! I vaguely remember when Biscuit was a pup I fed him at 7, then 12, then I can't remember what time at night. Reading your above post about getting into puppy mode...whenever the time comes for me to have another pup, I'll have to try my best to remember how to do it
  17. I LOVE this thread, for some reason I just love seeing a little dog family all together, so cute :D My goodness dandybrush, clumsy pups, poor things hope they heal soon! Here is a very old shot of my wonderful pack: <3 by All4aBiscuit, on Flickr
  18. I've never actually been pulled up on the combination of dogs I have, but everyone (at least one person every single time I have all 3, no exaggeration), comments "oh, you have a handful there!". I guess my combo is pretty ordinary, a mutt an aussie and a schip...I like the other ones mentioned here though, like the extremely different looks of the amstaffs and keeshonds, and the pugs with a much fitter breed the border collie
  19. That is so appauling I am gobsmacked by the language of that kid too But really, by the sounds of the people, there's not much you could've done to stop them, as has been said, anything said would've gone in one ear and out the other (unless money was involved). All you can do is alert managment, and maybe contact RSPCA. Poor puppies
  20. I can't select any of the options. My dogs don't have access to food all day, they don't fuss to get food, affection is not demonstrated through treats, and they don't get table scraps. They get food as a routine and have to sit politely for it. Done :) I got stuck on this too as my dog also gets food for routine and sits politely for it. So I had to choose one at random
  21. Very good idea, never thought of a snugglepup when I brought Biscuit home! I just did it the old-fashioned way with a warm hot water bottle and a clock wrapped in a towel  Slept through the entire night though, was great! But I would feel safer with a snugglepup type thing in case the hot water bottle got chewed (it wasn't boiling water, just warm water, but I wouldn't want him having a fright on his first night home!)
  22. I think the bond that homeless people and their dogs share is wonderful, I mean, they are each others world after all. They spend every hour of every day together, and they look after each other. If I was a homeless person, my world would just be destroyed if my dogs got taken off me.
  23. Malinois was the first breed that came to mind also, and my is he gorgeous!
  24. Aw these are all so cute!! It's not even cold enough here yet! But we went up to the Tablelands and I should hav taken pictures then, for once Rusty was cold enough to cuddle right up to me and sit in my lap (yes, in my lap!), I should've got a picture, it was so cute!
  25. Well I'm a high school student in my last year so I suppose I should have a SWF or an 'oodle' or something trendy. I've got the family's staffy cross, then my own Aussie and schipperke...don't think I could get further than the stereotyped I guess  By the way, awesome thread idea!
