Unfortunately I think breed does make a difference. I LOVE american staffies, I'm not overly worried about them, more so the 'pig dogs' which there are a lot of up here. But in my defence I had to stand helplessly as my amstaff X saved the puppy I was looking after from being mauled by this pig dog. So anytime I see one bounding to me, I do get concerned, mainly for Biscuit and Rusty is a big boy and can defend himself if need be. However if I saw a poodle charging, no, I wouldn't be concerned. Even if it had the worst intentions, it is not even going to come close to the damage that a bull breed can do.

I would imagine that $2.05 postage is pretty good.....or do you mean the postage is $22.00 Have you tried the suppliers that are closer to you? Cause I think Pets Pantry is in Victoria. If you like I will make enquiries at the post office tomorrow & see what it would cost us to send it up...we are a bit closer, being northern NSW, but there are distributors in Queensland (I think I gave you the link before) that are a lot closer. Yeah it was $22.00 :/ Sorry I will go back and find the link But if you could make enquiries that would be fanastic. Because in case in does agree with Rusty and I need to keep buying it, from pets pantry it is almost as much to pay for postage as I'd be paying for the bag But yes, the closer to me, the better, so postage is cheaper :D

Are there not working line labs? Although they may not go as fast as say, a BC, any dog can do agility...I've heard of giant breeds such as newfs and saints doing it But yes, I do see more GSP's and vislas competing. Good luck on your search, as Kavik said, hopefully some gundog people will come in and be of great help :)

Just after the 3kg trial size, I can get it from Pets Pantry for $19.95 with postage being $22. Is there anywhere I can get with cheaper postage?
-
Holy hell, $60 just for postage! Don't think I'll be buying anything afterall

Thanks for posting :) They have a great range on sale, I have selected a fair few books, hope postage isn't too bad

Agility Training Talk Thread
rusty&biscuit replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hey guys, just thought I'd join in seeing as I'm into the agility side of things! I got bored one day and started counting Cherry's quals, only to realise she has enough for her JDM and JDO2 So I sent the application away for her title yesterday, oops! She is now 11 so will be taking it lightly this year, especially having very minimal comps after I got into the conformation ring. But now that my schip is 2, this year will be agility year He is going fantastic in training so far, looking very hopeful! However, my aussie Rusty is 4, and still has a long way to go. He is a bit of an airhead, and he loves to pee in the ring. This year I am cracking down on his peeing, by carrying (yes he is very heavy!) him out of the ring and crating him straight away when he does it. We had a full course set up Sunday at the club, he peed, so I did the above. It worked quite well, next time round, he was a lot more focused, so hopefully Sorry to bore you all, can't wait to gather more tips and tricks and hear about everyones achievments this year :D -
What Dry Food Would You Recommend?

I went out yesterday and bought Holistic Select Anchovy and am gradually introducing it to him. He could smell it mixed in with his Eukanuba and was very excited! :D -
What Dry Food Would You Recommend?
rusty&biscuit replied to rusty&biscuit's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thank you all so much! Clyde, I'm going into town today so might pick up a small bag of Holistic Select and see how he goes. Pav Lova, thank you, I have been looking at Canidae but it seems a little pricey for my budget BC Crazy, that's interesting considering your dogs get so much more exercise too. Way more than my boy. I think I'll also order a 3kg bag of trial food of Black Hawk and see how he goes. So so far I have 2 different foods I have chosen to experiment with, I'll let you all know how it goes -
I think their conversion might be a bit out Recommendation for a 15 kilo dog is 150 g or just over 1 cup max & for a 20 kilo dog 200g or just under two cups maximum & this would be if they were completely on BH with no other food. My 18 kilo BC gets just 1 cup & the 23 kilo BC gets 1 1/2 cups & they are very active & maintain their weight perfectly. They get some other stuff as well. Hi guys, I have been looking at foods to switch my boy Rusty. My concern is that on Eukanuba he is pooing 2-3 times a day, with 2 being within the first half hour on the walk. He gets a 2km hike a day, and is fed 2 cups with sometimes added canned food about twice a week, and I am told this is too much. However he is quite skinny, or lean. I just don't think Eukanuba is maintaining his weight as good as it does with my other 2. As BH is quite high quality, and great on the wallet, I was hoping maybe BH users could tell me more about it

What Dry Food Would You Recommend?
rusty&biscuit replied to rusty&biscuit's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh wow, ok. Wow, your BC only gets 3/2 of a cup? I'm not critisising, I'm just shocked at how much I'm feeding  I give my staffy mix who's 15 kilos a full cup a day and she is very lean...my 7 kilo schip gets 3/4 cup and he's a good weight and aussie gets 2 cups he's 25kg and he's still very skinny but he's muscular too. I just worry if I drop it that he will lose too much weight But I guess they are not getting that extra food in the morning or extra meat, just dry once a day. Could the Eukanuba just be going in one end then straight out the other? Because for a 40kg dog getting almost the same amount as my boy who's almost half the size, I don't understand how he's so lean thin. They all get a 2km hike a day, and the schip and staffy mix are perfect weight and don't poo nearly as often. Could it just be Eukanuba doesn't agree with Rusty? Sorry, having a bit of an epiphany, never thought of it this way before  -

Thank you all very much! BlackHawk sounds alright, considering it's a good food and a good price! I might do some 'experimenting' with different foods and see how we go :) Also, it it normal for an Aussie, on 2 cups of food a day, to poo TWICE on every walk within the first half hour?? Then sometimes again at night? It can just be a bit inconvinient when I'm trying to go for a run, to be stopped a couple of times then running with a poo bag...but hey, maybe that's just me, I do get annoyed very easily  -
A Q Re Dogs Behaviour In Play
rusty&biscuit replied to mumof4girls's topic in General Dog Discussion
Rusty does that all the time to little Biscuit, add in some exciting barking/whining/growl (but it's not really a growl, he 'talks'), and visitors think Rusty is trying to kill Biscuit  -

Ridiculous/awesome Names
rusty&biscuit replied to Chequeredblackdog's topic in General Dog Discussion
The most ridiculous name we had was Lassie, and she was an amstaff mix  She was a Christmas present, and I loved the Lassie movies, so breed wasn't going to get in my way! Mum was always so embarrassed calling out that name on the beach, and we got plenty of weird looks from people  Then we have Charlie Brown, who is infact a girl...so people are always thinking I have a boy cat -

Thank you very much everyone, I really appreciate it :) I am looking a bit more into Canidae, it sounds fairly good...haven't check the price yet though  Rebanne, thank you :) I just want to experiment with some different foods. Cherry, the old girl, does just fantastic on Eukanuba, however I'd like to see how the other 2 do on different foods...I just don't know that their "excretment" is normal...how often they pass, and the difficulty they have passing. Plus Rusty is quite a smelly boy too, so not sure if part of that is diet related -

Please tell me mre about BH :) I didn't think there'd be any suppliers so far up. Thanks CBD :) It's a hastle that every dog is different, otherwise they'd all be right on the one food  But I am hoping to experiment with some foods, just want to know what are the best, so to speak ;) Thank you both for your input so far :D -
Hey everyone! I have a question, which is actually the title  Well I am currently feeding my 3 on Eukanuba, but after reading through the forums and google, the corn filler used it in makes it not-so-good quality. The 2 boys each poo 2-3 times within the first half hour of the walk, and have difficulty passing. I don't know if this is due to the food maybe they're just not getting enough fluid. But they do drink a fairly average amount. I have used Advance before, and didn't like it. Pooed wayyy more and made their teeth yuck. For the old girl, she is going excellent on Eukanuba and always has. I do however as a special treat mix in Advance canned food, and very rarly, BARF. BARF is just a bit too expensive to feed often, and I am not able to make raw myself at the moment, hopefully in the near future though. But for now, what would you suggest? I've looked in ProPlan, Nutro, and Holistic Select. These are foods that I have access to locally as well. However maybe you could tell me about other foods, or maybe even tell me that Eukanuba is, in fact, an amazing product? Any input appreciated :D

If only I lived in NSW, this sounds like paradise! Many years ago I used to often stay at a farmstay sounding similar to this one, unfortunately it is no longer You rates are so fantastic and your place sounds just great! If I ever move to NSW, I'll pay a visit

Anyone Else Have A Water Baby?
rusty&biscuit replied to Remarkabull's topic in General Dog Discussion
I love all the pictures and stories of all the adorable water babies! I indeed have 2! 3rd is not however  Rusty and Biscuit will jump into the pool at any opportunity, however are not aloud to because phosphate forms from them peeing while they swim...poor them  Rusty just swims aimessly in the ocean all the time, but Biscuit is too scared to go out as far as Rusty, but still goes in. And watering the garden they are both running after that water spray :p Sea Monster, Attack! by All4aBiscuit, on Flickr In regards to Biscuit's collar - yes, he is a boy, and yes, I find it funny to confuse not only himself, but others into thinking that he is female. Pink lead, nametag, some bling...sometimes I wonder why I'm so funny -
I highly recommend Advantix :) Frontline is rubbish, used it many years ago and dogs still got fleas. However I have been using Advantix for at least 5 years, never seen a flea or tick on the dogs. Comfortis is also excellent, if you don't live in a tick area. However I live in the tropics, so would never risk using a product that doesn't cover ticks. Advantix also helps with flea allergy dermatitis, and biting insects (which is good up here because of the mozzies! ). At my work what I usually recommend with flea infestations is Capstar, which knocks all the fleas down within the hour, then Advantix as the ongoing treatment. As others have suggested, any bedding and places the dog has access to will need to be cleaned thoroughly.

Wow, such a beautiful photo to begin with that has been painted to perfection! So lovely :) -
Gosh they are adorable, and congrats! Good luck with shipping to Finland, would be very exciting for you to see your lines over there!

Awesome I'd love to train my schip for this, like mita has said, small dogs are very good for getting into small spaces. Schipperkes played a big part in the 9/11 rescues, because they are small, great trackers, and very light on their feet. Good on the owner of the corgi for putting in such hard work into this little dog, great to see

Dogs That Stare...but Not At Goats
rusty&biscuit replied to Whippetsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
The behaviour displayed by the other dog certainly doesn't sound good. And the trainers reaction, punishing you and not resolving the issue, to me, is pretty unacceptable. I would definately find another club, however we are spoilt for choice here, so I understand it may not be so easy to find somewhere else where you are. Whatever your choice, good luck, and hopefully the issue is resolved soon
