  1. A Beadale :D My precious boy ch. beadale sea biscuit is, obviously, a beadale too! :D I LOVE this thread, so many gorgeous pictures of adorable puppies, cant wait to follow their progress! And Ophnbark, beautiful cream schip! I'm waiting for a cream bitch to one day start my breeding programme...don't know weather before or after I can get the ACD I've been waiting for for 5 years
  2. Thanks blackdogs :) My boy turns 2 on the 2nd of April! He has his Australian champion title, I am hoping for a grand champion as he has a lot in his lines...bu don't know how long that's gonna take  I love him so much, definatly the best dog in the world! How old is yours? :)
  3. Onyx is beautiful :D I've always said if I got a lappie it'd be a red one  I have a thing for red dogs, I like red tri aussies (like my boy!), red merle dogs, red and tan kelpies, cream schipperkes...........hey, it's closer to red than black
  4. I have to but in here in some childrens defence, being a 16 year at the moment  We got our first family dog, and my mums first ever dog (she was petrified of dogs after her aggressive childhood dog ), I was 6 and had spent ages convincing them for a dog to join the family. I was obssessed with english staffys at the time as my uncle overseas had them and I just loved them, so we went to the pound and picked up a beautiful staffy mix named Cherry...we liked the name so kept it :) I tried training her but because I was so young she wouldn't listen to me, but I still fed her, and attended every walk she had with my parents (too young to go on my own, obviously). Then a few years later I wanted a 2nd dog, but this time, a dog of my own. So a breed of unknown origins came into my life on Christmas morning, a 5 week old pup who I named Lassie (much to my parents horror, as she looked more boxer/pitbull than a bloody collie  ). Yes she was too young, and she was the shy pup in the corner, but we knw nothing about dogs back then. She ended up being very dog/people aggressive and later had to be pts after going for multiple children, we tried everything to help her. Again, I was involved in feeding, walking, training...but I learnt so much for her. I began agility training with Cherry when I was 9 and she was a challenge...but now has nearly got her masters title :D After being so devasted about loosing Lassie, we all needed someone else to fill the hole in our hearts...and so I found dogzonline, did much breed research on the aussie shepherd, found pups in Cairns, and so I had my very first show dog. This was when I was 12. Again, feeding, training and walking was up to me. Finally, at 15, I was trusted to get a dog of my VERY own which I would have to pay for entirely...so I ended up with my schipperke who was 1200, plus another 1 or 200 to get him from Adelaide to Cairns. Still paying for his food, toys and blah blah. Wow, I need to shut up. ANYWAY, moral of the story is that some children will look after the dogs completely for their lifetime...I am responsible for 3 dogs and want more...but if they love dogs as much as I do and are really desperate for a dog....why not However, if the parent wants the dog too, what's childhood without a dog anyway ;)
  5. dwilds, that is horrible service I am in Cairns also :D When I got my schipperke up from Adelaide he was here on the right day on the right time...the breeder arranged it, I don't think it was through DogTainers, but when I do get another pup in a few years time, I definately won't be using them!! Can't wait to see pictures of Alexis, white swiss are gorgeous dogs :D sjp118, that's excellent! Long wait you've had, but it'll be worth it :) I never realised with such a common breed how long it takes to find a breeder...I was lucky that there are only 22 schipperke breeders in the country so it didn't take me too long to find the perfect breeder :)
  6. Haha I am loving all these photos! The mud transforms the dogs into quite different looking dogs! Dogs are the new 'Transformers' ;)
  7. My opinion, ask your parents or your brother to get it desexed. Just because the dog is 'cute' or '1 in a million', he's going to let the cycle of more and more puppies repeat? If so, I believe that 60, 000 pups can be produced out of this...correct me if I'm wrong, I was only listening to 'It's Me Or The Dog' Get him to take a look at the 'Urgent Rescues' part of the forum, and see how many healthy dogs are being put to sleep, simply because there are too many dogs. It's really not fair what he's doing, and seeing as you have quite a close relationship, if you or your parents get the dog desexed, I'm sure it won't get messy. Good luck, and I really thank you for taking the dog, and all dogs of Australia's best interest into consideration :)
  8. Yup, when I was volunteering at the local animal shelter for 4 years, huskies and malamutes were a fairly common sight
  9. Wow, that petstore has a lot of puppies at one time, that's distugsting At the same time, I work in a petstore which sells puppies, however he very rarely have them, take only small breeds, and make sure people know the breed that the puppy has in them, for example, a jack russel has really high energy blah blah. The people can't take them straight away, they have a 3 day cooling off period, come with desexing voucher, microchip, puppy preschool pamphlets etc. I really think more petstores should run like this, because it teaches people to be responsible. But I would choose a breeder/rescue to get a dog/pup from over a pet shop any day!
  10. Thank goodness he is home! What a scare!
  11. Aw this is so sweet! Kids and dogs just belong together! My mum used to be terrified of all dogs due to bad childhood xperiences...and what happens, she has one child who is just dog mad...in the time of me convincing her whwn i was age 6, to now, she's lived with 4 dogs, 2 bing staffy mixes, her most feared of all! Still have 3, one had to be pts when i was 12 but i don't know what kind of childhood I'd have had without dogs!!
  12. Agree with EtH...schipperkes aren't yet a well established breed in Australia, but when I start breeding, I'd be pretty strict to where my brood bitches go...I would die if I saw a heap of badly bred little schips being bred willy nilly with no great knowledge Plus when buying, the contracts give me more confidence in that these people will be by my side in further helping and mentoring me on the breed for years to come...I have been blessed with 2 fabulous breeders who I couldn't have gone without!
  13. As a dig to fill the hole in my heart after having my previous dog pts, I had my heart set on an ACD. But mum and dad said no, mum doesn't like 'em (goodness knows why! ), so I was just researching australian shepherd cos they ar very pretty dogs...similar temperament to ACD's, loyal, one person dog, active, suitable for agility and obedience, and (supposedly!) biddable. So I ended up with my boy Rusty! Who can't decide wether he wants to be mine or dads dog, p*sses all over the agility course, and not one bit 'willing to please'. More like, 'willing for the food, if there's no food, forget it'. Nonetheless I still love him  For my third dog, finally given permission by my parents, I STILL had my heart set on an ACD. However since it took so much convincing (6 years to convince them for 3 dogs!!), there were strict conditions. One, it had to be male, they don't want to deal with a female in heat (I wanted a show dog, so desexing not an option), and it had to be a SMALL dog. Well, that rules out ACD. So yet again I wanted something loyal, very much a 1 person dog, able to compete in agility, active and 'biddable'. So, I came up with a Japanese Spitz. BUT, they never told me it had to have a shorter coat than Rusty the Aussie shepherd!! But after much debate, I decided a schipperke, found the most wonderful breeder, and so I have my boy Biscuit. Everything I have ever wanted in a dog and more, he is definately my 'heart dog'. BUT, I still have my heart set on an ACD, and one day when I move out and have enough room, I WILL have one
  14. Haha, woops, I've never had an issue. Cops always stopping people without helmets but drive right by anyone riding with a dog. But hey, I ride with my dog and without a helmet...oops
  15. What a hero! Dogs loyalty never seizes to amaze me! bias x3
  16. Mags that is horrible!! D: Some people I am very sorry for your loss
  17. So glad you're ok! What an eventful night! I know for a fact that Cherry, my staffy mix is a good guard. As well as my now passed away dog, Lassie, who was a pitbull mixed with all kinds of other dogs! One day an idiotic council member just waltzed through the side gate, unknown that little 8 year old me was watching him through the computer room, window, no I'm not a stalker or creep, I was playing on the computer  Anyway, after mum telling him not to go in, he gos ahead, Cherry and Lassie at his feet barking their heads off, hackles up, teeth baring, I just kept yelling for mum, when the b@stard kicks Lassie, which sent Cherry lunging at his face. Dumb guy, Lassie was never the same with people again However these days along with Cherry who is turning 11 next month (don't know how useful a guard she's be now!), I have Rusty an Aussie shepherd and Biscuit who have never been confonted with any sort of dangerous situation, and I don't want to hav to find out how good or bad of guard dogs they are! So glad you're safe, and hope you never have to encounter this again
  18. oh my god, i am going to strangle this person -_____________- i dont understand how this is not illegal??
  19. Thank you both so much, Mareeba is perfect! Sorry to be a pain, who would I contact for that, the koolie club? And thanks SLF, I'll be sure to do that :D
  20. Hehe thats ok :) same as i wouldnt know NSW geography
  21. 100% agree! I have a gorgeous cat of my own whom I love dearly, and she stays indoors. No hassle at all. If she really wants to go out and get some fresh air, eat some grass, I accompany hr in the backyard. I absaloutely adore the wildlife around my area, henc the indoor cat, 2 well trained dogs who know to leave the wildlife alone, and the other killer dog sleeps inside and night to let the possums, frogs and snakes roam freely at night. The cats don't go in the backyard as my dog will rightly so chase them out, but when they're out the front really annoys me at night. I have nesting birds out there occasionally and dont want a bloody cat murdering the poor things. Keep your cats indoors at night PLEASE, if they don't get squished by a car or eaten by a snake (which does happen around here), they cause extensive damage to the native fauna!
  22. Inevitablue, great photos! ACD's are just my favourite breed, however mum won't let me have one...hopefully get one next year since I'll be finished school and have a job, but she just won't budge, she don't like them And it's great to see a corgi working! Anyway, I posted a thread in the 'General Disscussions' area, but thought I might try here! I just love the way you really have to work as a team in herding, just like in agility, and have really wanted to get into herding, one problem, I live in suburbia with no room in my yard for sheep, cattle or goats, and a mother who refuses to let me have any more pets including poultry. So was wondering if anyone up in FNQ near Cairns did any herding lessons? I have heard of a lot of people up here would like to get into it, so it would be a really good investment I would've thought...
  23. wow, that water is so incredibly beautiful! Cairns is instead blessed with brown irky water...
