If I could buy VAN rolls in my area I would buy it in a heart beat over another variety of dog roll to use as training bait.

Hankdog, I can so relate to your post. I wish I lived closer to Vickie cause I need extra help with Stella. And I totally agree with the need to get the timing right. With a very anxious dog it is very difficult. Stella had taught me heaps too like your Jake. But when she is acting up she can cause quite a scene & I have seen the look on peoples faces like, "OMG" !! & the comments, "that dog should be pts, it's crazy". It is upsetting but I am doing my absolute best with her & she is improving on her good days. She is the sweetest little girl ever when there is nothing noisey like a mower or something that triggers her anxiety. She has really improved with DA. We have been working really hard on that lately. This week we have even been walking for 1 hour a day with another female BC, without a single issue. This is a remarkable effort for her. While they are both on leads & they don't interact with eachother, Stella has not shown any signs of aggression, growling etc. & relaxes well. I'm wrapped as this is very big/brave step for my girl. I think the medication is helping her in conjunction with supervised exposure to all the 'scarey stuff '. Staffyluv, with Stella we are always doing one step forward, 2 back.... We even do back flips if we really loose it, giggle :) I understand your frustration. -
Well said, totally agree.

Same here TSD, I cut it really small for training treats only as well & my guys love it. It works out very economical too :)

Hi Kayla, I use Superboost spinkled over their evening meal of dry/raw food. Sonny has 1 level spoon & Stella has 1/4 spoon. I just went roughly by the directions,Sonny has 3/4 cup of dry food per day & Stella has 1/2 cup. Unless I have misunderstood them. Very possible but we have positive results here :)
-
I am about 3/4 of the way through my 440g container of Superboost with 2 Border Collies & it will probably last 3 to 4 months roughly. So very economical really. I am very happy with the improvements I have seen in my guys. It's a win/win for us atm :)

Every dog is different so what works for one may not work for another. It is trail & error till you find what works the best for them. For me, I swapped both of mine to TOTW, Earthborn holistic & am going to try the new Artmesis grain free. I have upped the amount of raw, so am only feeding around 30 to 40% grain free dry food. Both my guys appearance & over general health has improved tonnes but it takes quite some time.

Stans mum, we will have to catch up. Would be heaps fun.... & yes you are very fortunate to have such stunning greys :)
-
Delta Charlie, thanks for your detailed insight on how you manage to do what you do & do it so well :) I am very passionate with my guys too & love them to bits. I am also probably way too critical of myself at times. But am hoping with experience I will gain more confidence. I know both mine dogs are very happy, content & most times they are very well behaved. And are the very best of friends. So really what more could I ask for. Just need to fine tune my individual training time & I 'll be wrapped :) Know I have said 2 dogs are more than enough for me but in truth maybe oneday I will get another BC. They are just so addictive. Adore them :)

W sibs, Skeeter is a very quirky character. Hilarious... Love the quirky kids :)
-
That is a classic pic of Maddie & Stan the man all rugged up & snuggley in the lounge room. Hilarious stans mum. There must never be a dull moment at your place. Such a lovely pair of Greys. But Stan is just a scene stealer cause he is just the biggest character :)
-
Stan is a cross dresser, who would have thunk it? Ha,Ha... Stan might be just coming out, but knowing our Stan, it was far to exhausting, so he had to resume his position on the lounge. giggle :)
-
Have to agree D Darling, the colour so suits you Stan :)
-
Happy 4th Gotcha day Lucy. You are such a lucky girll :) And I feel the exact same way as you do megan. I am so not the "right" owner for Stella either. No where near experienced enough but that is what she has ended up with too :)
-
Oh Stan, you've done it again ..... Never fail to crack me up LOL.
-
Omg.. Mel those pic's poor little puppies Way beyond cruel. They make me feel really very sad at the thought of the sheer mental torture they must be feeling from the total isolation of those shocking "living" conditions

Oh hankdog, great pic ! What a character your Jake is :) -
You and I have very similar dogs!!! Every time I call Kenz to put on her collar and lead she always takes the long route to get to me (generally a big loop around the coffe table!!!)! LOL, thats so funny . How alike are our 4. It's uncanny really. Kenz even does the weird circle thing just like Sonny. Weird as it is. As soon as I pick up his lead, off he goes & does his lap around the table, then I put his lead on & off we go. Bizare really.

Yes OSS, a small acerage is my dream. Wouldn't it be heaven for the dogs & us :) Even 1 acre would be lovely. Somewhere for them to exercise in safety.

I have a quirky couple very similar to Pretty miss em only it's my Stella who is a toy sucker/carrier with "pete" the pelican. She is off with the fairies when she is sucking away on Pete & when she isn't she carries him everywhere she goes. If she gets tired of carrying him when we are out & about she looks at me & stops, her cue that It.s my turn to carry him for a while. Stella also digs up a beautiful bed whether she is about to lay down on the wooden floor (scratch) tiles, outside or in her own bed. Circles round & round & digs like mad for a frantic minute then lays down. Every time. My boy's only weird habit is before I put his lead on or get ready to groom him , he walks round in a circle about 2 metres in diameter every single time. Why? Dont know but it's every time without fail.. :)

Congrats to you TJ on your 11th addition tomorrow. Hats off to you to !! Amazing effort. My OH doesn't really understand why I keep such a regamented time schedule but I find it really works for us too & the dogs seem to thrive on it. They do adjust quickly though if the usual timetable is thrown out the window like it has been for the last 5 weeks while we have been camping. Any tips on how to incorperate more separate training, my only real issue that I feel like I'm letting my guys down. They could be so much more imo.

OMG ! Hats off to you Delta Charlie. I think your amazing. 9 dogs & all the training yours would have, cause I think you do Agility/flyball from memory. I am flat out with 2 much loved pet BC's LOL. I struggle getting basic one on one training done. What your secret?? :)
-
I have often wondered the very same thing huski. In multiple dog homes just how they manage to individually train each dog as this is something I tend to really struggle with even though I only have the 2 dogs. I have gotten into a habit of taking both of mine out together all the time & I think in hind sight I haven't done my girl any favours by doing so as she now relys a lot on my older boy & doesn't settle well on her own. I am now in the process of taking her on her own, very short sessions to start with. Much to her dismay I just get the guilts if I leave one at home.
-
For me ,I have a 4 year old boy & a 2 year old girl. 2 dogs are my limit. Having said that my girl is a very time consuming, special girl who emotionally & phsyically zaps every inch of me most days. I could quite comfortablely take care of another couple if they had temps like my boy. He is just so easy, calm & settled. So I think it really depends on the nature of the beast, so to speak for me. My 2 don't want for anything. Some Non dog lovers have said I am completely mad ... The lengths I go to to ensure their every need is meet. But when I see them happy & content, it is just so very worth it.... :)

My eyes are leaking too. I bet the poor littley's eye's will haunt you forever Mel. How could this bloody cruelty continue ? :(
