  1. That can be one of the wost things you could possibly do especially if you're a newbe. Not all dogs at dog parks are well socialised. If your puppy gets hammered at a dog park especially during a fear period then it can be all over rover....fear aggression can take hold.
  2. One of the best Puppy Schools is only 20kms from you in Austral. Luci Ellem's puppy pre-school: http://www.camarna.com/main.htm The puppies learn to be around one another and just ignore one another and focus on what they're meant to be doing. Alot of people think puppy schools are where puppies should play and interact, this isn't the case and it shouldn't be because there will always be dogs that aren't suitable to be with your puppy, you're at puppy school to learn together with your puppy and hopefully create a more neutral grounding for your puppy around other dogs rather than them finding them a high value item.
  3. Full time with 2 permanant dogs and the occassional foster dog.
  4. I have a Doggie Tazer....it's just a handheld device that makes the silent sound to humans but the high pitched sounds dogs hate.
  5. I'd just stop abrupty and give a verbal correction walking towards them and then turn around and try again and repeat.
  6. I'd go with cooking it first, dogs do prefer warmer food over cold and then once used to the taste you can try raw.
  7. I vote for the crate and I personaly don't give a tantruming puppy attention otherwise they figure out that's what gets your out of bed.
  8. I have an allergic dog so I'd get pretty shitty if someone gave him food without asking me.
  9. Everyone will have different opinions and each dog is different too. I took a couple of weeks off when my last pup came home and went back to full time work when he was 11 weeks of age and had no dramas. My Adults sleep as long as you let them so they're not a problem either.
  10. I think it's important to remember that it is a natural behaviour for a dog, there are no need to run expensive tests unless your Vet feels there is reason to be concerned. After all it is disgusting to you but not to the dog. There are many theories as to why dogs do it but no 100% answers. Some things you could try: If you feel that the dog maybe missing some vitamins/minerals from their intake you can try a product such as: Value Plus Organic Iron/Min 500 Tablets You can and make the Poo taste yucky by giving the dog Pineapple Juice in their meals. You can pick up the poo as soon as you see it. You can not make a big deal of it when the dog is doing it as behavioural wise it is believed it can turn into a came ....who can get to the poo faster you or me!?

  14. Sounds like she may be experiencing some OCD behaviour? Anything like that in her lines? A Vet Behaviourist such as Robert Holmes could be worth a consult: http://animalbehaviour.com/

  20. Ok, must not be that smart, I don't get it LOL
  21. Although I think a companion dog is a nice thought, my concern would be that the dog has anxiety about you, so after the novelity of a 2nd dog wears off he may go back to having anxiety again?
