  1. I provided sticks for my pup, care to remove any branches or anything that could poke him in the eye. I have him 2 or 3 other toys in his run that were of different firmnesses as well. Sticks were his things and even today he still enjoys a good stick chewing. He only chewed a tv remote as a pup when I forgot to put it out of his reach so we got through puppyhood pretty good!
  2. :D It doesn't work like that in dogs, all it does is serve to confuse them and the dog looses trust in you for repremanding it for Nothing!
  3. I'm so sorry, RIP. Another Angel you know...
  4. Not all dogs need the E.Collar, just see how he goes first.
  5. http://www.seek.com.au/job/brilliant-b-dog.../16332827/33/1/ The successful applicants will be highly personable, of “sunny” disposition with strong communication skills, both written and oral. They will be well organised and able to work without full supervision, whilst also able to perform well within a team. They will need to possess a reasonable level of physical fitness. Ideally, they will hold the NDTF Certificate in Dog Training and Behaviour; and a title on their dog in ANKC obedience or agility; or other dog sport. Future career advancement within Pet Resorts of Australia will be available. Presently, the organisation operates two sites and has plans for numerous others. The positions available at present involve the domestic obedience training of dogs during their stay at the resort; and some individual lessons and group classes. The organisation currently holds several government and private contracts for the training of scent detection dogs and their handlers and the training of distance learning students for the NDTF. Proven suitable trainers will have the opportunity to progress to these aspects of training. New contracts involving various aspects of dog training are sought on an ongoing basis. There are two positions available: one could be full-time with a part-time support or; alternatively, the six days per week could be job shared. Vicki Austin 02 9651 1747
  6. Seperation Aniexty is not uncommon in foster homes, we're currenly working through it with our new girl, she's doing well though. This article may assist you: http://www.dmantugs.com.au/Separation_Anxiety.pdf
  7. Reporting in. Used Tuckertime for the first time with a Foster dog, I think it's great....but expensive to feed a Great Dane though. Foster dog recovered from the squirts within days of starting it.
  8. Dante has those :D he rubs his muzzle a fair bit so I gather they are from that. But couldj ust be a skin growth.
  9. My pup experienced agro dogs and irresponsible owners regardless of how careful we tried to be during fear periods. My boy is nearly 3 and is fear aggressive to dogs that we don't personaly introduce him to. If I could turn back time I would have seen a Behaviourist straight away.
  10. I don't do it but I should, mind you I need someone to record their foot work to help me as I'm extremely unco! Tiggy, wanna record your foot work for me? I'll send you some tugs in return? LOL
  11. Then tidy up your yard and kill the Bindi's. I'm not even going to comment on the potential breeding of a pet *shakes head* Also your dog is a he or she not an 'it'.
  12. Don't let pup out of your sight when you're home, close doors to rooms etc, restrict your pup to the area you are in, take pup out every half an hour when you're home and give toileting command and then follow with praise. I have inside Great Danes but I'm not going to allow them to toilet inside. If you really must only have your dog toilet on a pad inside then when you get home, take the pup to the pad every half an our, restrict where the pup can go and watch like a hawk that way no mistakes can occur.
  13. You should absolutely contact the breeder.

    Bad Dog

Having Danes, being able to reach things is always a problem. We have a new foster Dane now that has no training and doesn't understand boundaries, we just use our body language and our actual bodies to let her know what not to do and praise her as soon as she complies even if it's by accident. If we have to use a verbal it's a short sharp noise to distract/get attention.
  15. HAHAHAHA that is super! I tried 101 things when Dante was a pup but he just wasn't ready for the focus required LOL He's nearly 3 and I tried it with him recently and he took to it very well, it funny watching their behaviours with the free shaping stuff.
  16. We just put down carpet squares in the hallway and rugs in the rooms so we can take them if and when we need to move. When we have more money will get a carpet runner in the hallway. Taite actually walks over on the carpet and avoids the slippery floor. So pleased to hear! A dog slipping on floors can definately be your culprit, try places like www.factoryfast.com.au for cheap rugs I have this one...280cm! for $23 = http://www.factoryfast.com.au/p/elegant-18...m-floor-rug-16/
  17. Hey Guys, Is there a supplier in Australia at all?
  18. I'm so sorry! How heart breaking for you. More Angels you know...
