Do you let him do other things that you find 'cute' such as the flower pot? General rule is treat them and give them boundaries as to how you want them to behaved as adults. How old is your puppy and what breed?

Looking For Your Next Obedience Dog?

Vicky, I found his drive! BIRDS lol I was out at the park today, he saw a Magpie and went a million miles an hour for it.......now how to harness that.....perhaps a Magpie on the end of a stick? lol -
Yep, that made sense, previously owning an aggressive dog I learnt never to set them up for faliure no matter what....it's something that becomes habbit.

So sorry R.I.P Another Angel you know...
-
Bloss....um no....he didn't take to any dog with a stick.

Dogs need to have a fresh supply of water at all times, it is also mentioned on the RSPCA website regarding what dogs must have. Some people do lift the bowls an hour before bed for dogs who can't go through the night. Dogs drink water when they need to not because they think it's a fun event. Watch your puppy like a hawk and take your puppy out on schedules and it'll toilet traing just fine. Puppies are puppies, if you have a puppy that can't hold its' bladder then you need to get up in the middle of the night and take it out unless you have it confined to bathroom etc.

Dogs bite and chew at their feet when they have allergies too, it may be worth popping along to your vet for a check up Biting ones self can also be a stress copying mechanism as well.

I would suggest that you're not watching him enough to correct his behaviour. You really have to watch them like a hawk and when you catch them in the act of chewing something they're not meant to you give a firm no and replace it with something that they can chew. You say he's getting plenty of exercise but it doesn't sound like he is, how much is he getting and when?

Sunday 3rd of December I'm heading out, I'll evaluate things before I enter to see what dogs are in there, I won't tolerate aggressive dogs with my kids.

Vicky, I would been extremely intimidated if I ever saw you and Trim line up for a run against me LOL Fingers crossed for Cobber -
Sounds like you haven't proofed your pooches toilet training yet. I'd go back to step one taking your puppy out every 30 minutes also as soon as they wake, after they've played, after they've eaten etc. When you take pooch out, say "Toilet" and don't interact with the dog, when the dog goes to the toilet, in a calm voice say "Good" then when the dog has finished, lay on the praise big time! Puppy is only 4 months old and has a couple more months of developing before you can expect reliablity.

OH OH How bloody cute! That's cool, we'll aim for an 8pm arrival. -
If she's not underweight there are some good products for Danes such as: 1) Eukunuba Holistic 2) Royal Canin for Giant Breeds 3) Pro Plan Or you could try BARF (raw meat, mashed veggies & bones). I'm sure she'll gain her confidence in time, just remember not to goo ga her, let her come into her own in her own time, sometimes ignoring those quirky moments does the trick. Is this your first Dane? Edited to say: Do you have any photos? Love to see her!

If he's still pooing, he's still eating..... Yep, chicken is usually a win win
-
Or you're not coming across as a leader? Just a thought.

I'm buying a puppy from a very good breeder who doesn't do all the testing.....for my breed of choice approx 95% don't do the testing because they won't risk the dog going under general. You really only want to see tests that are relevant to that breed, ring lot's of breeders and see what response you get and speak with your vet as well.

It's interesting you say that your puppy is ok with your other dog because she feels safe with him and relaxes. Do you think there's a reason why she doesn't relax with you?

Have talked the OH into going on Thursday nights to Agility, he can take our Great Dane and I'll take Cobber. It will be a great opportunity for Cobber to interact with some other doggies more his size. Side note: The classes are 1 hour in duration? -
Got A Letter Of Complaint From Local Council
sas replied to kaywoman68's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I'm positive that a morning walk will make a world of difference to them so would getting a regular evening walk. If I have a foster that is playing up during the day (barking/digging) I have no choice but to get my butt out of bed at 5am and take the dog for the walk because it's not really the neighours I'm concerned about but the mental well being of the dog (but yes I don't want pissed off neighbours), I also have to go back and revisit where I've fallen down in my leadership skills if I feel the dog is stressing during the day and not just acting out of boredom. I leave the house at 6am and get back at about 5pm. I hate mornings, my OH physically pulls me out of bed in the morning by my legs but if I have to take the dog for a walk to calm it during the day that's what I have to do, actually makes me feel a lot better during the day as well. As for the paddling pool, we do No-Frills water or from the rain water tank if there's anything in there, yep, overboard probably but it's an activity the (our) dogs really enjoy. Playing in the house or backyard doesn't do the justice a walk does. Ask you neighbour to do a bark diary as they're home all day. Would you consider the bark collar I mentioned? -

So perhaps I should go out there on Tuesday night as well for when the Flyball people are there? -

Sorry to hear about the complaint letter! Sucks! I'd definately be taking them for a walk before you leave, yeah it'll mean you have to get up earlier but a calmer mind can mean a calmer dog during the day. Is there anything you think they'd be barking at in particular? My parents are curerntly trying out a new no-bark collar on the market called JetCare, it's available from K9 Force, it shoots a jet of AIR when the dog barks. Mum and Dad have a Labrador who over-protects the yards boundaries and this is working great. If you think it's boredom barking, are you doing things like Big Bones, Sandpits & Paddling pools etc? -
Have you tried TOT?
