  1. For simple file sharing, try dropbox - it's free! www.dropbox.com I use it to share videos and pics with family and friends in the states. Works great. I was just about to go through the painful process of creating a file with the signs. Please let us know when/where we can get them! Cheers, Eileen They are here: http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/downloads.htm :)
  2. If you have the resources to rehab a dog like shown in the video then sure - there are plenty of people out there that do have the resources and the skill. It's the ones who don't have the resouces and/or the skill who take them that is the issues.
  3. Reponding to the OP - here here - I personaly am sick of being attacked by other rescuers because I refuse to take aggressive dogs whether that be human aggression or dog aggression. Recently we have said No to taking 2 Dane x's due to aggression - the attacks that came from those were just disgraceful. I believe if you do not have the resources to rehab a dog then don't take the dog! We have a behavioural boot camp program with a Behaviourist however that is usually full - we will only do what is right for the dog - not to please other people who have an over emotional attachment to a legal liablity. People need to stop making excuses for a dogs behaviour. Edited: We accepted a surrender a while ago due to domestic violence, turns out this dog had more issues than we were we told and she has been in care 3 months and the carer is working her through a behavioural modification program with K9 Pro (post an actual session) - that dog isn't going anywhere until she is ready - she originaly was super reactive - we dedicated our selves to rehabbing her - that committment means we would euthanise if necc as well. I get so cranky for the sake of the dog when I see one specific dog that is sitting in kennels (not ours) for the last 3-4 years because it technically isn't rehome-able - but what work have they done with it? None!
  4. I've been wanting to get her DVDs too, will have to save up. Did you get them from Tawzer? Yep got them from Tawzer - it's actually of her Seminars - so loving it!
  5. It was inclusive of travel from what I was told - which either way $300/$400 is still alot for yoru average pet owner. I've paid more personaly but I understand peoples inability to shell out big bucks.
  6. Thanks for that :) Are they mixed method Behaviourists/Trainers?
  7. Dog isn't highly aggressive so positive methods should be fine. I'm more for a balanced open appraoch but these days typical pet owners can't afford $400 which is what Mark is (what I was told when I first reccomended him). Even though yes it is an investment people either do or don't have the $400 spare.
  8. I forgot to book but I have her DVD's an they're awesome :)
  9. Great Dane Rescue & Rehoming are currently updating our Behaviourist list, do you have one that you would like to reccomend? 10. Bugger, sorry can't find it but it was from one of those cheap online stores, maybe it was limited stock.
  11. Yep, we have one of these, purchased in Australia, porbably about 2 years ago, would have just been from one of the deals sites. I'll see if I can find any reference to it in my receitps folder.
  12. Hey Guys, Just checking out if anyone knows of a Alexis from Scholars in Collars in SA and what your experiences were and if you would reccomend them for a Dane owner in SA whose dog has started showing some negative behaviour to other dogs out on walks. Thanks in advance.
  13. We rinse with high shine. Granted we have shorted coated dogs, although most of the rescues have the itchies when they first come in. http://www.hishine.net.au/
  14. I've had people knock on my door and tell me my dogs are out when they're on the sofa. I wouldn't be too worried, just mistaken identity :)
  15. This. Also, I'm 4 foot 11 high and 56 kilos and have never, ever been pulled over by a dog, let alone something as small as a Kelpie. Big dogs can be managed well with the correct training and tools (if needed), and staying tuned in to their behaviour so they don't catch you by surprise, to ensure they aren't pulling anyone over. Knock the personal insults off, that's just rude and unneccessary. You do realise this dog is probably around 70 kilos right? I'm signing out of this thread because it's going to get nasty like others in rescue when people go on with emotion over logic. My last word is a I hope this dog doesn't get into the wrong hands.
  16. I'm not touching him or reccomending any of my Dane folk take him, I have a responsibility to the general public and don't believe dog aggressive dogs should be rehomed. Sorry to sound harsh but we're not talking about chihuahuas and given we have a Professional Behaviouruist that has worked with Dane Rescue for years tell us the dog is highly dog aggressive we'll take his word. If you believe the dog to be safe and work-able then all I can hope is that he is put with suitably experienced people so he is not a danger to the general public's dogs whilst he is undergoing re-training.
  17. Not really any further information available. Dog was dumped at the Behaviourist property, it was taken to Rossmore Vets and then transferred to Renbury. During the short time it was on the property it showed to be highly dog aggressive going from zero to hero very quickly and showed to be extremely strong paying no attention to correction. Sorry, can't really assist you anymore than that. Normally in these situations I would reccomend for a Professional Behaviourist to assess the dog if a person was looking at taking it, you've already had your Behaviourist assess the dog.
  18. He was dumped at our Behaviourists that has advised he is highly dog aggressive, extremely strong who pays no attention to correction. He would only be 'safe' with a trained professional imo.
  19. We're using a lady who does Breed Club auditing BUT I'm pretty sure after she does my Audit for the first time she'll tell me to bugger off as there are significally more transactions than a breed club. You may like to contact a local account, many are happy to do it free or cheaply. In most cases they don't have the be a qualified auditor, just a qualified Accountant - depending on the requirements of how you operate.
