  1. Most dogs rehome just fine and sometimes they end up in 'better' homes than they were in (not that people like to hear that). Shit happens, people need to loose the judgemental attitude.
  2. I have added: 'Novice' Rally Obedience signs with instructions on the back (PDF). This is the format my obedience club has them, thought it was a good idea having the instructions on the back so you can stop and check if you get confused: http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/rallyo.htm
  3. Note in letter box, these days it's generally too dangerous to speak to people logically. If they don't fix the situation then report.
  4. What's normal for one dog isn't another dogs normal. If your itching dog doesn't have any allergy signs then relax. How many times do you itch per day? If you've flea treated, the dog has a healthy coat and a good diet and nothing seems to be a miss then I'd say relax :)
  5. Contact: http://www.k9pro.com.au/ they help people with Dangerous Dog cases.
  6. Uploaded :) http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/rallyo.htm Thank you once again for sharing these with everyone :) Have netbanked $ over for postage etc :)
  7. Hah, my pup now doesn't bite when I have the water spray in my hand. But if I'm sprayless it's game on. Must find something to squirt with that she can't see. And people say Pugs don't learn things quickly! She learns what she wants lol If you use a water squirter / gun you're meant to use it when the dog can't see to avoid the problem you have now. All dogs understand cause and effect.
  8. Erny, Happy Tail Syndrome is just from Tail trauma. For example some Danes have these whip like Tails and add happy tail to that and they do themselves some pretty serious damage by whacking them on walls and furniture. And if you don't pad them and keep them padded for a long time then the tail just gets more trauma and no hope of healing. The Danes I know who have had it have been thyroid tested as part of breed testing as well.
  9. Heya, When they arrive I'll upload them to a website so anyone can download them free of charge.
  10. Great Dane Rescue have an info sheet on Enrichment you may find useful: http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/emrichment_sept.pdf
  11. Great Dane Rescue have an info sheet on biting puppies that you may find useful: http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/biting.pdf
  12. Our Vet pads our Dane injury tails wonderfuly, perhaps check with your Vet, they've probably done it many times before.
  13. Oh! I didn't even think of them. I just find the whole thing disturbing as the breed traits aren't complimentary so it's only the dog that loses out. I just thought given that the Pharaoh is not a c ommon breed someone might now what's going on whose involved with the breed.
  14. In NSW it is NOT illegal to have a dog unrestrained in the car.
  15. Question: Pharaoh Hounds are quite rare in Australia right? So whose in QLD breeding them with Great Danes? Apparantly they make excellent pet /working guard dogs???!!!!
  16. No, I didn't carry my Dane pups around all the time, I find the thought quite funny considering a 10 week old can weigh 15 kilos.
  17. I didnt MEH, and have never spoken with GM over the phone or even via Pm? My apologies, I didn't see the IF bit.
  18. Nic, that is so inappropriate to bring up private phone discussions you had with GM.
  19. Agree. Unfortunately some people A) don't get the help they need and B) Are too lazy to actually implement the changes needed and the problem continues and the dog gets more stressed and unreliable.
  20. No, not neccessarily. JRT Rescue could be llike a lot of other rescues who don't rehome aggressive dogs.
  21. I think its irresponsible to rehome a dog like that. imo she gets appropriate help to rehabb the dog or pts.
  22. We just use a drip tray....the ones you get from car shops.
