  1. Says who? Diet related allergies are actually very rare. Maybe you're talking about intolerance. Atopic Allergies is what is seen most.
  2. Hi Guys, These Price Comparisons have been done for Great Dane Rescue so don't include small dog products. These are current as of today. Download the Excel Spreadsheet here: http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/Flea_Worming_January_2012.xlsx OR Download the PDF version that has an explanation for each product here: http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/flea_and_worming.pdf
  3. Oh good idea Sway! I will have a look through what is in the throw away pile to see what is worth saving. Yea, I've been meaning to see if the local RSPCA shelter here will want all my old dog/cat stuff. I have tons of stuff to give away. I think the thing I hoard the most (other than toys) would be brushes. I have about 10 dog brushes Your smaller All Breeds and Breed Specific shelters would be grateful, they don't recieve the funding the RSPCA do.
  4. Greymate....hense why it's called a guess. Chill out woman....you always come into these guess a breed with your negative hat on as if the people asking are going to def say that is what the dog is.
  5. Can I just say that you're smiling Cattle dog is just adorable! lol
  6. What a beautiful story and a charmed life he had. RIP old boy, Another Angel you know...
  7. So Sorry Another Angel you know...
  8. Why get in trouble? It's what you do. It's not what I'd do, I believe 'my' dogs need more mental stimulation than throwing a ball in my backyard can provide. I 'travel' with my dogs on their walks as I believe it's natural. If your dogs are happy and stable then you do whatever is right for them.....but if you're being lazy and making excuses for not taking them out then that's a whole different story LOL
  9. Depends on the breed too. All puppies need exercise, people should never steer away from exercising their puppies, they need the muscle tone to keep them safe from injury. It just needs to be appropriate. Perhaps head into the Breed Specific Thread and ask in there or contact a Breeder.
  10. They have a live chat option on their website, that could help you.
  11. Do a prentend leave and watch how he's getting out....you may need to go next door to watch.
  12. They rely on the dog wearing a collar, and a collar on this particular dog frightens me more than him escaping. He's not digging, we know that for sure. He's also not jumping, but he is possibly climbing. And a climbing dog wearing a collar is a recipe for disaster. However, I wouldn;t mind at least trying one, but I don't think they offer a try before you buy option. We have looked at a ping string for the top of the fence we think he's probably climbing (only due to the fact that he's twice been found next door and it's unlikely he'd end up there unless he went over the fence) but the bloke at the stock and feed store didn't think it would work because it relies on part of the body touching the earth. If he's climbing that fence, there's no way he can go over the fence and have a foot on the ground. I'd be more frightened by him getting hit by a car / causing an accident etc. With the collar, he wouldn't get close to the fence to climb it. Even something as simple as this (with the outdoor model): http://innotek.com.au/innotek-home/Zone-Collar-Kit
  13. 'cause some people have to suck the fun out of anything.
  14. You over thought this one....it's simply a piss take....it's great marketing to get people to have a laugh about a serious issue.
  15. If you're sending a towel, they usuall get put in a plastic bag and affixed to the top part of the whelping box where the pups can't get to it. I don't think the breeder would put it in the whelping box as it would get soiled? I have used a snuggle puppy (with heart beat and warming pad) on a few dogs and all 'used' it for about a month before they no longer slept near it.
  16. I work on the sameish dossage. Also keep in mind some Fish Oil does already have Vit E in it.
  17. Hi! My name is Sacha from Great Dane Rescue & Rehoming NSW. I wouldn't advise getting any new dogs when yoru friend is about to have twins - 1 baby is enough to cope with let alone 2 with new dogs let alone Danes. Please sway your friend away from this - getting into a routine with her babies is the priority.
  18. My 2 resident dogs don't need to be given things to do when we're not home, mind you they are a coach potato breed, they usually sunbake or sleep inside on the sofa.
  19. Disgusting owner you are for leaving a dog outside! If the two dogs are getting along well and no one is being harassed etc then I don't see a prob.
  20. oh no no no why did you post this? I didnt' know about this site!

    Barking!

She continues to bark because it is somehow rewarding for her...i.e. she gets human attention when she does it - and if you have been giving attention when she barks it's going to be really hard to break the habbit now but of course you can try. Sleeping inside in a crate would solve your issues though.
  22. Is it a flea allergy or is the dog an allergic dog (to other things other than fleas). How was flea allergy diagnosed?
