At Great Dane Rescue we have a info sheet, it is specific to Great Danes, however there is generic info in there as well: http://www.greatdanerescue.com.au/Docs/buying_a_puppy.pdf

Sounds like this trainer thinks she understands Wolf Behaviour and has forgotten about selective breeding in domestic dogs for non-wolf like traits means that domestic dogs aren't constantly seeking higher rank order and therefore not everything revolves around 'dominance'. I'd run a mile from this trainer!

Foster Failures And Continued Fostering

I agree. I have been to some dog rescues like that and actually took photos and reported one that was a dump and the dogs were in poor condition. -
Foster Failures And Continued Fostering
sas replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
After around 10 years we fostered faliured our very first dog. It makes absolutely no sense to deney a foster carer because they adopted a dog. A foster carer may not be able to foster again though if they adopt due to lack of room but I would never deney them! -
I've found that what we say and what we do are 2 very different things. My partner and I said if our boy got another blockage (from eating something he shouldn't) we would put to sleep as he was not a healthy dog and was really struggling......he got a blockage and we operated. Sadly we lost him the following day but just goes to prove the heart and the heart don't always agree.

Cheeky Monster, I pitty the day your dog doesn't behave like a perfect little robot dog. Dogs are dogs. You really have to understand and comprehend all breeds have different breed characteristics. How a dog behaves in a crate may be completely different to how it behaves outside. I don't think you really understand it all yet. I'd love to be able to walk by the Bull dogs or the Dallies without them all going off....I go around them and avoid them if my dog doesn't feel comfortable with it.

You can also make a spray using Calendula by combining 10 drops of Calendula tincture with 150mls of distilled water in a small spray bottle. Shake the mixture well, and spray on your dog's skin as often as needed.

Why would a cute photo be my defense.... I know any dog can be dangerous, as my last dog was a pitbull... Although she wasn't declared dangerous. Well obviously its not black and white therefor i have asked other opinions. No a bandogge is not restricted in qld... They are frowned apon at times. I have done the right thing, and I have registered rocksteady as the exact breed he is. Previous to this I have not even had the ranger been near my dogs for anything. Don't get snarky at me. If it isn't a banned breed then I suggest like others have suggested and you get a lawyer.

Anydog can be dangerous - so I hope cute photos aren't your defense. If the Banddog a restricted breed in your state? If it is well then it's pretty black and white?
-
That's not really fair....it's the same as keeping our animal sin our homes if there is a fire - please don't make suce a sad thing about Live animals being sold in pet shops.

Could your dogs itchyness be not related to fleas?

I Think It's Nearly Time For Lilly

There's nothing to say long term medication is the right decision for your girl, she's an old girl, she's done it tough....you'll make the best decision for her *hugs* -
Spoon a bit out of the tub, put in a thin tub and sit it in some warm water or you can just mash it in their meal, most dogs will just eat it as a chunk.

Yes, your dog could gain weight, it's a highly saturated fat....so depends how much you give. Strange thing is, it is also used as a weight loss miracle in people.....go figure!

I'm so sorry, bloat is just a horrible condition *hugs* Another Angel you know...

Insurance Policies - Public Liablity
sas replied to sas's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
What state are you in sorry? Sometimes this can be a problem depending on how you are set up. National can be quite difficult as Inc. Only means you can operate in your state alone unless you register with ASIC. Sometimes the insurance companies will take this in to account of you are not registered as a company limited by guarantee (that gives you the ability an be covered Nationally. If you want to email us I can send you some more info as to what our insurance covers etc. In NSW but potentialy looking at a neighbouring state as well. We're registered with ASIC for NSW. I have been looking into AON Insurance for Volunteers. We're an unincorporated organisation. Be great if you can let me know about potential insurances and what sort of policies you use and what they cover. My e-mail is [email protected] -
Thank you everyone, it's been a heartbreaking week, a week today but we'll get through it, he brought us a lot of joy and taught us alot.

Thank you, I didn't know you were a member here. Thank you for letting your pup interact with Dante. You may not have known at the time but your pup was an important part of Dante's Rehab...he was undergoing behaviour modification for fear aggression as he was attacked multiple times as a pup. Your pup started his ongoing love of puppies and we fostered many just for him :)

Sorry to hear of your loss, RIP old boy, forever missed and loved. Another Angel you know...

Hey Guys, Can you please advise who you are using, what you are covered for and what it costs you for yourself and foster carers?
