  1. Dry only here unless it's a kibble that allows for a percentage of something else i.e. Eukanuba I think allows for 20% mince. You do whatever is best for your dogs.
  2. might have to tell all my large breed dogs over the last 20 or more years how bad I was/am for feeding them chicken necks Ditto, our Great Danes have them. The only time you'll want to be express caution is if you have a dog of any size that doesn't chew enough.
  3. There's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't try a digestive aid, from reading about digestion issues lately it seems that a lot of dogs actually have digestion issues and don't create enough of their own digestive enzymes. I've just started one of mine of Thrive D and have seen results within a couple of days, when previously we were using a pro-biotic without any success. With yout issues you might want to look into an Elimination diet if you think your dog has intolerances or allergic reactions to foods.
  4. Poodle....all your responses in this thread are bizzare, they seem to infer that it was a justified attack by your constant bringing up that the dog shouldn't have appraoched the person and referring to person training recall to their dogs. I
  5. Kong Wobbler is a favourite with my 4 year old Dane. Stuffless Racoon is a favourite with my 5 month old Dane pup.
  6. I Personaly believe that dogs don't have the temperaments they used to and that's why some people would feel iffy about dogs around kids in some instances, I think on a whole 20-30 years ago your average family pet was a well temperamented dog...why was that....well it could have to do with all sorts of variables from genetics to the fact we were a hell of a lot harsher on dogs dicipline wise back then
  7. Alot of allergic dogs are actually react to Oatmeals shampoos as well as dogs that aren't allergic.
  8. I didn't suggest you were? I'm not sure why you've gone on the defense. You asked for some ideas and I gave you some.
  9. Interestingly enough when my pup arrived when she was 12 weeks old she was peeing every 15 minutes, sometimes less, it was pretty crazy, over the following couple of weeks she was able to go longer and longer. I haven't had a pup like that before but had heard of them but it wasn't to do with a health issue persay' in some cases it was the pups bladder taking a bit longer to strengthen and in others the fact that they were raised outdoors and could pee where and whenever they liked made some lazy and if it's a girl puppy you might want to look into UTI as your first priority.
  10. She can look out the gap at the side of the front gate if she wants to but I've never seen her try! She does enjoy looking out our front window though so I will have a think about it Any suggestions for enrichment activities that would take longer are welcome The only thing I've found that takes her longer than about 30 minutes are marrow bones, but I don't feel comfortable giving those every day. I suspect that sometimes the enrichment activities make her more excited, and wonder whether she'd be better off without them... Enrichment is meant to cause activitiy i.e. to use up the dogs energy doing things that are natural and instinctive to dogs/breed. There really are a huge amount of Enrichment activities and you can make them as easy or as hard as you like. For instance my pup gets fed her breakfast in an 'Enrichment Box'. I started out with it easy for her to get into and now it's bloody hard. You can use scents as part of your enrichment such as scent trails of blood or Cinamon or Coconut, there's heaps to choose from that dogs love. Everynight I spend about 30 minutes creating the next days enrichment specific to my dog that I know she will love. Obviously you can't have enrichment to kick in at different times so I count on the ones I give her to last a long time or make her think to tire her. The Platform idea is one that has successfuly worked with many a working dog in a suburban backyard, however if your dog is likely to bark at everything that goes by then that wouldn't work out well. In addition if you have a working breed then your enrichment requirements would be different to my non-sporting breed.
  11. I have short coated dogs so they wear coats but not when I'm at work, they have access to the house. If you dogs look cold then maybe consider jackets.
  12. I don't mean to be rude or crase in anyway but it seems like you've already made up your mind. So you have black and white 2 options, rehome or put to sleep. Then you have all the think outside of the box options such as going to live in Share accomodation with your dogs, plenty of people do it, you could ask MDBA Pacers for help. However in saying all that we still come back to the fact that you said you don't have time for the dogs so is it pointless looking at the outside of the box ideas? Without wanting to get personal, have you and your Husband considered couples councilling?
  13. This one has been posted before, although probably not helpful for 'Stand at a distance'. Sit Drop Stand Stay Come
  14. Perhaps consider giving her a platform in the yard so she can view the world without the ability to escape or would she just bark at everything? Could you provide enrichment activities that make her think longer and harder?
  15. Thanks guys. I had totally forgotten about Thrive D!
  16. We use electric blankets on #1 or #2 setting. They're on timers and the dogs who can be trusted with them have access to them.
  17. Heya, I'm looking for product reccomendations for Digestive Enzymes. I have only been able to locate 2 products for dogs in Australia? 1) ENZYPLEX 2) Rufus & Coco Odour Fender Are there are others I may have missed? Do you have a reccomendation?
  18. My 2 Adults are on Blackhawk, they go 2-3 times a day and they are large in size poos as well.
  19. Because it's not actually funny. It's disturbing that there's probably something wrong with the dog.

  21. I'm really sorry to hear what happened. Some suburbs have dog parks with sectioned off areas for small dogs, you may want to look into this. I am dissapointed my the number on inaccuracies in your post though......taste of blood.....cross bred with fighting breeds....
  22. My Dane had 2 x 6 monthly ones and they went for longer than 6 months, from what I gather it's a very individual thing.
  23. Sorry but that doesn't make sense. Dogs do what is reinforcing to them......have a good think about where her reinforcement is coming from to have her continuing this behaviour.
  24. I think it depends on what you want from a dog and then you go through the process of elimination.
