  1. While of course it depends on the local council, most will ask both parties involved to keep a diary of times of barking and compare before issuing fines :) Your mum had also done a good job with her other neighbours signing a letter stating Max isn't bothering them, pretty compelling evidence :) My advice would be to contact council straight away and let them know the only known situation when Max is barking is when he is being stirred by the neighbour kicking the fence and antagonising him. (No need to say she suspects this is the person who complained, they will be able to draw this conclusion on their own ;)) Send in the a copy of the letter signed by the other neighbours. Most councils only investigate if multiple complaints are made, either by one person reporting ongoing problems, or different people in the neighbourhood. She won't be fined for a single report. Check with your local council's webpage which should be able to provide guidelines on excessive barking, times, and what it considers excessive.
  2. I wonder if they really are fresh? As in, is anyone checking the useby dates, are they brand new bags or as they week-olds somebody has put in a shed for the horses? Or has Gillie stumbled upon a bread-smuggling ring perhaps? Black market bread?
  3. You are my champion you know Lilli if only everyone shared your fencing stance! Daisy it sounds as if your brother is putting thought into his choice and so he has my thumbups :) Funny that this thread title caught my eye, a customer at work has Corso pups for sale soon, and I remember thinking at the time 'I can't remember the last time I even heard the breed Cane Corso mentioned!' But then I'm sure they are more widespread in the dog community outside of my "rural" city ;)
  4. What worries me about reporting is that if a different story gets told to the neighbours (My dog was just coming out to say hi to the walking dogs, and got reported for that!) then somebody who hears eventually decides hey, why don't we teach this person a lesson, and leave their gates open, or tease their dogs, or worse. I did speak to her again today (Have tried the friendly approach before in the hopes of avoiding council mess) but I wound up more frustrated than anything. Yes, I understand your dog is an abused rescue, yes, I understand you are trying, but you are STILL allowing your unrestrained, dog aggressive dog to charge us. They wanted me to bring my kids around and let them play with the charging dog. While I would actually consider this in a controlled setting with Zeke on his own, who is as close to bombproof as you could ask for, no way is Maya playing with a dog so poorly trained. Just so frustrated.
  5. Teehee! My husband drove by when me and the kids had out roglites on, and he said he thought we were the police from a distance, because I have a blue and Zeke's is red :p
  6. I do a lot of night walking and both my two have a Roglite each, and I have one on my belt also. There are NO streetlights where I live, I need the lights myself to see where I'm going half the time!
  7. No Pav, it's not me injuring your dog, it's the person who isn't controlling their dog in the first place. That sort of thing upsets me to read, I've offered you moral support on previous threads of yours where you have had this problem If I weren't worried by the small community 'everyone knows everyone' and the fact that my kids might end up teased through the fence, or worse, in retribution, I wouldn't have a problem going straight to council. Can you honestly say if you were in my place you wouldn't worry about that? If my neighbourhood was not a single block, I would do this. My other option aside from around this block is along the highway. If you saw the way people drive on this highway you'd not want to walk there often. In any case. Greyt and those who say it's time to report, my feeling is with you. It's time to take this to council as the friendly warning approach has clearly failed. From tomorrow camera comes with me ready to record anything that happens. Council will be contacted the moment I have any evidence.
  8. Well, same again - for a while there, I thought she was containing the dog. Zeke and I walked by several times a week with no issue. Then for the last month since getting Maya we haven't been walking since she's not been fully vaccinated, resuming today - and this time the dog no only charged, is raced across a road and bailed us up Thank god it didn't bite Zeke or Maya. I was torn at what to do - it alternating between a VERY dominant greeting (at least to Zeke) and some barking, lunging and a couple of times snarling behaviour, the hackles and tail up the whole time. The owner was right behind it but she couldn't catch the dog, it circled us for five minutes while she tried to grab it! Obviously in the absence of not walking she's allowed it a long reign but that's hardly the point. From now on it's walking with a camera capable of taking videos, recording, and off to council - thanks for that tip Shep.
  9. Thanks all! She certainly is growing fast and enjoying being out and about. She seems comfortable in the river now so we will be trying the beach soon!
  10. Oh what lovely photos, the one of the scaly looking up at the branch is my fave! Yes, the top one is a Regent, probably a hen by the looks :)
  11. What awesome photos!! Kelpies are such classic looking dogs. Love Mack at the dash and on his dad's shoulders! And Claire's chocolate tris - WOW! But oh man, that fattest dog makes me so sad. I wish they wouldn't wreak such a fun event with a competition like fattest dog. *sigh*
  12. It's alive! Sneaking up on Zeke to bite his tail! River gazing. Running after Zeke! Sand dog! Splash the Zekedog! "Zeke left me behind again! Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeke!" Practising her sits! What water? Liftoff!
  13. "Caught you!" "Mum forgot towel. Sand work good!" "Sand work VERY good!" She's such a funny little girl... lay on the bank then slid in! "What? Is... camouflage?" A tough life as a little puppy. Ooops. Killed it.
  14. Zeke and Maya plunge in Playing! Maya follows Zeke as per usual! "Zeke... wait... for... me!"
  15. The bubbles the bubbles! My bubbles! :D Cutest Airdale ever! Is she an airdale? I am not a terrier exert so forgive if I got that wrong... mass cutness in any case!
  16. Aww, and I just noticed the foal photos. MAJOR CASE of CUTE. Grammar edit. Bad Chris, capatilize your I's!
  17. Interceptor/Sentinel can be used on pups from 2 weeks of age :) But because it also does heartworm this should only be given once a month maximum. For the two-week intervals in between, use drontal or a similar brand of intestinal allwormer only (no heartworm). But it's VERY important you use an allwormer tablet/chewy on him if the breeder has only ever used syrups on him, as most don't cover the full range of worms. With the vaccinations there are two types now, as I found out a few weeks ago when my new pup went to the vet. You can get the old ones, a set of three (8, 12 and 16 weeks) or some vets are now doing a set of two where the last one is at 12 weeks, this is what I opted for with Maya. My vet offered a free 16 week checkup, even though no vaccination is needed, which is great :) These take longer to act though, my very warned no going to high risk places for two weeks after the last vaccination, where the set of three is one week after. Hope this info helped :)
  18. Thr Paws one has been getting some good feedback at work. (But then, most brands we stock do). I'm using Pernease Powder currently for my boy with badly formed back legs and early arthritis and that helps him wonderfully. His is only a moderate case though, and is likely to progress as he ages further, so I may try different brands later, if I see him in discomfort. When he had slight symptoms I started him on a plain glucosamine tablet which worked well at the time. Pearnease has been our second step.
  19. Oh how cute! Love the one of him cantering along the fenceline with the big boys, and the one of the buckskin stretching waaaaaaay down to say hello :D
  20. Ahhhh how I miss NZ weather! Well okay no... since I'm freezing here... but we don't get snow! Again, beautiful clear photos, the ones with the tennis ball made me smile!
  21. Oh how beautiful! Such lovely clear shots. I love Elsie and the retriever plying, and ones of the retriever with the branch. What sort of camera do you use to take shots like this, if I may be nosy? :)
  22. Maya has been going very well! We have had the 12 week puppy vaccinations so soon we will be out and about in the world a bit more :) Can't wait for that. We have had a few outings, mainly to mum & dad's place, where she met friends and family and completed refused to walk up and down stairs! Looks... comfy? Um... also comfy? Oooh. A log! Are you suuuuure this is empty? Aww. Sage gets to lie on the lap... Saying hi to Sage! This is her 'mischief face' :D Playing with Zeke! Maya: Crazy - exhibit I.
  23. When. Will. People. Learn. What does it take? Weather it was unrestrained dog, unsupervised child, poorly trained dog/trained hunting dog or a combination... both owners and parents need to take that responsibility. Thoughts are with the little girl for a speedy recovery.
  24. How interesting! I knew rosehips are high in vit. c and antioxidants... wouldn't have figure dogs to eat them on their own though!
