  1. This wins the prize for most bizzare and inaccurate post of the month!
  2. I got a sample of the raw from my vet once and it had a rank chemical/preservative smell that just made me gag. Definitely not an "all natural" smell as fresh meat doesn't smell anything like that.
  3. I'm pretty sure dogs unattended aren't considered to be "under effective control" and are therefore able to be picked up by rangers etc if they see a need, even without a report.
  4. So now all lapses in concentration causing a death can be excused because "someone forgot" or "wasn't paying attention"? Where do you draw the line? A truck driver has a lapse in concentration, crosses his lane and kills a family on the road. That's OK though, it was only a concentration lapse. Plus he did charity work in his spare time so that doubly excuses him. Right?
  5.  OT: but why anyone needs to assert their authority over their dogs is quite beyond me. Exactly. If I need a power trip I'll go find someone my own size.
  6. Speaking of "anonymous blowin" you joined only a few days ago so you fall into this category yourself. Unless of course you were previously banned and came back under another name, in which case you should probably be re-banned.
  7. Because one parent is purebred English staffy, and the other parent is purebred amstaffs.... Just like "purebread Maltese shitzoo's" Someone at my work was selling "purebred pedigree cavoodles" all that made me think was that the parents had pedigrees :/
  8. Can't vote in the poll as you have to answer every question, and mine don't sleep outside. Mine sleep on my bed, or sometimes one will choose to sleep on my OH's bed in her room but most of the time both pugs are squashed onto my pillow with me
  9. I kind of agree with that. Yes he must be distraught but if he can forget a dog that easily, it could happen again or another dog could be injured or killed through his lack of concentration.
  10. Ironic, considering the huge assumptions you made of the OP. And you came out looking like the ass.
  11. Depending on the date I would put my hand up as a maybe, as long as it didn't overload Ruth!
  12. Are you sure that it is not about getting your attention to play or something? Yep, Tonka does this. It is sort of like they set the thing up so that it 'moves' and then they can chase...quite effective really :) Tonka always pushes certain toys under the couch and then looks at me helplessly to get it out and then he does it again I have to get up to get down and reach under My guys will play the "let's make mum get our toys out from under the lounge" game allllll night. I swear I'm getting little barriers made up
  13. One of my pugs does this. She runs away when you go to pick her up, even though she just gave you the petulant "I'm too tired to jump up onto the bed" look. And you spend the next few minutes playing chasey around the house, showing that she actually wasn't too tired in the first place
  14. lol the only time my guys get their super-stinkies is when I go out coz I can't stand the smell of them when I'm home :p
  15. Maybe it needs to be a higher-value treat? A treat he only gets when you go out, a supersuper special one that he loves. Does he have a food that he loves above anything else in the world? My guys would sell their souls for peanut butter, so their kongs get filled with random stuff, and smeared with peanut butter on the outside so they have to chase it around the room licking it off. Or even a favourite super-stinky bone that he only gets when you leave. Even if he doesn't eat it while you go, it's there for when you are out so he has it as a special "happy thing" while you're gone.
  16. My dogs have several regular race tracks, their favorite being around the lounge, because it involves squeezing through a small gap between the wall and the lounge. It also involves slamming the door that rests open against the back of the lounge, so its part zoomie track part obstacle course
  17. Have you tried giving him something to distract him while you leave? My guys get kongs, and although it takes them all of 5 seconds to eat it, they look forward to me leaving because it means they get their kongs, and they are occupied while I leave. By the time their yummies are finished, I'm gone and they've forgotten all about me and just go about playing and sleeping (true, I've watched them on the webcam, they look at the door for about 3 miliseconds before diving for a toy  )
  18. We've had a chat about a few things and we're going to start with a proper crate but I'll do it under supervision. I want to see how supposedly unfixable this dog is before throwing more things at her :) Good idea. Glad she's got you on her team too :)
  19. But what about crate training in an actual crate?
  20. Why do people have a "right" to someone's front door? Front yards are still private property, I don't think anyone has a right to it except the property occupants.
  21. I read that this morning and thought it was interesting they were advocating breaking building bylaws... but being polite about it
  22. Should you breed & does it change a male dog are two completely separate things!
  23. Got it in one Snook - buggered and ill! The saturated bed last Friday really was the last straw. Hopefully one of them will oblige me with a clue by weeing in their own bed! Except they normally don't - they will do it in someone else's so they don't have to sleep in it
  24. That made my day, thanks for the laugh
  25. perhaps not for a gulper they are shaped to get stuck/cause damage .... The actual neck bone wouldn't fit in their mouth? My 9 + 10kg dogs can't swallow them whole. I got them for my pugs thinking they would be good, but once they chewed the meat off, the bone left in the middle looked pretty nasty (looked like a vertebra?) and the perfect size for them to choke on, so I took it off them. My pugs are 10kg. My butcher has the whole though, so not cut up but the entire neck still in one long piece and I've wondered if this would be better, but I still think the little vertebra looking things would be the same inside regardless of the outside size of the neck piece.
