  1. Might be a tad small... http://www.kingstons.net.au/products/Jolly-Tug-Inflatable-Ball.html Would be surprised if this wasn't tough!? http://www.pimpmypony.com.au/shop/product.php?id_product=91 Ooh these look awesome!! http://www.ozhorsetoys.com.au/main/page_horse_soccer_balls_hoofballs.html
  2. A fat puppy!? Gee here I am making sure I don't overfeed my Aussie so he has the best chance of living a sound, happy life... Do people even care about longevity in their pets?? I have friends who recently got a 7 week old (at the time) Lab puppy. Yesterday after a night of storms the wife put up a status saying something to the likes of poor puppy was under the patio trying to be out of the rain, hail, thunder & lightning but it all got him WTF don't have a laundry to put your probably not even 10wk old pup in???? Pissed me off. They have two kids (4 & 1?) also, not a great example.
  3. Oh my gosh that is absolutely terrifying. I freak out if a snake goes UNDER my house, let alone if it's IN my house!!!
  4. Robo was bonded to me and I realised it at first when we went on holidays and according to his breeder (who he stayed with) he'd behave for them but never that affectionate toward them. And every time I'd get home or go over there to pick him up after weekends away the instant he saw me his entire body would be wriggling best feeling ever. He loved being anywhere around me and was so good for laying at my feet
  5. Unfortunately it doesn't look like Sentinel is useful on mange we don't have heartworm around here so don't treat dogs for it. Vets don't have a clue unfortunately. The vet we took him to the first time he had 4 seizures in a day refused to entertain the idea that it could be Revolution because it had been 5 days between his latest dose of Revolution & a seizure, then another 10 days before aforementioned 4 seizures & vet visit. Apparently that meant it couldn't have been the revolution because it would supposedly be out of his system. Newsflash, it DOESN'T leave their system. That's the exact problem
  6. Thanks Simply Grand, I do hope that warning others to be very careful will help. Definitely get the tests done, another of his litter has been tested and came back as affected - so that's two of his litter, I think it's fair to say Robo would have been affected also (not just carrier).
  7. Big hugs Don't be too hard on yourself, the what-ifs will drive you crazy. So sorry for your loss RIP Montall, hope you and Robo have a great time in doggy heaven
  8. Gee, this actually sounds very similar to PSSM in horses different levels of being affected & the management things, etc.
  9. So horrible I just leave my engine running with air con on if I have a dog in the car. Luckily if I'm in town with a dog it's a small town (600 people) & it's fairly normal to leave cars running obviously I wouldn't do it in any unfamiliar town. I find summer slightly stressful, the number of times our power goes off makes it impossible to leave a dog at home in case it turns off (because the house instantly gets hot), yet leaving them outside means there could be snakes (I'm pretty paranoid). So I try to make OH take the dog to work with him (on the farm) when possible. Luckily I only work 2.5 days a week or it would be a lot more stressful!
  10. Is this the same as the one that can occur in Old English Sheepdogs? My friend's OES collapsed at the dog park when she was playing with another dog, had a night on fluids & was back to normal. http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamerica.org/Health/EIC.php http://www.animalgenetics.us/Canine/Genetic_Disease/EIC.asp Sounds like it's preventable as long as you know about it. And if it is caused by the muscle's difficulty in removing heat just the cooler climate alone may not be enough & over-exercise may trigger another attack?
  11. Danois my Robo dog used to do that too! Every time I'd go to Perth I'd buy him a new soft toy and he had heaps that were his cuddle buddies that he'd carry around and lick better and nibble at them and stuff :) But he never really brought a toy to anyone... I'd usually grab one for him though, may not have had a chance :)
  12. I was telling a co-worker about a brood bitch I know who has been "retired" from having puppies & is such an awesome mum etc. she'll look after puppies that aren't even hers. And to my surprise the co-worker was like "Aww that's so sad! She doesn't get to do what she loves to do any more, don't you think that's a shame?" I was actually surprised, I personally feel like they must find it annoying haha because far out I wouldn't want to have a heap of puppies hanging off me!! But yeah she does have a point, she obviously enjoys being a mummy-dog :) I thought it was interesting :)
  13. I once went to the park across the road for about 5 minutes & my dog pooped. Haha, I was so bummed, I had to run back to the house for a bag and go back (let's call it the walk of shame), find it & pick it up. Ughh I was so worried that the security driver would pick me up for it (it's probably not his job anyway), I had my speech ready (along the lines of "Yes I forgot a bag but there's one at home and I'll be back in 2 minutes!!!" And to be completely honest, about the original post, I don't think you did anything wrong. Those girls were looking for a fight IMO & there's no reasoning with stupid.
  14. Only when I want more dogs Luckily we both love Aussies so choosing a dog isn't difficult. OH doesn't care what colour/appearance/etc. it is as long as it has a good temperament & he can teach it tricks. He knows that I want to do it all correctly and feed good food, go crazy on toys, have a nice bed for it & keep it inside (even though hair ends up everywhere). I just have to keep up with the cleaning more :)
  15. So sorry for your loss Seren it's a horrible feeling losing a four-legged family member. ((hugs))
  16. Thanks guys the kind words are really lovely, so miss him. I saw his sister yesterday and golly she looks so similar it was a bit of a jolt leopuppy I think they're the lists I've been poring over. I haven't found any other drug (yet) that is absolutely completely definitely safe for treating mange (because that's how this all started ). We gave him Revolution and didn't realise selamectin was the active ingredient & was on the dangerous list even moxidectin (Advocate) isn't safe & I think (off the top of my head from the limited so far research I've done) they're the main two that treat mange.
  17. Thanks so much for the kind words guys Labadore, I don't know, I feel like I should contact them about putting a warning for certain breeds & to take care if you're not 100% sure whether your dog is MDR1 affected. I don't want to get into it on here though, his breeder & I have been in contact with many others with the same experiences & it sounds the same as his symptoms, plus it's too late to do anything now I wish I'd known more about it before I gave it to him though. Because I definitely wouldn't have!! Lisa, he was such an awesome Aussie, definitely very lucky that I had the privilege of owning him, even for such a short time because he had an absolutely wonderful temperament with not a mean bone.
  18. Thanks guys, we're pretty torn up right now. His breeder is letting us borrow one of her dogs so the house isn't so empty lovely dog so it does help :)
  19. Sadly on the 30th November after suffering a reaction to Revolution, my beautiful Aussie shepherd, Robo, passed away tragically. Absolutely devastated and will miss his gorgeous, gentle nature & goofy antics. Such a well-loved dog and I wish we could have done more for him Far too young.
  20. That was disturbing... I wouldn't be putting my face that close to any sized dog with it's eyes wide like that & growling that much!! Just asking for trouble. I did like the Dachie that jumped into the bath, that was very cute. The boxer & bulldog were entertaining too with their "maybe if I play with you you'll forget about bathtime" hehe, cute. It could be a nice video if there weren't idiots in it!!
  21. I love this show!! OH & I haven't had a chance to watch this episode together yet (harvest) but I'm looking forward to it!!! Love the greyhound in it, he looks absolutely lovely. I want one. guess who won't let me
  22. I have a boy dog...the biggest issue I find is that he gets some of his belly fur wet after a wee which grosses me out if I accidentally touch it. Plus it makes the hair all icky when it dries. Plus I'm not a fan of the cocking his leg on everything but I just find I have to keep an eye on him if we go somewhere and take him somewhere appropriate if he's busting. But OMG trying to have a conversation with someone while my dog is around and he's got his red lippy out on show!!!!! usually when he's cuddling me That said he is the sweetest, cuddliest most playful dog, great with pretty much everyone (does take a bit to go up to strangers but he's improved heaps with more socialisation) & is so affectionate.
