  1. I have found what I was looking for.
  2. Probably not much use to you but a friend of mine has had 2 litters born by frozen semen in the last 6 months and both had 13 pups. Litters were from different sires and dams. Stuart Mason at Monash Vet (Melbourne) did the inseminations.
  3. Hi All, I have not been able to find the rules regarding what and what is not allowed in regard to naming puppies. If anyone is able to point me in the right direction I would be most appreciative. The particular point in question is about including the name of a different breed of dog in the name. From memory there was something that stated that the name of a puppy could not include anything that may be misleading to the breed of the pup. Example if I was registering a litter of Poodles I could not name them Prefix Havanese Something
  4. If you are only going on the fact that you have read some dogs have an allergy to beef and yours is not one of them then I would not hesitate to feed beef as well as other options. If your dog is allergic to beef I cannot see that mixing it with something else will prevent the allergy.
  5. I'm another fan of this. I just make a slurry with a small amount of warm water and a teaspoon of powder. Have never had to use it on the dogs for anything but mild diarrhoea but one dose has always cleared it up. I did not realise it had such a large range of uses as Steve has pointed out though.
  6. I agree with this. Also I have seen many neutered dogs humping so I don't think desexing is necessarily going to affect this. As to anyone that says they would have females speyed because of the risk of them becoming pregnant but keep males entire as I have heard on many occasions, it is the male that is able to mate bitches all year around and thus could be responsible for more unwanted puppies being born that the female that is only able to have one or maybe two litters in a year. It basically comes down to responsible ownership as I the case with most things dog related.
  7. Sorry to hear this news SLF but IMO you have probably done the best thing for the pups and hopefully now you will be able to concentrate on giving the remaining ones the very best of care and love that you obviously have. Good luck
  8. Thanks Dr Bruce. Yes - I can work something. cavNrott and fbaudry - I'll be in touch. I would also be interested in more details about this Erny.
  9. I'm delighted to say that my decision to seek a second opinion about treatment of my girl's granuloma has paid off. Instead of committing her to a life on cortisone and the subsequent side effects of that she has to date had 4 acupuncture sessions and various herbal mixes together with a slight change to her diet. One of the two granulomas has reduced in size by about one third and the second one by a bit less than that. Not a total fix at this stage but on the way not only to help the current issue but to get her auto immune balance back to where it should be or at least closer. We expect another couple of acupuncture sessions and another month or so taking the herbs before the situation is re evaluated. Change to the diet simply - add more vegetables (anti inflammatory) and some offal. Fingers crossed the improvement continues.
  10. Wooppee. Runner Up Best in Show was sired by a dog I bred, he excelled in the ring and now his progeny is doing the same. Really pleased with this result.
  11. Hairy bunch indeed they are Juice but just imagine how much hairer they would be if no trimming was done! Somehow though the Airedale at least and no doubt others simply would not have that terrier look in my opinion. Nothing makes the hours of grooming so worthwhile than to see a beautifully presented terrier walk into the ring.
  12. If anyone is interested the link below should take you to the Terrier Group judging at Crufts. Looks to be a quality group and a special note that the Lakeland is an Aussie dog (albeit imported from UK)
  13. I loved it last year as I was there in person. It took me 39 years of involvement in the dog world to get there but it was worth the wait and if I was able I would go back every year for it ......despite the awful weather and the 4 hours it took to get out of the car park after the show.
  14. Thanks cavNrott. I was thinking it could be risky. There is possibly is something similar here if I look hard enough.
  15. If it is a DOL website you need to ask Troy [email protected] Thank you. There is no doubt that the DOL sites do have limitations but on the other hand they can be administered by people that cannot cope with non DOL hosts. I'll contact Troy and take it from there.

  17. Just wondering if anyone has tried this product from B Naturals and if so are there any issues getting it thorough customs. Berte's Immune Blend http://b-naturals.com/by-condition-c-23/senior-care-c-23_4/bertes-immune-blend-1-lb-p-17.html?cPath=26
  18. Of course you should be able to take your dog to the park. As it turns out on this instance you could not do so without incident but as you say you have been going to the park for 11 years without incident I don't think your judgement was wrong. Unfortunately you met someone who clearly does not meet the obligations of a dog owner and your poor little boy came off second best. I hope he is OK and will not be affected by the incident. It becomes the old should I now isolate him or get him straight back out there situation. Please don't let the incident stop you from socialising your pup so he can develop into a well adjusted adult. It is times like these that I am so grateful that I have a property large enough that my dogs can get enough exercise without having to go off the property so there is no chance of having to deal with badly behaved dogs or owners.
  19. I had one that had both down between 8-12 weeks and then one went up and down for some months. Eventually it did stay down by the time the dog was 6 or 7 months.
  20. Thanks Minimax, unfortunately it did not help me.
  21. My club is wanting to put a Paypal option/logo on our website (website is through DOL) is anyone able to tell me how to do this please? The club does already have a Paypal account.
  22. I raised my last litter fully on raw food and started giving chicken wings at about 3 weeks. The pups did not eat them at this stage but sucked/chewed on them and played with them. I also gave them lamb shanks.
  23. Please don't think l am out for any badge of honour or anything at all like that but he is not my pup at the end of the day to decide I must leave this to his mothers owner to make the final decision. Maybe I am letting emotion get in the way of common sence but I feel I must give him another week and start him on some solid food and see what transpires if it proves to not work out at lease I will know and not always wonder could that pup have come good. Apologies mini girl I was making a general statement rather than directing it at you but I did not make that clear. How you deal with this situation is your choice and not for me or anyone else to condem you for doing whatever you believe is necessary. I can understand your attachment to this pup and particularly as there are only two in the litter.
  24. I often wonder if part of the reason we seem to have so many dogs with health issues is not because breeders struggles with the best of intentions to save them when they probably should have been let go. Unfortunately we don't know if other issues are caused or develop because we are so focused on pushing the pup through the obvious problem that we may overlook other less obvious issues. It almost becomes a badge of honour that we managed to keep the poorly pup alive.
