  1. I muzzle my black girl if she hasn't worked ina while as she can be too hard on the sheep (just a basket muzzle) but after an hour or so she gets back into the rhythm and I can take it off. I have known people though that own abattoir dogs and they have to be muzzled most of the day as they are super hard.
  2. We have multiple signs posted "stock next 5km" normally people are pretty cluey as they live in the area and you can see for ages usually, so you just cast your dog to the left to push them all onto the verge and by the time the car arrives the sheep are off the road the car drives slowly past. :)
  3. I feed my dogs all together except for one, as she prefers to eat on her own. She'll growl and snap at the other dogs if they try and take her food, but I think it's bad to punish the one responding instead of the one instigating, so I tell off the food thieves and remove her and she's fine. Would you punish the child who yells and screams because someone started eating his ice cream whilst he had it in his hand or the child that started eating the ice cream that wasn't his? Sometimes aggressive reactions are not aggressive reactions at all but rather communication between two animals about boundaries and animals need to communicate. If you'd prefer that your dog doesn't tell the cat off for stealing his food either spray the cat as soon as he starts walking toward the food or separate them during meal time. I'd be pissed off if someone started eating my food without permission.
  4. My cat is a jerk and will try and steal my dog's dinner. He had my dog bluffed and it would shrink away from the food bowl and let him eat it. After getting angry at the cat, the cat never returned and everyone was happy. Training the cat is the answer, no one ever thinks of going off at the cat lol
  5. She called them "her dogs". I'm wondering if this is a bit of a hoarding tendency. I would not wish a no kill shelter on any dog unsuitable for adoption.
  6. I was on ute and foot. I was really enjoying the walk and picking wild flowers. i also wanted to have easy access to the alpaca as he really had it in for her and wanted to be able to give her back up but I shouldn't have worried, she had it covered
  7. I got asked by a friend yesterday if I could bring my dog and help him drove his 60 odd ewes and 3 alpacas 6ks back to their paddock. So I grabbed one of my dogs and headed off this morning. He said he was bringing two of his dogs but only one made it off the ute in the beginning to help yard and then it was me and my girl for the next 6ks. I really enjoyed it and it was a learning experience for Torque as she's always been in a team until today. She had a few arguments with the male alpaca but she soon got the best of him and he fell in line. I really enjoyed it and so did Torque.
  8. I know a lady who has a BC that is sable, ticked and merle.
  9. I met a dog whilst I was out droving today, this crazy looking kelpie tied to the back of a ute, asked his name and it was Chris and his mate was Bob.
  10. Changed it to possibility for behavioural issues. I was being unfair. :)
  11. What Kirislin said, at this stage I think a plush toy dog is sounding like the best option. I see a possibility for major behavioural issues with a dog that is owned by people who have no idea who seem idealistic and live in an apartment.
  12. Best not to visit the rescue thread and see all Tracey's new pups then
  13. A few years ago I was doing a childcare course (so I obviously liked children) However, I did not like this doll very much. So this proves that you can like children but not like dolls :D I do understand what Cosmolo was saying though. Intensity of attack/response, not necessarily what it's attacking/responding to.
  14. I couldn't imagine a high energy breed like that without hearing or sight
  15. just wondering whether anyone could send me a copy or describe one of your puppy contracts so I can have a look as I'm creating mine at the moment. I basically want to sell any puppies that are going to non-working homes on a desexing contract and if for some reason they are unable or unwilling to keep the dog that they contact me and give me first choice to take it back. Thanks
  16. Except I can't whistle, I think I'm the only person on the planet that can't  I dunno, my mum whistles by sucking air in...it's the weirdest sound ever
  17. Love the noises the lady is making in the 3rd behind the scenes video. Those were great
  18. I went to school with a girl Max, but she wasn't a pug. :D
