  1. Any rescue who were worth their salt or really needed help wouldn't carry on like that, IMO.
  2. Horse gumnuts = like dog dry food I think. Compressed processed food out of a big bag. Good for them mostly, if there's no green feed around. But I don't have much experience in these matters. I was thinking physical gumnuts from a tree! Even still, pretty sure my cats would just laugh.
  3. This is right near us and absolutely revolting. Poor dogs, poor owners. Just so scary and sad.
  4. Jeez. That's absolutely nightmarish. Are you OK? Thinking of you all, sending best wishes. Maybe leave the fridge lock off tonight as a sign of solidarity ;)
  5. Don't think I'd think of it as a dog act. Should the people who reported it suck it up? Frankly you do what you have to do. I'd rather someone call the council and I know about it than throw bait over the fence or start letting the dog out. People are well within their rights to contact the council over excessive noise.
  6. Because it beats sitting on our asses doing nothing? I grew up being taught if no one takes a stand nothing changes. I know they're not ideal and rarely amount to much but if you have a better idea I'm itching to hear it.
  7. Gumnuts to the cats? What? Pretty sure if I gave my cats gumnuts they'd just look at me blankly? Am.I missing something there? And its absolutely no excuse, I agree with you there KC, what about all the rubbish and crud everywhere?
  8. We had a shocking experience with Hairy Hounds in Melbourne and I swore off them altogether. Recently we desexed Gus and I didn't want Rosie jumping all over him and enticing him into zoomies while under the influence so we took a chance on Urban Paws in Yarraville, I probably came off pretty nuts, I filled in the form and wrote a small essay on her nervy issues, the guy who runs it was fabulous. I got a tour and got to meet the dogs, I got shown everything and it was spotless, met the carers and he sat down to have a chat about how best to manage her. We walked in the door after an extensive phone convo and my heart sank he was a guy, she can be funny about guys. He ignored her totally and just threw little bits of chicken when she sniffed him and by the time I left she was all over him, it was really a breath of fresh air from the last place, who dragged her off when I went in and I wasn't allowed to see anything or talk to anyone and the same happened on the way out. The other great perk was that they put her behind a fence to sniff and say hi first to pick up on any issues, anyone who does have issues gets an awesome day indoors and in their own grassed run. I can't speak highly enough of them and they've totally restored my faith. I got text updates and photos all day, photos of her walking by the river, playing and napping, she looked so happy and I really was expecting a nervous, pee soaked wreck like when I picked her up from Hairy Hounds, but she wiggled out and danced around happy as a clam, I got a full rundown of her day and it made life a lot easier.
  9. Thanks KC and wow she's a charmer her friend Racheal is just lovely as well. I was just looking at the security camera post on her page and thinking the same. Little vomit in my mouth moment there...
  10. I got the xl in the end, it was a great fit. He only got it off once and we had no drama!
  11. I actually saw on their Facebook page this is something they're working on, they're making longer ones for dogs with longer snouts. Will be great if it happens!
  12. These are amazing. Seriously I was so impressed!
  13. Aw thanks! I'll pm you now. Gus will be psyched!
  14. agree, for all him capturing the moment and feeling of it all, I think he's shown a complete lack of sensitivity and empathy. I also feel like that's pretty personal, I'm sure permission has been given to share them but I wouldn't be comfortable with such a view into a strangers life.
  15. Powerlegs I feel like that's referring more to PETA and the likes, I actually read it as very pro-rescue!
  16. Too slow! I've been wanting to give this a crack, have to toughen up and buy some! Haha.
  17. Don't feel bad. Last night I bought 2kg of brown rice and ran to get the other shopping bag from the car and the black ninja took off with the rice and ate 2kg of rice on his own....I literally only worked it out this morning when he crapped pure rice. I was so confused, they looked like maggots! I saw the wrapper in his kennel on the way back in (to consult Dr Google and ask if worm eggs look like maggots, even though I know they don't...). He knew he'd done wrong over 24 hours later too. He was so sheepish before I even realised. Consequently someone missed breakie. Silence is truly the puppy owners nightmare. He was so delicate about it though, it was on the floor in a bag of other things (including meat? ) and he must have just grabbed it and gone without disturbing anything else.
  18. Quick photo update as both beasts are sitting still. If you look in the corner you can see the remains of a shredded bed...ahem. Haha.

  20. I had the opposite when I was young, creepy guy in the flat next door would let Hector the cat in and keep him for hours and only let him out when I'd go call him in for dinner. It got so bad he was prising my windows open to let him out and let him in, he did it to evert cat on the block of apartments and would often have 3-4 in his flat at once. I ended up having to call the police after I came home one evening to find him with his arm in my window feeding him. I have no idea what he thought was going on, but I suspect he had some sort of mental impairment. I still shudder to think. He was creepy
