  1. If you're wearing headphones and not looking that certainly comes into account.
  2. I do have to point out what a crap blanket statement this is. There is no 100% this will happen at all, a lot of off lead park bashing goes on in this forum but some of us go and have no problems, enjoy our walk and come home and think nothing of it. Gus was pretty much raised in our local off lead park and the only issue I recall us having was with a dog who broke off his leash at an on lead park and got a swift kick to the head from me. These are valuable community resources to some of us, please don't spread fear and false statistics. I just have to point out what a crap statement this is. Oh sorry was that rude? I hardly think people are going to stop going to dog parks because of my opinion. What statistics are you referring to? I can't see that I quoted any actually - just my opinion which I am entitled to do on this forum. Yonjuro I didn't think you were offended at my response? Honestly I just won't bother posting again. That's what I was referring to, and I never said that was a crap statement, but a crap blanket statement. I wasn't offended, nor was anyone else, I'm sure. I feel compelled to call a spade a spade, you can not promise someone that there is a guarantee their dog will be attacked at a dog park. That is, frankly, BS. I didn't mean to offend you, but that is a false statement.
  3. Rosie has wrecked more than her fair share of things, this makes me feel better though! Haha. 40k....good heavens...
  4. Yonjuro, I'm sorry this happened to you, your daughter and Ronin. That absolutely sucks. I do have to point out what a crap blanket statement this is. 5. I've just bought the book through my tears. How lucky they both are to have each other!
  6. No way! They're amazing! We take our two and have got a lot from it! There's all types at ours too. I do recommend it!
  7. http://www.amazon.com/Paw-Prints-Stars-Farewell-Journal/dp/0931674891/ref=pd_sim_b_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0442B5699HVFMRE1K6SF This looks lovely, for something more interactive. It has places for photos and keepsakes too.
  8. The tenth good thing about barney' is beautiful too.
  9. http://www.pinterest.com/kinderbookboard/picture-books-about-death-and-grieving/ There's some really lovely looking ones on here.
  10. I don't think so, I know Gus was given bones from the get go, but Rosie was born in a pound and didn't see one til she got here and she certainly got that fast. She is a fiend.
  11. Totally agree with you Kirislin :) I have 2 BC's. My male is just a wonderful, lay back, lovingly, healthy boy & I could easily manage 4 of him without a drama but my girl is Epilepsy effected as well as being very reactive & extremely noise phobic. I adore her but there is no way I could cope with 2 of her. Not a chance.... So it definitely depends on temp. of your pack & to I think it is very important that each dog that you own has quality attention & time spent with you each day. Apart from the basic's like exercise/food/vet care. Snap, didn't see Kirislin's reply. I definitely agree with all of the above. I could manage owning 10 Hanks. Even though he's big and hairy he is quite an easy dog. 10 Odies on the other hand? The thought alone nearly gives me a heart attack  Absolutely! 10 x gus would be a dream, 10 x Rosie and I might just end it all....haha.
  12. 100% better, so he thinks! He's spending his days asleep on the bed. Free pass for convalescence. So less running about, he's got the cone off once and its lasting super well! I took his ankle bandage off to redress and clean it and its a huge incision. Finger size and the bandages were taped to his fur so had to get that off. He was so tolerant though! Such a good boy. And no, nor really. Rosie is still pitching a fit but we just ignore that sucker. Trying not to make a thing of it. Good oppurtunity for some training during the day though with my captive audience!
  13. Signed. I'll bet while stuffing around penalising the innocent here there have been other things that actually matter council should have been attending to. Idiotic. Will share on Facebook too.
  14. Yes. I wouldn't take my dogs to a paddock full of goats to have a run. That would me pretty silly.
  15. What a difference a good sleep makes! Yesterday, super groggy and depressed.... And today... Guys. Can we play fetch yet? He's just following me around the house with a ball in his gob.
  16. Phew! Moment of sheer amazement there! Sorry! Its hot and I'm not that bright at the best of times :)
  17. Wow. That escalated quickly. Why would you be suggesting putting her down so quickly? A young small dog who doesn't like being left alone isn't an instant death sentence is it? Even thinking about rehoming (assuming the owners arent capable of anything further, which is still a big assumption) there are situations that may suit. My grandma lives in a block of units and where she couldn't take her dog, which was rare, next door would take him for the day and spoil him rotten. Or someone who can take him to work/daycare etc. Obviously yes a behaviourist needs to be consulted but why would you suggest talking to the owner about putting her to sleep already? Not sure why thats the first answer suggested to be honest. Understand in some cases its the kindest thing, but hard to assume this is definitely one.
  18. Gus was pretty slow started to mark slightly before he started cocking, so would go pee over Rosie's pee and cocked about 2 weeks after? Always been irregular though. Still mostly squats. Never had any humping. The man barks came through gradually, we do still get mad puppy yaps though. Having said that, I've been catching Rosie cocking her leg this week. She's the man of the house now!
  19. He's in the soft cone, which is amazing by the way! Because as soon as its off he goes for a lick, so that stays on. Rosie is petrified of it. Kwwpa barking at him and he's confused. Other than that he's happy as a clam today. Ate a big breakie then mooched for more. Got on the bed like a brat and has wagged his way around. Even came to say an enthusiastic hello to the police.
  20. Haha! That would be magic! They look like kid prints, very very small and they've done the whole street. Big Maori guy next door was unimpressed to wake up and find a cop at his door saying his wife's wallet was emptied in their drive way....he's a really big guy. That's ballsy! I should glue a pair of cricket balls to Gus, cheaper than the fakies! Haha!! Yeah, we are trying to keep him quiet and dry. Ever seen a dog try swim in a cat sized water bowl? I have....
  21. Haha he is mooching for food and crawling about on the bed and no one has the heart to kick him off. Obviously slept like a log last night though. The one night he's off chops on pain relief my car gets broken into in the drive. Wtf? No biggie. Just took my cheap dodgy GPS but hey. Its funny now at least. Haha. Poor dog. His goolies look so sad and deflated. Brooke was upset they didn't take the sack too. So he didn't have a constant reminder? IFK. Boy brains are whack.
  22. Me either. After living on chapel st for years I'm pretty convinced some of the locals were worse than the dogs.
  23. All home.and safe! Stoned off his rocker though..HAHA. That pain relief must be good stuff! Will post a proper update in the morning, I'm zonked! The woman from the vet called to let me know I could pickhim up, bbut I have that god forsaken talk to text rather than an answering machine and it changed one word among the gibberish (I usually just get the gist and call back) to 'died' and I rang back hysterical and she was so apologetic. She was like OH GOD. NO. NO. He was barking his ass off so I could hear him in the background Moment of sheer terror though...haha.
