  1. That could work too, but you would have to get someone to bring food in, have to work out away for them to do that without opening any doors or gates
  2. Raz - you need to lock your whole house up, you must only use a window to get in and out, but you have to make sure the window is high enough so the dogs can not jump out - all visitors must enter and leave through this windoe
  3. Oh dear - you might want another shovel... that hole is getting VERY deep :D
  4. I didnt think we were targetting anyone?? hmmm I dont think that those who DO let their dogs roam are really going to be on DOL reading this thread anyways
  5. Doesn't that sh!t ya It's really sad, that the % of overweight pet dogs, is so high, that the ones who are at the optimum weight for their breed, type etc, are the ones that look out of place and are called skinny. I don;t have one skinny dog in the kennel. I have a few Pugs that others would consider under weight, but I perfer mine to be active and know that they will have a long life. Not having a go at your Dad. How the hell do we change that kind of mind set :D Nah, im totally with you. He shits me!! I was going to say exactly what ML has posted (quoted below) The vet tells them that both their dogs and cat (who you can grab 2 handfulls of fat under his belly and is 10 months old!) are at a good weight. The bulldog has heart problems, the Aussie has breathing problems and the cat is a Maine Coon that can get HD - ARGHHH Start with the vets who keep telling owners that their fats dogs are ok in weight! My mum's BC is not a big dog, yet she weighs 32kg, she has grabbable rolls of fat on her chest when she sits and she's already had an operation on her elbows from carrying too much weight. Yet the vet (out of not wanting to offend? because he makes more money from fat dogs?) continues to tell my mum that shes "a good weight" and so she dismisses my opinion. And yes, my dogs "must be starving they are so skinny". Argh! Ditto Im with you. Duke (bulldog) had a few major operations as a pup to widen the air ways , he also has a bad heart, BUT he has NEVER sounded as bad as the Aussie :D she rattles the windows ETA: I have kaos - who dad says is too skinny ALL the time, i think she is good, i did try to get a bit of weight on her for winter, but i can not fatten her up !! Nothing i do works, so she gets a coat Atlas needs to lose a bit more weight (he is looking the best he has in a long time) When i started to take it off i got a lot of comments on how i was starving him and crap. I have also had someone threaten me. Said that they would report me to the RSPCA if i didnt start feeding Kaos. I do the vetting at obedience, and there are so many fat dogs out there, i wish i could say something
  6. I redirect - Atlas has only tried it on me a few times, and also used to steal all my pillows to hump :D I would grab him and tell him no, then put him in his crate - he now will hump... but ONLY the bedding in the crate! Kaos has done it ONCE, to Atlas, got a bit out of motion and fell over she never did it again!
  7. lol He is going to wait for atleast 2 years, she is 4/5 months (we do know her DOB, i just can never remember it!) Maybe he might find a girlfriend and she will talk him out of it? any singles DOLers reading this?? :D
  8. He is too big, and i have a sore foot. *sigh* I guess all i can do is be here and help out when it does happen, i just hope he does the right thing by the pups, or gets sick of the bitch and change his mind about breeding her Warley - dad said he loved your dogs, but they were all too skinny :D I just cant win in my house ARGHHH

    Big Whinger

I wish i could use a water bottle - Kaos LOVES water - I actaully train her from time to time with a water pistol :D At on the other hand... i dont have to use it anymore, i just pick it up and he goes into his crate!
  10. They arent a Reg breed, but there is an Aussie bulldog club in Aust. When you get a pup you get 'papers' from them. I had a look and it seems they are trying to do the right thing by the breed. But a lot of work still needs to be done on them My brothers girl is (bull?) Mastiff X Bulldog. There is a % of what is in her as well as what %s are needed in a male so if he breeds her (and he will :D: ) he knows what dog to look for to stick the the guide lines of the breed. They still have breathing problems (worse then the bulldog) and still only have a short life span.
  11. Can i ask where you got her (pm if you like) My brothers girl is 4 months old and FAT, i hate it
  12. Ok, thanks Just Atlas hates loud noises more then me touching hisfeet!! Might go get a skate board today some time
  13. Well, we had a snuggle on the loung with a nail file, got a bit off the bad ones, but they are still pretty bad. He was pretty good, but after 20 mins he took his paw away and stuck it in his mouth.. so i thought i better leave him !! lol I noticed that one nail looks like it is bleeding- up the top near his toe. Isnt sore or anything, but had a bit of dried blood. I am worried that if i take him to the vets they will cut too much of fand he will be in pain there isnt much nail left before the quick on the bad ones. Someone tell me what to do!!
  14. Might just cut his legs off and stick him on a skate board
  15. Cutting them isnt a problem, i would do them if i could (or get someone else to) - the quick (sp?) is to long and if i use cutters at all i will hurt him I had a good look today, and there are prob only 6 nails that are bad - 2 in the middle of his front paws and his dew claws. The other nails on his front are short. the back ones are longish, but the quick is VERY short in them.
  16. Im being flamed in another thread - i can only handle one at a time
  17. They spend most of the day in the garage (concrete) I normally walk them atleast once every 2 days (not at the moment, but this problem has been here longer then that anyway!) Kaos has NO problems. Just get the vet to cut them back to the quick under sedation, then you can continue to trim them a little each week and the quicks will gradually shrink back. Yes you can get the dewclaws removed but it will have to be done under a GA (why would anyone flame you, it's a perfectly legitimate question? ) Ok, i might have to think about it , reg. the flaming - DOL has been getting very heated very fast the last few weeks, so just watching my back!
  18. Well, i was going to talk to Warley about it... but we both forgot!! I mentioned it to my vet a while back, he said he rather not do it, but if it is the case that i need to do it, i will find someone else Does it hurt them much? (i mean when they wake up?) ETA - Also, if i do hurt his feet, there will be no chance of him letting me near him again! :p ALSO :D His dew claws are the ones that grow the fastest - can anything be done about them? (by that i mean can they be removed? but i dont want to say it out loud incase i get flamed!!)
