I dont have any photos, but At is getting a bath tomorrow, he is red. Kaos isnt too bad now as she has been playing in water. My kitten has red feet

Where can i get that from? I had a good look this morning and there is something in there, i pulled the scab off and there is a little puss, but something black sitting there - If i cant get it out today/tomorrow he will be going to the vets, but rather try to get it out myself

Sorry, couldnt work out a topic title I was just snuggled up with Atlas and noticed a lump on his chest, i rolled him over and it is about as big as a 5 cent coin. I started to play around with it and all the fur around the area fell out. There was a scab looking thing on top, so i picked at it, only to pull out a very hard bit of grass (or something that looked like grass, but is really hard). The lump is still there, no puss came out with it, but now there is a hole with what looks like more grassy stuff in there. I had a good pick at it and just cant remove it at all. I have just put some salt water on it, but was wondering if there is anything I can put on it do draw the grass out?? He is also limping really badly, it just started tonight and I am keeping an eye on it, hoping it goes away, but he isnt very happy because he actually let me play with the lump, where normally he would be getting the shits with me over poking him so much. thanks

OMG I am so sorry

Also, another thing i found that worked for a while is putting the bucket up high, so she can only get her head in, and no paws!

I have that problem ;) Kaos loves to empty the bowl, then run around banging it on the fence for hours I have a heavy one I got years ago that she has never tired to empty, and a lighter one she always tips over, as well as 2 plastic ones that are so chewed i am amazed they hold water! Good luck

I dont have working dogs, but i agree. I have never been exhausted from raising a puppy. I had a routine from the day they came home and stuck to it, both used crates, i did get up for a few weeks to take them out to the loo at night and things and NEVER had an accident inside with Atlas, I watched him all the times he was not crated and he has never been to the loo inside. Kaos was a bit harder to train, but it was my fault, I thought she was trained, so let her out at night and she would go to the loo when i was asleep! I loved raising puppies and could easily do it again! And it is just me, no other half or flat mate to help do it all!

The thing that got me is that during the day, you take him out every 1/2 hour, but at night he is expected to hold it for a few hours. Maybe he doesnt know how to hold it a few hours because he never had to do it before?

Hypothetical: Dog Food Question
Teebs replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Ok, ignoring everything I know. If i had fussy eaters that wouldnt touch anything, i would feed whatever tinned food they liked. Even if it was chum! I have a cat who is fussy, she will only eat two kinds of tinned food (and it has to be the right flavour or she wont go near it) one is a really cheap brand that stinks and is feral (the other 2 cats wont touch it! ) I like that Gift one? Cant think of the name now some dogs I am looking after now have it and it smells ok! Both dogs love it as well! -
I am sure others will post more, but I believe in all pets having their own bedding, i would never crate two dogs together. I make sure my 2 get time apart from each other, and lots of one on one with me
-
Exactly, and why worry my vet when they are busy, when i can ask on here?
-
Thanks! Might wait till Friday to make sure it is the whole 2 weeks and give her one on the weekend thanks!
-
I would also never feed dogs from the same bowl, why take the risk?

How long till I can give Kaos bones again? She got her tooth out almost 2 weeks ago (bit tooth at back that she uses to chew bones) She is back on normal food, but Im not sure if it is ok to give her bones, or if I should wait a bit longer.

How Would You Handle A Dog That Dislikes Being Told Off?
Teebs replied to corvus's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I have one that talks back, well, she talks all the time. If i tell her off for something she has a grumble, but seeing she talks all the time anyways, i have never thought of it as a bad thing, she still does what she is told, just talks while doing it I tell her to goto bed and she sits in there woo wooing At least she does what she is told, Atlas doesnt talk, and only does what he wants to do, rather the one that backchats and does what she is told As for nails, Kaos has never had hers done, never needed to, I used to be able to do Ats, but when he got his dew claws removed the vets stuffed up pretty bad and he now has a fear of his feet being handled. I can file them, but can not cut them, i also dont have the confidence to cut nails, if i did i think i would be able to do his - He puts up a fight and is too strong for me, but he gets muzzled and put against a wall, last time he did it he actually sat there wagging his tail and let the guy cut them, much improvement after the first time when it took forever to get them done! -
Anyone Else Have Skinny Dogs That Dont Fatten?
Teebs replied to Missymoo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep, Kaos. I have had so much trouble putting weight on her, she always looked like she was half starved. But, the last few months she has put weight on, and it has stayed there Not sure what changed, she still gets the same food, but for some reason it is now fattening her up! She just turned 4, so took a while! -
I would go the crate, i have 3 cats, one has always been around dogs, since the day i got her (about 3 months of age) so she has no fear. Fanta was a few years old and terrified of everything, me and the dogs, i made sure she knew where her safe places were, where she could get away from the dogs, i also crated the dogs and gave her time to look around with out them. The biggest problem was my new kitten, he was fine with my Staffy, but my other dog liked him a bit too much. It has only been the last 2 months i have been able to have them both in the house in the same room together, up till then dog was crated or cat locked in new room. With the crate it gave Sumo and At time to get to know each other, but both were safe from each other

ok, well last time vet said it could wait a bit longer, but not any more! It is getting pulled on Friday, she said she can do it tomorrow, but i am the working the next 3 days, so we booked Friday so I can be home on the weekend with her. Atlas may pick on her if she isnt feeling well, and if the weather stays yuck and she is not feeling well, i rather her inside.
-
My old staffy was the same! Was great till he reached about 8 years old, then hated vets. We muzzled him each time. At home, perfect dog, but something about the vets worried him. Kaos has been good, but she did growl at the vet a few weeks ago! We are going in again today, but i have asked for a female vet this time, see if that helps her a bit

the last dog my boss bred, whenever she cleaned the puppies and they pooed/weed she would chatter her teeth, was so funny

Just out of interest ... your 6 yo sleeps for 19 hours ?? Goes to bed at 2pm and wakes up at 9am (ish) - the next day ? yep lazy dog, i drag him out for a walk every second night, but he only wants to walk half way around the block then turns to come home, he will sometimes play with Kaos for half an hour or so, but otherwise, it is sleep. Saying that, i work a few days a week, so on those days he isnt inside till about 6pm, and kicked out at 6:30 the days i work, but he sleeps all day, comes in and goes to bed. His half brother is the same, as is his great (x 4) grandmother.
