I was just thinking about getting one for Charlie, our cat. I reckon she'd love it. Riley would probably be frightened of it

Whoops, Just saw this. I use the salt reduced one, and water it down a fair bit. I use just enough to give it some flavour. I haven't done it for a puppy though (Rileys 10 now)

Ideas For Burning Off Energy For A Staffy X
wagsalot replied to iltby's topic in General Dog Discussion
When Riley was a puppy he just had so much energy. He was so good when we first got him, as we had a pet duck (who was in a pen when we were at work) and Riley used to sit there all day next to the duck pen. It was company for him I think. They were great friends. When our duck died, Riley went on a rampage. All his energy was used to dig holes in the backyard, and chew the wooden decking I ended up walking him before and after work, and we built him a sandpit. We used to bury toys and treats in the sand, and he'd spend ages digging around for them. It was also a cool spot to lay in summer. It ended up teaching him that was his designated digging space too, so saved the yard. I used to load treat balls up too for him to chase round the yard after, and freeze kongs on hot days. I'd alternate it all so he had a different challenge each day. -
I never think of looking at esty for things like that. There are some really nice ones on there!

Id be trying bones and kongs (maybe frozen to last longer) to kill some time. Also, I've had a few people buy Nina Ottosson toys off me for their dogs to use while on crate rest, also the Kyjen puzzle range. Might be worth looking into puzzle toys like that to see if it might suit. Hope your pup gets better quickly

I was just watching before and one pup is all by itself up the top while the others are all feeding I shouldn't watch - i keep wanting to see someone pick it up and put it with the others! ETA - He has a friend there now, makes me feel better

Heated Dog Beds On Special If Anyone Has A Cold Dog :-d
wagsalot replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think I might have to go down that path for our cat, as she's silly and like to sleep outside in her cat run, so I can't plug in a bed. The microwavable one would be good. I used to have one when Riley was a puppy, and probably still have it hanging around but im not sure it will work 9 years later. -

How do they work? - Just get plugged in to the powerpoint? -
The Kyjen Invincible snake is massive hit here too (although the noise drives me mental!!) Also in the kyjen range are the bottle buddies - I really like them, think they're a great idea. Its one of Rileys favourite toys.

Just Wanted To Share Some Droplet Shots With You Guys
wagsalot replied to iltby's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Cool thanks. Im probably not going to buy til early July, but have been looking for about 2 months. I've watched the price on the 7D go up up and up on DWI and its slowly starting to drop again now. -
Poor effort on my part this week as I feel pretty average. I wasn't even going to get the camera out, but didn't want to miss a week. I took 5 shots and this is the only salvagable one. Riley was so dissapointed he didn't get to be model for as long as usual Week 19/52 - Riley by shellandriley, on Flickr

oooohh iltby you'll have to let me know how you find the 60D. I've been looking at getting a camera and still can't make my mind up between the 60d and the 7d. -
I haven't done one of those for ages. Theres a thread on here a few years back where we had a whole heap of them.
-
Id never leave Riley in kennels. He wouldn't cope, no matter what age he was. I have posted once before how he's only ever stayed with my parents if I was away. He's never been to kennels, never been left at the vet (Except when he was a pup to be desexed), never left at groomers etc. He's never had to before. If we did go (Which isn't looking likely, which pleases me ) Id get a friend to stay at our house with Riley. That way his routine would stay the same at least, and he'd be in a familiar place.

I have a online dog toy business that gives me my dog fix to keep me sane from the boring accountant job I also do
-
Thats another problem we would have, my parents and my aunty and uncle would be overseas also, and they are the only ones that have ever looked after Riley, so I wouldn't even have anyone he knows to leave him with. I highly doubt the trip will happen (we have a house renovation planned so that will suck most of our budget ) but I was curious if I was the only that thought on the "morbid side" of things. ETA I left him for 2.5 weeks a few months back with my parents while I was overseas, but he was 9 then. 11.5 just scares me. I don't want him to get old

My OH has been bugging me for a holiday to the US next year, and also to England to visit some relo's. It would probably be a 3 week trip. Theres quite a few factors that won't let us go (so its pretty unlikely it will happen), but also I hate the thought of leaving Riley for 3 weeks, as he'd then be 11 and a half. As much as he's really good at the moment, in good health etc I just think theres always the chance something could happen, and I don't think I could ever forgive myself if he died while I was away. Does anyone else start thinking like this now their dogs getting older?

What about contacting someone that makes jumpers - they might be able to make one up specifically to suit. ETA - Maybe try here http://www.fluppies.com.au/category294_1.htm
