Three Questions About Canine Pregnancies And Whelping
becks replied to Parkeyre's topic in Breeders Community
All between day 58-62, never made it to 63 days yet! (from first mating) -
I would go to the vet, could be an infection or something else starting up. I've never had a bitch pass blood after being speyed either.

does she normally have phantoms after a season? -
harness where you attach the lead at the front (on chest under chin) not over the shoulders.

Terrier Grooming | Hand Stripping
becks replied to Twillyon's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You might have better luck, if you look on the DOL breeder pages for a terrier breeder in your area who can either strip the dogs for you or show you how it is done - it isn't difficult, just very labour intensive and hard on the body to strip dogs when you are a pro groomer (especially when like me, you have stripped dogs at home to keep groomed too!) -
Yes, colour is important to me, as are markings. I don't like dogs who have non-symetrical markings, I don't like dogs with light eyes (which to me is anything over dark brown/black) or eyes which are oddly coloured/marked and within my breeds I have a liking for particular colours. So I would turn down an otherwise perfect dog as it wouldn't be the perfect dog for me. I have recently turned down a pick of litter as when I went to see them, I didn't think the pups had enough work potential. I think I've got more fussy now I have a few dogs already, so the next one has to tick all the boxes, not just most of them.

I'm afraid I have a rule and never reply to emails that provide no name, past experience shows they tend to just be tyre kickers.

Best treatment I have found is to spray the house and dust with diatomaceous earth and to just give the dogs a flea bath - it is the only method that has worked for me. The other flea treatments are very expensive by comparison, especially when they don't work and you have multiple dogs!
-
I think it was to harsh, instead of forming a judgement from a very brief reply to a couple of questions, you should have asked them more about their intentions for the pup and why they would want a litter, open a dialogue with them or get them to call you about it. Then you can make an informed decision and explain your decision to them in a less confrontational way. Jumping straight to the ignorant/evil puppy buyer conclusion just leaves the potential buyer with a bad view of reputable breeders and sends them into the arms of the BYB/puppy farm market.

Must do! They make a human version! http://www.petzlife.co.uk/category/OralCare.html

I don't think a person has to be a judge to be a 'face', to me it is a person who has a reputation of winning. --------------- Yes, I see face judging happening, particularly noticeable when you have judges who will be doing your breed in the next few months hanging around the breed ring to see who is getting put up

I'd like a puppy just for xmas and in the colour to match my decorations, will you have anything in red, green and gold? Any size pup will do as it will be throw out along with the tree in the new year.

Unable To Keep Dog Thats Under A Contract
becks replied to pinkpuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Someone who is experienced in the show and breeding world should have known to ask about a contract BEFORE handing over a deposit. -
The EU is going to have the same rules for the pet passport, so a dog can travel into the UK just 21 days after having a rabies vaccination - no more blood test or 6 month wait. Export rules will depend on the country the dog is being sent to!

Sounds like a reaction at the vaccs site, should go down on its own over the next few weeks. I can feel the chips on some of my dogs, but only on the ones where the chip has moved down the shoulder. It feels like a grain of rice.

Unable To Keep Dog Thats Under A Contract
becks replied to pinkpuppy's topic in General Dog Discussion
PP you are a breeder of labs who has in the past given money to buy back a pup you bred - so I presume here you used contracts with your puppy buyers?? So why didn't you talk to the rottie breeder about a contract BEFORE you put a deposit on the bitch? Why are you unable to spend the time on exercise and training with this girl so she is mentally satisifed and doesn't feel the need to bark and wreck your yard? -
Can't help you with that, but Sweden, like the UK is changing its import rules from Jan 1st.

Looks like a mongrel to me - after all gotta keep the cross-breed mongrel owners happy to!

Why not just get pup onto the same adult food as the other dogs? Puppy food isn't really necessary - how many generations were raised before that came out? ;)

Agree, next time he tries it tell him you are to busy and he will have to make an appointment or try another groomer. Worst client I had similar to this, phones me at 8pm one evening (they had just got in from work) and wanted me to go out to groom their dog (back in the day when I was mobile) they lived a good 30 - 40 minutes away and the dog would take a couple of hours to groom (on a good day). The chap got really upset and abusive with me after I refused to go out that night, even after I explained I had an early start the next morning I refused to book the dog in again after that. My business was at a point where I had enough good clients to not have to put up with the crap, who needs that extra stress in life?
-
I'd just use a choke chain and clip that to the lead as well as the harness, then if he starts to back out the collar will tighten up so he can't get totally free.
-
Except the exact opposite of that happens!

From what I have read, it can come down the dog and bitch line, so I would give very serious thought to breeding from the sister or dam again. Have you spoken with the breeder of your bitch and the breeder/owner of the stud dog to see if they know of relatives who were the same?
