Fantastic, thanks Nekhbet! Any pointers on using the flirt pole? edit, damn predictive spelling thingy is annoying.
-
Bewdy, but it seems like they only sell in 100 tabs or individual which is a bit of a pain.

Thanks very much!

Ahh, great, thanks very much I think you have saved me a LOT of money! Is Popantel the brand or type that I should be getting and it this only sold at vets?

Hiya My 19.6kg Husky puppy is on Panoramis for flea and heart worm, but I don't believe that this treatment covers some intestinal worms? Is there something that I should be adding as he does get some raw food in his diet? He was on drontal for his first 16 weeks. I don't want to go overboard with medications so hoping to get some advice on what I should be using. Thanks in advance

Excellent, that is great advice Aidan2! Just the sort of info that I was looking for to get me started. And yeah, I have heard a lot of dominance myths, Kathy Kopellis McLeod sent me a booklet she wrote dispelling many of these. Thanks again!

Hello, I have invested in the leather tug set from K9 http://www.k9pro.com.au/tug-kit-leather-young-dog-or-new-trainer-1342.html I am hoping to get some advice on training techniques so I can have some fun with my Husky puppy that is almost 6 months old. I really know next to nothing about this, I want to use this training to stimulate both mind and body. I do have a trainer that I have been seeing for the last 8 weeks and I am sure she will be able to help and I will be seeing her next week, but just wanted to do a bit of homework and hopefully get some advice from the knowledgeable people on this forum :)

Remind Me, What To Do If An Aggressive Dog Rushes Me
Yonjuro replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
Great thread this! My trainer told me one after my puppy was attacked and bitten at an off-leash dog park recently. She suggested that I throw a handful of training treats in the path of the oncoming dog. Obviously this may not work on all occasions, but certainly might. Of course this would depend on you carrying a fully loaded treat bag with you, which I do as walking is always training. I haven't tested this as I avoid these type parks now. She concedes that this will probably make the owner annoyed but if it saves an attack it is worth trying. Anyway it seems that one needs different strategies for different scenarios and there is some great ideas in this thread. -
That's brilliant! I bought the Hurtta rain coat for my Husky (yes I know it is a bit weird LOL) My boy gets walked early every morning and evening and I can't see me being able to wimp out because of the rain :D It really is a quality bit of kit $45 + $12 shipping down from a rep of USD $70. My reason for buying it is just so I can use it in heavy rain (the Husky coat is quite water repellant in light rain) and not have to go through a major drying episode every time it rains. Another one to consider is the Non-stop dog wear - cover light. They make really top quality dog gear, there is an Aussie distributor that would be able to get one in if you wanted it. I have a their line harness, collars and running line, very high quality stuff. http://www.non-stopdogwear.no/eng/Our-products/Active-equipment

Have a look at Hurtta dog coats they are not cheap but from all reports they are the ultimate. You can pick them up reasonably on ebay. http://www.hurtta.com/EN/Products/

I probably have not done the right thing on the couple of occasions I treated my dog for the runs?? I didn't starve him at all, I just gave the SE + probiotics half an hour before his meal and he was fine next poop. I suppose it is really down to the severity of the runs, I don't believe that in Ronin's instance it was severe.
-
This sounds like one I would like to pick up. Thanks for the heads-up. Does anyone know where this is available from before I go a googling?
-
In my limited experience, poop is normally firm the next time they go and I would do 2 or 3 more doses . Others will be able to better advise time to see vet if the runs persist. I would guess 24-48 hours depending on the severity and colour of the diarrhoea or other symptoms that may also be present. If you are really worried then a trip to the vet is always best I think.

After receiving a bunch of messages from members of this forum, will continue to discuss these topics. Thanks. Great stuff!

I am only surmising here but I would imagine the older the puppy is the more accurate the prediction would be??? A bit like weather, the closer to the forecast the more accurate the prediction? Just for fun, here is another pic I too of Ronin today, next to my 6 year old daughter Caitlin

You don't need birth weight, I put in Ronins weight today and it does a calculation referenced with the birth day.
-
Hiya Just for fun now, as I really have no idea how accurate something like this can be - I found this calculator online that estimates what your puppy will weigh when fully grown. http://www.puppychart.com I put Ronin's details in and the estimated weight of 26kg is exactly what the breeder estimated that Ronin will be when fully grown. * and was born On the date my puppy weighed Adult weight: 26.0 kg And here is a pic of my little (big) monster LOL

I bought the Hilde Hemmes Calendula tea from a health food shop and it is fine to get you started, however the stuff from Steve as mentioned above has a much bigger and fresher aroma and contains whole flowers along with the petals so I wholly recommend you get some of that if you can, they are priced so close as to not make cost an issue. They also send an excellent fact sheet and directions for use. Good luck with it and I hope your dog gets some relief soon.

What's The Worst Reaction Somebody Has Had To You Dog?
Yonjuro replied to dididog's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh my gosh how terrible!!! Glad that you're ok though (more or less). Are you male or female? Thanks, and I am a bloke :D -
What an arrogant comment I was being facetious due to the fact that an interesting thread is causing such outrage.
-
Thank you. I follow Augusinte Approved on Facebook. Threads like this are such a benefit for looking after our dogs. Must be a thrill for you to have your boy glowing in health. Apologies to go off-topic. Yeah Ronin is the picture of health, but teenage husky plus great energy = much hard work on the training front

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy

O M G! Calendula Tea Rinse
Yonjuro replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hope you're ok, Steve. And your son. Ditto! Wishing you all the very best. -
Unless the issue of the cause of the skin problems is addressed, the dry food is like a band aid. what makes him tick ( or misfire) needs to be considered as well. Could I usggest you look at posts by these two users Erny & Steve ( in alphabetical order). Their emphasis is the whole well being of the dog not just a meal. There is likely more doable after careful reasearch. Good comment and suggestions VizslaMomma! One thing that I have been adding to my dogs food for a couple of months after some itchiness is Augustines Approved Super Boost. I am not sure if it is this, the change to a fish based food or the Calendula tea, or a combination of all three but my boy doesn't have and further itchiness and he is glowing with health. More to print out and ponder I suppose :D http://www.augustineapproved.com.au
