I have been following this terrible tragedy in the UK on a Husky forum. It seems that many husky and mal owners are being targeted and abused when walking their dogs in public and quite a few are being taken to shelters and rescues due to this incident. A group of people are trying to hold the media to account in their reporting and are preparing a petition to try and make the media more responsible. Here is the link, and hope you will consider signing to show our support for the overwhelming majority of wonderful dogs of these breeds http://www.northernwolf.co.uk/petition I am so sad for this family - there surely is no nightmare worse than this.

A Link To " 8 Reasons Why Not To Shave Your Dogs Coat"
Yonjuro replied to Mystiqview's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes x 8 as the owner of a Siberian Husky I would never shave my beautiful boys' coat. -
I have an app called Pet Phone, it does exactly what you are talking about. I looked at quite a few different ones and this seemed to tick all the boxes. There is also a weight chart and you can keep track of food intake etc. Pretty sure it is available on Android as well as mac https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/pet-phone/id298342540?mt=8

Oh I agree 100% I had a ball too! I liked seeing yours in the water a little while back! I am going to take him to the beach next week, but am a little more apprehensive as there are heaps of dogs off leash. -

Hiya, Had a great time with the family at the river this morning. It was Ronin's first experience with a body of water larger than his clamshell pool. He absolutely loved it and was up to his chest in around 30 seconds. By 5 minutes he was swimming! It was such a joy to experience. Photos were taken on the iPhone.' -

Well said Kavik... you have said what I was thinking. -
...in that case she is probably a knucklehead :D and I was not directing my comments at you it is more of a generalisation from my own point of view :)

...perhaps the vet was referring to the facts that dogs can; Feel happy Feel sad Feel depressed Show love and affection show loyalty or aloofness Show fear Steal things Hide things ...maybe just maybe there are some things that are just like little people. But yeah, if we are going to get hung up on semantics then lets all remove all emotion from speech and only ever refer to them by their species and genus in a cold scientific manner? I never cease to be amazed how people can be upset by the most trivial of matters.

I personally don't use the term but it doesn't annoy me when people do. To me it just is a name some people use as a term of endearment and a show of love... not sure how that is a bad thing or cause to be annoyed. For most people, pets are part of the family but I don't think this means most people treat them like humans. Boy and Girl are terms usually associated with young humans, So where does one stop in making sure they do not apply any human terms of endearment - I say "goood boy" to my puppy all the time, this doesn't means I am humanising him. Don't think "goood female" or "goood bitch" sounds very nice (if my dog was a female) :D

That is quite interesting as you can get the Taste of the Wild- High Prairie which is Bison and venison. It might have something to do with the processing. I believe the Earthborn says red bison meal - which may be dried raw?? and TOTW is roasted bison. Either way, it is good that more of these types of foods being available here, thanks for the heads-up

I have the small Bob-a-lot for my husky puppy, I think they are brilliant. Having two apertures allows you to moderate how fast you want the kibble or treats to come out. Mine get absolutely hammered around the house and it shows no sign of breaking down. Thoroughly recommended.

We send different food and vitamins etc all the time. This is not an issue as far as I am concerned. Easier to deal with than Aussie then LOL On one level it is certainly easier but on others the Russian postal system can be a real PITA :D

Brilliant! Thanks so much!

Hiya, I am sending a parcel to a friend in Russia for her Bulldog - A kangaroo dog toy etc. I bought a pack of Roo Jerky and a 6 inch twisted bully stick. I then had the thought that these type of treats may not be suitable for a Bulldog, but I could be way off. I would hate to send her something that was potentially dangerous for the breed. Would these treats be okay?
