  1. Oh no pudding I hope none of the others go backwards, how horrible
  2. Aww! Who's the one on the far right Denali? I'm loving their face! This is from about 5 mins ago. Passed out from the joy of being on the bed! Currently running in her sleep.
  3. Aww! Maybe he's as happy and relieved as you are not to be suffering random panics! Go Justice! Does this mean more pictures of cute face?
  4. It's still her fave toy but she can clear it in 5 mins now! I've got a golf ball in it but that didn't help. Clearly I need to think larger like you guys! :p
  5. Awwwww look at his little face! Such a handsome bandana! I'm so glad you're back to baby steps!
  6. Those are soem amazing action shots!
  7. D: so glad the dogs alright! Maybe driving around in the paddock with untethered working dogs (cause if you go too fast you're going to hit every hole and that one $;&&@& rock) but on a road or in urban areas? Even if properly secured - what if there's an accident or you're parked and someone harms your dog? I'd get something like this dobie owner I've seen has - some kind of solid steel crate welded onto his ute for the dog. Looks to have padding on the inside and very secure. None of this swinging around getting choked/spinal injuries/all manner of accidents. Or at minimum get a cage build for your ute so dogs can't go over the edge whole swinging around
  8. I'm so glad! I've been checking daily and hoping no news was good news. I can't express how happy and relieved I am for the both of you that this was med side effects! Troopers both of you, I admire how much work you're putting into helping him be a happy pup! And blinkblink is a grade A champ for helping you out like this. Cheers for all 3 of you!
  9. Definitely impulse control. I'm still learning myself but I haven't had my arm jerked off for a wallaby in awhile and her reactivity to other dogs (aka small fluffies) has improved through the roof so I'll attach some info sheets that I've found useful. Does she know leave it? leave it.pdf We also have a 'game' we play which is operant conditioning as I understand it. It goes like this: - dog wants something i.e. hunk of roo, ball, to come inside - dog doesn't get the thing she wants until she looks at me calmly - no commands i.e. Dog wants the roo? I'm waving the roo around all over the place but she only gets it if she looks at me. So I can basically tapdance while swinging a piece of meat around (have not actually done this) and she sits and looks at my face calmly even when it's flying around in HER face. I then release word her to go eat the roo. Aside from the release word there is no words involved as we're trying to teach her it's a choice to prefer looking at me to get that thing the person wants? Here's a video of someone doing the same thing with a hawk and with an awesome explanation. Also called "Look away"? It's so when she sees something she wants (rabbit! Wallaby! dropped sausage!) she looks at me instead of running full pelt at it. Obviously not all those times I'm going to release her but she's been training into it. (or something she desperately wants to get away from but again instead of running blindly, looks at me) To add: even though I can call her off a rabbit I would never leave her unsupervised around a rabbit. That drive will win eventually when she gets bored. So maybe get your friends on creating a setup so dog can not access other pets. Ie my rabbits have an always closed door with a baby gate that leads to a very secure chook pen with a fence around it.
  10. Can you see if your landlords will let you install ...idk the proper name... A coyote roller? It makes it so they keep slipping off the fence. I saw one recently and considering it myself...you can make home made ones too, check out Google for how?
  11. Going to watch this thread like a hawk ;) I hope you find some sweet places!
  12. :D Wow I've never heard of that cat breed before! ;p I wish there was a national database I've got 2 pets on central animal records but the dog is on the national pet register. Makes things a bit confusing.
  13. It took 6 months to get our microchip updated x-x and one pets microchip was registered to me then became unregistered? So I had to send an email to get him registered again so worth checking... And for the 6 months it was a nsw chip registered to ?someone manager at the pound? And the rescue had thought it was changed to them. Turns out that paperwork never went through and even tho she's now registered on the national database the nsw chip isn't in my name and cause I'm not a resident I can't change it? But the nsw database was notified by national database so they changed it to out of date and a note to refer to the national register :/ id prefer it in my name cause road trips will be through nsw and I worry a tired ranger will take her back to some pound in the middle of nowhere...I've got all the ownership evidence etc but you hear such horror stories! Most of the time was waiting for confirmation or responses D: All this trouble will be worth it if something happens though! (man I hope I can get that Gps collar)
  14. Not nearly as bad as people on here but I find people think Thistle is "being calm" when she's actually gone beyond her nervousness/anxiety (crying, lip licking all the more desirable signs of worried but responsive/can turn it around...) and has shut down. So she'll be stiff as a board but not reacting to anything. Frozen in fear basically and I've either got to drag her away from whatever scary thing or pick her up and walk a few metres away. Can't do anything with her if she's like that. At least when she's cowering and bolting ppl get the body language but when she freezes I find well meaning but clueless ppl more of a hassle because they don't see the difference between a dog statue and more relaxed behaviour.
  15. She'll lick my hands but her kisses on the face are quick and small. Considering she likes to eat cat poo, can't say I mind I, of course, give her kisses all the time. She likes it because it means cuddles. Cuddles are important.
  16. 75% of the reason I open dol as much as I do is to see how Justice is going. Wish we could do something to help
  17. K9creations for both normal and slip collar for me - bonus is you can email them with patterns you would like! They're currently on holiday and it's about a 2-3 week wait to get stuff, maybe a month if busy. Also can get extra padding. Just placed an order for a 2nd collar today! and one for a friend. I also have a lovely rogz in purple side release and a matching martingale but they only do chain ones I think
  18. Glad he made it through a day without a full meltdown! Especially to the vb. I hope these ssri help. Perhaps you can log melt downs or extreme events per day? If you're not already doing so, then fingers crossed in a month you can look back and go "well it's only twice a week now and last month it was 10!"? Idk what my mobile predictive text is thinking
  19. I just saw this and will place and order tonight. Thank you!
  20. Haha yes looks like I lost some words while typing. Head back out at night, even without the sunlight as it may remind him he likes the yard and it's not so scary? And give a bit of fresh air, maybe a shake or roll or any kind of normal behaviour you can reward him for? Sounds a good plan between the drugs. Hang in there, both of you!
