  1. We have no sand in the garden only a small area of grass. My dogs have no flea issues most of the year but when summer comes like nov dec ish timeline, they start appearing. My dogs are bathed every second week and they are indoor dogs, I don’t know where the fleas come from.
  2. This is so bad. There is no such thing as affordable pet insurance without a bazillion exclusions insurance companies get away with high premiums because they can! My insurance for just one of my boys alone cost more than my own private health insurance.
  3. This is bad, nothing is safe these days. I actually wonder how effective these medications are
  4. What is this? Is there problems with heart worm and flea meds as well
  5. Ah that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. does this muzzle rule also apply to whippets?
  6. Sorry for my ignorance but why do they require a muzzle in the first place? Are they typically an aggressive breed?
  7. This was what i was worried about. Even a timid dog that doesn't have a mean bone in their body could end up on this list because of the sudden change in environment that they are not used to.
  8. I hate these irresponsible pet food suppliers. I'm the first to admit I have been feeding my boys taste of the wild for years. Because I read excellent, excellent reviews on it when they first started - and my boys did well on it. As they are imported from USA, they were also a lot more expensive than a lot of other pet food brands, but I'm willing to pay the premium because I thought it was better for my dogs. This year I stopped after seeing reports of TOTW in the media. Now seeing TOTW being reported as the top 3, I'm questioning whether I have been I feeding them the wrong thing all these years - even with all good intentions. So upset.
  9. Now you just need to wait for it to rain to test and see
  10. Haha mum will have to spend more $$$ at Bunnings then
  11. @Tess32 is it the same version as the one for humans? Good that it seems to be working.
  12. Thanks for clarifying that. I always thought RSPCA was a charity like organisation doing good for animals. But you are right, our world now has all sorts of people.
  13. So is the general public impression about them that they are operating as a business (ie bottom line profit) or that they mission is to save animals? I wonder what determines which pet they put down. Must be pretty traumatic making that decision.
  14. No I don’t let them out if it’s heavy rain. That’s a good suggestion sometimes my older boy goes out and plays in the rain or takes too long to decide where to pee he comes in all wet other times he refuses to go out in the rain and get his paws wet. Funny one that boy! i only need it for those few days a year where it just won’t stop raining.
  15. ah good call. Thanks I'll have a look. All i could think off was the likes of petbarn and they are super expensive.
  16. Can anyone suggest where I can find a raincoat for my boys under $15. I only need it for them to go out to pee when it rains all day. Not for walks. I don’t want to spend a lot for a few minutes . Don’t need a good quality one, just something to keep them dry
  17. do they put dogs down if they can't rehome them by X number of days?
  18. I laughed at this because I have one of each
  19. Ok thanks, I’ll talk to my vet when my dog goes for it’s annual checkup soon the size isn’t big, like a small pimple
  20. I think what @sandgrubber and I are trying to point out is it is not all doom and gloom. It can be treatable and controlled by medication and your dog can live well into old age without significantly impacting their quality of life. I know it’s the worst feeling in the world when your dog is unwell, so hang in there!
  21. Thanks! You guys are so knowledgeable! Based on my so unscientific description you are able to put a name to it! I was thinking I have no chance anyone would know what I’m talking about! Should I squeeze the pus out or just leave alone? It’s not liquid, it’s literally rice consistency and goes hard after exposed to air.
  22. I’m actually not sure how to describe this, I felt a hard tiny pimple like thing on my older boy almost like a mole. But I know it’s not the mole because the mole is close by. The thing is if I squeeze hard enough, there is some stuff that comes out(almost like a grain of rice). It comes out semi soft but as soon as it is exposed to air, it turns hard. when I touch it it’s noticeably softer after squeezing. A month later, its back again. Been like this for a while, doesn’t seem to bother him when i squeeze it. Doesn’t bother him if I don’t . It’s not infected and doesn’t bleed when I squeeze the stuff out. What is this thing? It’s on the side towards the back of the muzzle ( equivalent to the cheek area of a human I suppose). It’s not noticeable, I just feel it when I touch it.
