  1. Congrats everyone. We are also expecting some Goldie pups around the 7th Feb!
  2. Good luck greyseas. Let us know how you go! Also, under General - in the breed sub forums, there is a retriever thread. Come and join us in there too!
  3. greyseas, if you're on her waiting list, more than likely she will contact you. She probably has a full list now and took the ad down so she wasn't inundated with calls. I'd give her a call or email her to see how things are going. ETA: I'm with Bub - fabulous choice of breed!
  4. A shame, but i also wasn't too unhappy as i wanted to go but couldn't get out of work!
  5. My golden girl, Jazz has saved me from getting into strife a few times. First time was when she was quite young and we were walking in a wetland area at the back of some houses, but otherwise nobody was around. She kept looking back which was unusual for her. There was a guy following us - i didn't worry about it at first but then she started a low growl. She then pulled me through a walkway to get into a street, so then i worried - the guy did not go past, so he had turned around once she pulled me into a street. Another time, i was walking along lost in my own thoughts and she pulled me suddenly - i was headed into a huge ditch - she is such an awesome girl . I trust her instincts fully
  6. I've found that some pant more than others. My boy it also a panter! However, for peace of mind, perhaps get him checked out at your vet
  7. Longest i've waited at Monash was about 3 hours, except on the weekend!
  8. Glad to hear she's doing well IG. What a crappy time for you both.
  9. I'm in Narre warren South and did a bit of a ring around the area earlier in the year when my girl was in season. I couldn't find anyone that could even guarantee me same day results so ended up going to Monash.
  10. So sorry to hear about your girl IG. Glad she's at the vets though. Hope everything goes smoothly for you both.
  11. Sorry that you had to go through this again! The owner has obviously learnt nothing. You'd think there would have been other reports if this has already happened to you twice. It absolutely sucks that you have to walk a different route and i understand your frustration. We have a few dogs in our neighbourhood who are just allowed to roam free and i drive almost 10 minutes to walk my dog if i want to walk during the day
  12. I agree. Science diet is low quality food for the money. There are so many better choices that would cost less or the same. As mentioned Royal Canin, Advance, Eagle Pack, etc are all good foods. I've fed my goldens, including my litters on Artemis for a few years now and very happy with it
  13. Fabulous news. What a relief for her owners and breeder!
  14. Its actually very common for a golden retriever to have a few black hairs (usually they aren't noticed!) and occasionally a small patch of black. I haven't heard of any puppies born totally black though, but have seen pics of one born a few years back that was almost 1/2 black! I had 1 pup in my recent litter that has a small patch of black on one of her rear legs - probably around 1cm in diameter. Have never spotted any black hairs in her mum's coat, but her dad has a few!
  15. Hi bjazld. I used to feed my pregnant/lactating girls puppy food, but now i use a Power formula instead. I recently had a litter and used Artemis Osopure Power for my girl with great results (i feed Artmeis Fresh Mix normally). Other than a bit of coat loss, you wouldn't even be able to tell she's had pups a few months ago - she maintained a great weight throughout - i just upped the quantity. Couldn't be happier
  16. I buy direct from Amazon too. When you search for an item on amazon.com, you will get hits from many sellers. Scroll down and on the left you can limit the sellers to just 'amazon'- you will find the postage is much cheaper as mentioned. I bought 6 different kong items recently and postage was $21 total
  17. I usually listen for them at around 7 weeks. There is a diagram somewhere that gives you an indication of where to listen but i don't have it on this computer. I have a crappy stethoscope which is about 20 years old and it works fine!
  18. Hi blackpol. The feeding guide is for the current weight of the dog. Artemis is a very concentrated food. I find that i usually only need to feed the minimum amount for the dogs weight. It's also important to note that the recommended amount is per day. I've had some of my puppy buyers feed that much per feed , so if you're feeding twice a day, feed half, but as mentioned, if you think your dog is looking too skinny (ie can see ribs) feed a little more. I think people get too carried away with amounts. I've fed Artemis for a few years now and i'm very happy with it. I've also raised a few litters on it also without any problems. My dogs all have great energy levels, shiny coats, bright eyes, etc.
  19. I wouldn't worry too much Nadine. I usually swap mine over at 5 to 6 months, so maybe do it now over the next week.
  20. AG: I give my furkids chicken necks a few times a week - sometimes just a few. Sometimes 6 or so and replace a meal (i feed twice a day). Just ensure that your puppy is chewing them, not inhaling as mentioned! For a youngish pup - i tend to give around 2 - 3 :D
  21. Safest for your boy to go back to the breeder
  22. What an absolute nightmare for a breeder! I hope her girl is found safe and sound soon and that the babies are ok when she has them!
  23. Well i was about to respond until i saw this post by White Shepherd mom... i completely agree and couldn't have said it better
