 You could totally rob a shop by taking a cavvy pup in to distract staff. Free pies for everyone! The workplace visit stuff is not a new idea, rescues have been doing it forever. I remember when I was a volly dogwalker years ago, going in for one and the office staff were nice and had a morning tea collecting donations. One dog freaked and hated it, the other dog thought it was great. But this thing with cross-promotion involving a company ... hope the rescue gets as much out of it as Uber does.

What are you thinking of? What exactly could they be taking back to their kennels? Saliva from human kisses? eta nits? worms? radical opinions? From the point of view of someone who quarantines new pound dogs and does not take pups with only the C3 8wk vaccination out into the wide world. Exposure to any pathogens humans can track around on their clothes or feet. That is anything from parvovirus to giardia to ringworm. Access to any water another dog has slobbered in; for obvious reasons. Urine or faeces of dogs, birds, cats, rats etc. Close contact with other dogs. e.g After school holidays there is a spike of kennel cough from pets being boarded. Pups aren't fully covered and immune compromised pets can become very ill. All of these things go both ways. 'Unclean' rescue pets can give things to humans & pets too or infect the environment because they can be invisible carriers. To be clear, I'm not suggesting anyone is sending grotty pups to unsafe situations. :) These are just the general reasons we minimise risk as best we can. Know your enemy so to speak. And don't say nits. You've made my head itchy!

If groups are happy to try it then I suppose if the arrangement works for them it will be ongoing. But no, not something I'd do my dogs at all. Nor the pups we've had. Ever.

Thank you T :) :) I really appreciate the giddy up from DOL photo ladies, all of you take such perfect photos and are being very kind to an L plater. xxxx

I know  absolutely shocking photo. Zoomed in view combo of courtyard dirt, decorative pot pond water and a funny pigment pattern. Managed to comb the duckweed off though. The one on the adoption profile is better but I do like the way the pattern fades away in this one.

Thanks ladies :) next time I'll definitely do the black background for everyone then muck around after that. Patterns, glitters, solid colours. It's just hard to know what people are seeing because all the kittens got a flood of applications and Glitterbug got double everyone else including the almost identical girl on the red. All have started their trials. Criss-crossing Sydney doing home visits, I hope we have a break before another litter!! The dogs, I might try the black too. And although I like the natural look of the backyard, it won't hurt to see. Looking objectively at the kitten photos, the ones where the pattern blurs look better than if they are clear. Otherwise they really are too busy. Shitty focus on her face but this is the same fabric in the background, just fuzzy and cropped really close.

Thank you Perse. LOL can you imagine more frazzling photo days?! But I am still totally loving this little camera, it's amazing. :) You can't go wrong with a black background if the aim is to have the focus on the subject - then the first thing they look at is the kitten's eyes, no distraction. I love the bling beads background, but it takes equal billing with the subject. Anything with a pattern is 'busy' so keeps the looker from locking onto the eyes first up, window to the soul and all that. On the other hand your kittens are so cute they'd look good if they were climbing paisley curtains, great work PL. Thank you! That makes perfect sense. I only took one glittery thing that day but I have several from the indian clothes shop up the road. The other fabrics are things I pick up at the japanese shop. You're right about them being busy. Maybe next time I'll do everyone on velvet first then muck around with backgrounds and see what happens? I did like the way you can't really see the black properly, you couldn't even see the wrinkles and cat hair. LOL

Here's my secret. LOL Courtyard, garden chair, old black velvet dress and a kitten on top. Then about two or more hours taking blurry after blurry photo because they are like kids on red cordial.

I've used Clomav and doggy prozac. I'm not sure it will do much for a dog who is freaking out so my advice is trial it, if it doesn't work then you won't need to keep using it. If it works, you will see little improvements and a less frantic dog. It doesn't work like magic though so Rascalmyshadow's suggestion of a pen is worth incorporating. And line the bed with clothes that have your smell. Leave a slipper that you've been wearing a while ;) and change your schedules so that someone is home at any one point of the day. Or ask someone to be a sitter if you can't avoid leaving him alone. But also please make yourself familiar with dementia behaviour as well which can cause personality and cognitive changes often dismissed as 'getting old' but can be very distressing for everyone involved. Keep a basic diary for your vet. There are treatment options, I've found Inderal quite effective. Here's a short list from Google but there's lots more; http://willmydoghateme.com/dog-health/canine-cognitive-dysfunction-a-vet-explains.

You can see I don't have a photoshop thing. I just use Picmonkey to resize them. Thank you Snook for getting rid of the gross dangler in Glitterbug's photo! Cat blog header, using the fuzzy focus filter thingy on picmonkey.

The ginger boys were so photogenic. I think it's from the black background but do I use it for everyone in the future or keep using different backgrounds for different critters?
-
Out-takes, photos I couldn't fit on the adoption page but I made up a cat rescue blog so adopters can see a few more baby photos. :) Lots were blurry of course.

I'm sorry for your loss Please don't make a hasty decision to give her away just yet. Then she will lose you too, and I think it's fairer to try keeping her safe inside. Are the snakes outside or did one come in?

When Is Too Soon To Get Another Dog Once One Has Passed Away?
_PL_ replied to jeanka's topic in General Dog Discussion
Rest In Peace little Nora. :rainbowbridge:  Jeanka, this might sound a bit hippy but she came to you for a reason and even if she was destined to pass away young, she was loved enough to last forever. xxxAnna -
Fraser Coast Regional Council Introduces Queensland's Strictest Pe
_PL_ replied to Maxiewolf's topic in In The News
Unenforceable random revenue grab. And they will be upset to see their euth stats go up again; because dumping will be cheaper and simpler than giving dogs away. The poor unchipped pets get just 72hours impound and that's the law that needs to be changed if it really is all about welfare rather than money. . -
What Would You Put In A Pet Supplies Shop?
_PL_ replied to Sagittarian's topic in General Dog Discussion
Live aquarium and pond plants! A beautiful green display all lit up is like a magnet for me. It's so hard to find a good range of healthy plants (even quality driftwood etc), I've gone to buying them on ebay. Which is a shame. edited to add; I have no dog product suggestion, your shop sounds like christmas already. LOL -
When Is Too Soon To Get Another Dog Once One Has Passed Away?
_PL_ replied to jeanka's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm so sorry. What a terrible thing to go through, take comfort that you did your best. Some people leave it years, some start looking immediately and some start looking before their dog passes away. Do what feels right and be a little objective with yourself about being on the rebound (if that makes sense). Who cares what other people think! :) They'll get over it. -
They were probably hoping it was full of tradies gear. Hopefully it will just get dumped. - gumtree and ebay are good but if anyone in Cosmolo's area is on the region's many FB Buy,Swap,Sell please keep an eye out. -shared

Staffy breeds and children alike are placed in danger because of the 'Nanny Dog' myth. Labs too. Benefit of the doubt would be benign ignorance rather than deliberately ignoring the warnings. You only need to watch youtube; there's hundreds of clips of dogs being soooo cute with the little baby climbing all over it; when it's obvious (knowing the signals) that the freaked out dog is doing it's very best to keep it's shit together.

Excited Peeing 3Mth Pomeranian How To Help Stop It
_PL_ replied to miss_blue99's topic in Puppy Chat
Do you know what that is teaching her? That you are to be feared ... that's all. She is NOT peeing to be 'cheeky' . Guaranteed. She is more likely peeing because you do not yet understand what she is telling you...and because she is a bit fearful when you approach .. She can also be peeing more because of a BLADDER INFECTION .. I strongly suggest a vet check /urine sample .. to rule out a urinary tract infection . As above! Please, if you read the links I provided you will find that she's got no idea what you're doing except frightening and confusing the hell out of her. It won't help her 'excitement' peeing and could aggravate it. You can accomplish what you want and have a happy puppy who wants to please you. :) What area are you in? I'd like to find you a decent puppy class to go to. Good classes give the owner tools to successfully raise a puppy by understanding simple behavioural basics. btw not sure what you're feeding her but if it's dry food (especially salty dry), in my experience it dramatically increases thirst which fills up their little bladder rapidly. -
Yeah there was this story on FB about this lovely black wolf that was hanging out near a town and going on walks with the town dogs. Of course I had to read up more about him and some sick f*** shot him. He was so pretty. That's exactly what I'm worried about too. You hear stories about famous animals being targeted. Mum used to go to a little scuba town where a huge bonded pair of grouper became well known and some oxygen thief went and killed one with his spearfishing thing.

Thank you! I'll send it through once dinner is over with. Dogs first, husband second. That way he learns the pecking order.

Dogs Giving Birth In Pounds
_PL_ replied to BarbedWire's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I know you have said that is not what you mean and thus covered yourself but I am not 'savaging' anyone and I find the suggestion offensive. The newborn pups who died from the cold were at a pound in Sydney, not a country pound. I don't remember which one (perhaps somebody else can) but it has always haunted me. For god's sake settle down. I stated this thread is mild and it is, so if you're going to dish out criticism and concerns in one direction, put a hold on the dramatic. I took the time to reply gently to your post - because taking drastic offence where there was none seemed a common theme with your previous forum profile- and have been dismissed without acknowledgement that you are holding newly networked rural pounds to city standards. And that you need to exercise judgement and discretion. I suggest you do something tangible for all the whelping bitches rather than decide that everyone else needs to find an answer. Take a step back and think about what pound staff and rescuers find 'offensive' as well once you've given it a red hot go at something constructive. We're all haunted, it's what pushes forward change. So who is wearing their cranky pants today? I have no more to say to you. Have a nice day. Yep maybe cranky, but not classic passive aggressive. -

 I'm so glad! It's all I can see. Opened the inbox to a few kitten inquiries today! So something is working. God I totally LOVE this camera. LOLOL
