Signs Of Early Kidney Disease And Diet
_PL_ replied to jaybeece's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Dr Bruce has a chinese herb for kidney function that I can't remember the name of. You just call the clinic, they should have it in stock. The explanation of how it worked/helped was quite interesting. -
Great way to treat supporters. They got people to jump up and down without being honest about the whole story. And she's crying about having no idea this could happen when a dog becomes a public nuisance?! Only the dog has my sympathy.

Could the mum have done something to the pup?

Most are full castrate. Or a desex voucher if they want them desexed when older. Some swelling can occur making it look like they still have a full set. :) Which is probably what you are seeing. In my layman terms, humping can be a response to stress and change. It just seems to be something the males do until everything settles. Hard to explain sorry. Humping and leg lifting. It's quite predictable. By around 2wks things will become clearer re personality etc. Really not sure why the dog would have had any vetwork done while visibly underweight, and ungroomed. That's not normal at all. I realise it's going out of fashion to wait until a dog has actually recovered and gained weight but it is still the best way for the dog. Circumstances may mean it had to be done early I don't know. edit: If it was a fresh un-quarantined dog, parvicide/disinfect your grooming tools and area used.

Pitbull Attack In Cabramatta Leaves One Dog Dead And A Police Officer

Ugh. Someone take the keyboard away from that reporter and give them a crayon. It's pretty disrespectful to use a very sad story as clickbait. -
Becoming A Foster Carer
_PL_ replied to Kiara & Heidi's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I second this... great offer Steve! T. thirded! (is that a word?) Take up the offer for sure. And I'm on PM if you need a hand with what to ask. :) -
It can just be excitement :) I had a foxy who barked, cried and whined and carried on in the car, it took a while for the penny to drop (stoopid human) that he didn't hate the car .. he LOVED the car!

Becoming A Foster Carer
_PL_ replied to Kiara & Heidi's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Kiara and Heidi There's nothing to stop you going it on your own but I'd advise you to foster for a group or two first beforehand. Just to get the feel of how things work. There's also the realities. e.g If you rescue just 1 dog with parvo and bring the virus into your home it's a no-go zone for bringing more dogs in for 12+ months, and vet treatment for a dog that isn't too far gone will max your credit card. A rescue group who knows what they are doing practices risk mitigation (as far as health and temperament) and covers all vet bills. Biggest tip I can give you: Do NOT just put your hand up to take a sad-eyed pound dog unless somebody is there to co-ordinate rescue, vetwork and answer questions. Otherwise you could end up with a dog in your yard 24hrs later and no idea what to do next. Sign up as a carer first with a group who has the kinds of dogs you would like. Make sure the dog has been properly temperament tested, and is appropriate to live with your dog in your home. And that it has somewhere to go if it doesn't fit in. Because unlike what you may be told they don't just need love to make everything better. Best of luck :) xAnna -

Zoos Victoria Train Maremma Bodyguards In Bid To Save Bandicoots
_PL_ replied to silentchild's topic in In The News
Do you think they bonded to the penguins or just acted as a sort of doggy scarecrow for the ferals? :D -
 yep, it's pretty funky. I've noticed if the pj's have that little bit of bagginess underneath, the young males who have a higher arc of pee when they cock their leg can get nice and wet. (hope that makes sense!) When you're housetraining it gets interesting, because you have to praise a very piddly little guy who wants a hug for going toilet outside. Eeww LOL Lesson learned to clip them up a little tighter. In any case, I still loooove PJ's especially for the old folks who need nice warm hips.

It's worth a go and I really hope they succeed. :) Putting a few sheep to hang out with sounds like a good idea. It could be a flop, but things are getting desperate for some of our natives. -

LG, message Aidan2 about the Good as Gold. He once posted the best explanation of how it works and what else to add. He should be able to work out dose rates. I lost mine long ago -
Need Some Behavioural Advice For A Neighbour With New Dog
_PL_ replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
Little sachet of Good As Gold (horse supplement with tryptophan) is fairly cheap, around $10 for 50gms. Helps with stress. (in addition to other help, I wouldn't just use it without a few other things in place like a crate/box and rewards etc.) -
We need to get our act together.

NSWAR moved out past Tamworth. And I think TD was on a break after the parvo but she could be back online by now. -
Unlikely, but it doesn't make her any less perfect. :)

Sa Nurse Facing Deregistration Over Bestiality Charges...
_PL_ replied to cannibalgoldfish's topic in In The News
Agree. Jesus... yeh wow .. DOL .. wow The day a dog can speak up then I'll ask them about their opinion on that one. Taking advantage of basic animal instinct and exploiting it for kicks because you can, is exactly why people aren't supposed to molest animals. -
Rspca Katoomba Shelter To Close

What on earth are all the local animals supposed to do? Melissa. Do you know..are they going to sell the site or let it rot so nobody else can use it? How do you magically get foster carers in the community...the pets first need a chance to be reclaimed by their owners.
