  1. It's not, it's an extreme animal rights organisation. They would rather kill all animals than see them "used" by humans for any purpose, including being a pet. More people need to realise what they actually stand for, they aren't "save the animals" at all. So true. They are evil and a haven for crazies. And funnel millions into groups even more cracked than they are. link
  2. edited, not worth being misunderstood :) There's probably a compromise but it doesn't matter anyway. I was just curious as to how others felt. Thanks all. xAnna
  3. Hi Vickie, Hoping you can clarify the other concern since I misunderstood your comments towards Jill. Is the location of the 'donate now' button going to be reviewed or not? I took from your long winded post it was not going to be, but do not want another 'misunderstanding'. I think you have your answer. Like it or lump it Malti.
  4. I'm so sorry Kirsilin. Yes, heat can relate to seizures. I'm not sure if that's in the text books but we've noticed it in a few seniors. My dearest little girl ChiChi absolutely cannot overheat. She can't have direct sun especially face-on, and care has to be taken to keep her cool in summer especially at night when she is sound asleep and doesn't realise she is too hot. I can see a definite pattern in her r.e. heat exacerbating her epilepsy or even causing twitching that can last for hours. They can have a bad day after a fit as well, just kind of off. Anyway it may not be what you're dealing with here and I hope your pretty lady recovers well no matter what. xx
  5. So beautiful Maddy, they must have been such a special pair and now they will be together forever. All my love. xxx
  6. Thank you so much I can read his thread without crying now and am humbled by how kind Dolers can be. Thank you. xxx
  7. Seriously?! Did you at least get a reply to your complaint?
  8. Looks like the work of a sicko. Poor dog, I hope he gets better soon.
  9. Has anyone noticed this before? I think it gives the impression that donations are linked to the hands-on rescue of the dog in the photo which they aren't. The button is red and in the top right. So it goes: Profile --> photo -->> donate. And I know for a fact that people confuse the site 'Pet Rescue' with the actual group who rescues and rehomes so of course they will feel that donations go straight to the animals when it's set up like that. Rescue group info remains at the very bottom in the usual small pale text that was criticised when they rebuilt the site. Sorry if it's been there a while and I'm whinging a little late, I'm always in under edit mode so haven't seen it before. eta: I'm not really expecting too many responses. If you're a rescuer, you may want to tell your supporters the difference. Or put the PetRescue logo on your website next to your own donate button.
  10. :mad What an old turd. original story with photos http://www.9news.com.au/world/2014/05/01/11/08/vet-kept-dog-alive-for-blood-transfusions?mch=mobilenh&mchpost=pos3
  11. I'm only posting the link. Northern NSW breeding facility raided by activist. Do not click if you are affected by graphic images. The description is pretty upsetting as well. http://www.smh.com.au/environment/animals/inhumane-and-abhorrent-activist-slams-troubled-puppy-farm-20141025-11ayum.html
  12. me too Same. I keep saying it but you do get a lot more FB likes and shares when you wring every ounce out of a sad dog. So you've got 'no kill' + emotion + ulterior motives like money and promo for your cause. I just can't look. Off topic again
  13. What a vile woman. No idea of this rescue's policies (I'm sure Melita used to be on Dol years ago so they've been around a long while) but absolutely nobody helps you when a dog goes missing so you can do all the checks you like but when someone takes off with a dog they don't want you to find, it's gone.
  14. TD, yes I think there's a lot of fluffing but I know a couple of very very rural (new to rescue) pounds who don't really understand the use of 16D so I think some paperwork is lost in space. I have made inquiries with the Office of Local Government with a representative in the section that deals with S16D clauses and she has advised it is not lawful for a group with a 16D to have associate members and allow them to use the 16D. So what SoCares is doing is not permissable. For the record, no I didn't nominate a group when I made my inquiry. That's my understanding of it as well Ams. Because you apply for yourself and your own group (or individual) on all the paperwork. And they process it as such before gazetting, not assuming you are applying for all your associates as well. But nobody does anything about it anyway so as with most things dog related, you can have a whole bunch of laws and regulations but if there is nobody to enforce them it's pointless. What upsets me is that people accept the stuff-ups of lost or dead animals as collateral damage. The people that loudly bitch and moan about PR sending dogs everywhere are doing the same thing if not worse. They don't even have the money to desex a few before shipping out. They have never met the dog, they have never met the 'rescue' they are shipping them to and they have zero control over what happens afterwards. Where do pregnant cats go when they have had kittens? Where do the kittens go? What happened to the dogs advertised in this thread? No kill. Save save save. Pat yourself on the back and revel in the praise for being an angel. And don't tell the clause holder you've been using their 16D to empty pounds with.
  15. So are you still sending animals to people you don't know? I thought you were trying to avoid the 'broker' method seeing as how you're so against what PR do.
  16. Even if it somehow got through customs as a regular parcel it would be useless because it wasn't chilled. Importing vaccines properly is hard http://www.agriculture.gov.au/biosecurity/import/biological/checklist/vet-vaccines
  17. Looks very different to parvac (which is killed) and you can use it from 3 weeks! I don't know if it would be great to vaccinate so young as routine but in parvo areas and for neonate pound litters it could save many puppies from an awful death. I wonder if they are working on approval for use in Australia?
  18. Thank you ladies His ashes are home now. I need to make more room on the shelves and he will join his friends past. It seems fitting that he is among the ones he used to care for.
  19. Yeh, just seems like a tantie. Remember before FB when people got kicked off Dol they would go start a forum of their own? Happened not long ago as well.
  20. There's no words for people like that. And to have their greedy grins plastered up in the newspaper says it all. It's just sick. I don't know what the new owners are like but hopefully she is better off with them. Having just lost my cat to lymphoma I cannot believe people wouldn't see that beautiful girl as irreplaceable.
  21. My Malmsteen. Chief cat, smoocher, cuddler, chestwarmer, photobomber, gleeful catproofing smasher, carer of little old dogs, dad to orphan kittens, greeter to visitors, unofficial mascot .... and so many more things I didn't even think of until you were gone. You were always here and everyone who knew you cried for your loss. You are and always will be my heart cat. Rest in peace my beautiful boy. Stolen by lymphoma when you still had so many years to enjoy. I did not want to let you go, I hope you understand that nothing could save you or make you better. xxxxxxxxxx Your Mum always, Anna --------------- The day you arrived. A teenie tiny orphan from Ashfield Pound. Carer and warmer to our darling oldies in rehab, you gravitated to them when they needed warmth and comfort Big Daddy to the orphans, even when they were annoying and wanted to wrestle The handsome face I will always hold in my broken heart. I love you Fatcat.
  22. Very very uncommon in rescue to get a genuine PB youngster/young adult :) Some may also be I.D'd as yorkies but they aren't. Keep an eye on the pounds where they are snapped up by buyers pretty quickly when you do see the occasional rare one. Your best bet is probably via the breeders, and I think the Silky Club in VIC has helped a few yorkies when required. You may have been the lady who sent me an inquiry which I'm catching up on now. I was completely thrown by the loss of my big fat cat and got a bit behind. I'm terribly sorry. xxAnna
