TD, yes I think there's a lot of fluffing but I know a couple of very very rural (new to rescue) pounds who don't really understand the use of 16D so I think some paperwork is lost in space. I have made inquiries with the Office of Local Government with a representative in the section that deals with S16D clauses and she has advised it is not lawful for a group with a 16D to have associate members and allow them to use the 16D. So what SoCares is doing is not permissable. For the record, no I didn't nominate a group when I made my inquiry. That's my understanding of it as well Ams. Because you apply for yourself and your own group (or individual) on all the paperwork. And they process it as such before gazetting, not assuming you are applying for all your associates as well. But nobody does anything about it anyway so as with most things dog related, you can have a whole bunch of laws and regulations but if there is nobody to enforce them it's pointless. What upsets me is that people accept the stuff-ups of lost or dead animals as collateral damage. The people that loudly bitch and moan about PR sending dogs everywhere are doing the same thing if not worse. They don't even have the money to desex a few before shipping out. They have never met the dog, they have never met the 'rescue' they are shipping them to and they have zero control over what happens afterwards. Where do pregnant cats go when they have had kittens? Where do the kittens go? What happened to the dogs advertised in this thread? No kill. Save save save. Pat yourself on the back and revel in the praise for being an angel. And don't tell the clause holder you've been using their 16D to empty pounds with.

So are you still sending animals to people you don't know? I thought you were trying to avoid the 'broker' method seeing as how you're so against what PR do.

Neopar Vaccine For Baby Puppies
_PL_ replied to hilaryo's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Even if it somehow got through customs as a regular parcel it would be useless because it wasn't chilled. Importing vaccines properly is hard http://www.agriculture.gov.au/biosecurity/import/biological/checklist/vet-vaccines -
Neopar Vaccine For Baby Puppies
_PL_ replied to hilaryo's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Looks very different to parvac (which is killed) and you can use it from 3 weeks! I don't know if it would be great to vaccinate so young as routine but in parvo areas and for neonate pound litters it could save many puppies from an awful death. I wonder if they are working on approval for use in Australia? -
Thank you ladies His ashes are home now. I need to make more room on the shelves and he will join his friends past. It seems fitting that he is among the ones he used to care for.

Yeh, just seems like a tantie. Remember before FB when people got kicked off Dol they would go start a forum of their own? Happened not long ago as well.

There's no words for people like that. And to have their greedy grins plastered up in the newspaper says it all. It's just sick. I don't know what the new owners are like but hopefully she is better off with them. Having just lost my cat to lymphoma I cannot believe people wouldn't see that beautiful girl as irreplaceable.

Wanted Yorkshire Terrier
_PL_ replied to mysticpaw's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Very very uncommon in rescue to get a genuine PB youngster/young adult :) Some may also be I.D'd as yorkies but they aren't. Keep an eye on the pounds where they are snapped up by buyers pretty quickly when you do see the occasional rare one. Your best bet is probably via the breeders, and I think the Silky Club in VIC has helped a few yorkies when required. You may have been the lady who sent me an inquiry which I'm catching up on now. I was completely thrown by the loss of my big fat cat and got a bit behind. I'm terribly sorry. xxAnna -
They aren't going to ban the sale of rescue dogs from approved rescue facilities in the lovely shop window, but only dogs bred for profit? You either ban one or all I say… Seriously!? VERY few rescues have ever placed a pet into a shop window and no rescue is doing it for even $1 of profit. The profit on the rescue animals has already been made by the person who bred and sold the animal in the first place. The shop makes a profit by selling the accessories they hope people will buy to go with the animal. So is it the dent in your profit you are against or just the limited number of dogs? From your comments you want less laws but more laws. It doesn't make sense. No it doesn't. Puppy farms easily pass their relevant compliance regulations as well.

General questions. Why is it more for mains registered? Do any breeders desex their limited registered to stop them being byb?

That's ok, I don't talk about it much. Rescue is just keep putting one foot in front of the other or it starts to get to you. :) So Bertrand: neglect, all sorts of neglect to the needs of any living thing. Basically ignoring him until he had a long shopping list of problems inside and out. No physical abuse from what we can tell. And all reversible thank goodness. He miraculously hadn't suffered any organ damage yet which was a huge relief. He was weak, a barely walking skeleton but still had some fight left in him and helped every inch of the way by being an awesome little guy who got visibly better every day. So I won't take full credit. lol He's the best. Go Bertie Beetle!

Thank you The hair he had left was snapped and brittle and his skin was awful, now he has a shiny coat and great skin. I must say though, the day we collected him i wanted to punch someone for what they had done to him.

I've no idea if a vet can refuse but IF it were me I'd show them the door or offer to board the dog for 24hrs while they settle down. Many people completely freak out when they see their trusted and loved dog kill something like a lizard or a possum (rabbit, guinea pig etc), it's a gut reaction, very confronting and changes the way they see their pet, the owner may just need a bit of explaining and time to come to terms with what dogs do.

6 weeks of daily Coconut oil applied (and a decent diet). No dandruff or itching, he was much more comfortable. There is still two callouses on his bottom but they are down to a 5c piece. I recommend it. It may not be suited to your dog's coat but if anyone is casually reading this then here is what it can do. :)

Oh no that's so sad. I often refer adopters to her site if they want to do some extra homework. She was such a wealth of information. I hope her family is ok.

:) Yes I'd have to agree that a breed search would not work out the way you'd expect. And some of the breed I.D's are way off although with 'pure' dogs you're hardly likely to make a mistake on visual breed identification of for example a hairless crested, shar pei or a pug. They look like what they are. But I can't count how many dogs have been labelled silky or silky cross when there's not so much as an eyelash that looks anywhere near one. Tibbies.... often called shihtzu cross when they aren't even close. You can always use google anyway to find a breed you want but it relies on the dog being properly identified. Same with cats.
-
Oh dear I'm so sorry. They seemed to be have a going out of business sale, so you may not be paid at all.
-
Yep. But then there's the fact that just because you are new you're not automatically useless. And just because you have a clause doesn't make you legit. In the end. If you're pulling dogs and cats out for strangers (who cares if they call themselves rescue!) who are then in turn helping their mates get animals out and nobody knows where they end up or what vetwork is done then: you're a nitwit. Who has totally missed the point that rescue is more than making sure an animal isn't PTS. And who is seriously overestimating their own ability to spot a liar.
-
 I noticed that too. But at least if someone google's the name the thread will be here and they might think twice about lending their clause out.
-
I've been told that if you read enough on the FB page you'll be able to work out who has sent at least one of the dogs. I'm not naming names but  promises promises. edit: yes Anne you're reading correctly. Not vaccinated.

Love it! :D Well done with her rehab

That's what I was hoping to be messaged about but I didn't hear anything so the snapshots are up now. Maybe it will stop more dogs being sent. Although they are closing down according to the ads.
