  1. Welcome :) And yep, as others have said. Fences. If he can scale when he wants to you can find yourself with a dog jumping anytime he pleases. Not for any special reason like getting to another dog. I've heard of more than one who repeatedly escaped just to get back to the front door because they wanted to be inside.
  2. Nawwwww so beautiful Have you tried Samoyed Rescue? Or Anna@ Arctic Breed Rescue? She's taken them before. They look divine. Should be very rehomeable once they are healthy and fluffy again. edit: Sorry in advance if this is wrong but I think Doler Bjelkier has Sammy Rescue contacts http://www.dolforums.com.au/user/24000-bjelkier/
  3. PMing now. And thank you for thinking of rescue. :thanks: :thanks:
  4. Both sorry. :) In my signature f you'd like to have a look: www.seniorsandsilkies.org.au
  5. Totally agree! I can't believe they aren't better known for being a fabulous family dog. I adore them, and hope to own another when we get more room. B&W female like my old girl eta Hi Pointer Rescue! Maxwell Smart is doing well. We hoped to rehome another boy but his foster carer took about 5 minutes to decide he was staying. lol edit again! No Cosmolo, I've not seen one who didn't like their food except for nerves, but have definitely seen selective deafness.
  6. IF it is just fleas, as above :) and repeating what most posters are saying, go crazy with the diatomaceous earth outdoors, mop daily, replace soft beds with plastic that you can put a nice clean rug in each day then wash it. Carpet: take everyone outside an flea bomb then air it out. Advantage every two weeks until you can get it down to monthly and then down to only when you need it. I do have a couple of very senior dogs here I prefer not to use anything on, they have no fleas because everyone else gets treated and the environment is under control. I can give them a capstar if necessary. Cats: cats bring in fleas, make sure they are as flea free as possible and treat the spots where they sleep incl outside. I've tried comfortis and it's been really good for use while people are getting infestations under control but you can get reactions in a few individuals in which case, stop using it. Itchy/inflamed/broken/scabby skin is a different deal and really needs a vet. Don't go using FB recommended home remedies, there's some total shockers.
  7. Totally! It's quite the spectacle. lol We've got an ancient girl who went around enthusiastically humping everyone. Male, female... it didn't matter. Thank goodness you don't need to keep them on that daily dose for too long.
  8. Senior dogs are the best! :) And most people are kind about them. Unfortunately you will get comments. Some find imperfection and old age seriously unattractive but they don't know how special our old folks are. Ignore the ignorant who will never know the love of a sweet old soul.
  9. I got sent this the other day
  10. Grace!  but I'm one of those people who have two cats that need to not get chomped. So unfair. lol If you have a link or want to send me the details I'll pop her in our e-news. Who wouldn't want a beautiful old dame like Grace. btw Maddy A+++ on the return policy! 5yrs, some won't even do 6 months.
  11. Very cuteness :) ----> stupid question alert (as you already know) in the long haired poundies they often have painful matting that gets clippered off. How do people make sure their corded dogs aren't hurt by their dreadlocks.... is there an art to it or a certain type of grooming? I'm guessing yes and it's a lot of work. lol
  12. Sorry it's been a while, now I can look at a few of her photos without the kind of crying that feels like a hard punch to the chest. Thank you all so much for reading her thread and being so kind. All my love. xxxxx Anna :grouphug:
  13. Oh my god. What a waste. R.I.P Pretty Ruby :rainbowbridge:
  14. I can find you half a dozen 'silky terriers' , even yorkshire Identifications, on petrescue that give me the heebies.
  15. I sometimes add our intake records to the website, in his case they are there to make a point...his wealthy owners who said he was 'just getting old' and a 'bit itchy' know that he went to us and I want them to be ashamed of themselves. They make me sick. But I'm so proud of him. On the day he arrived I think we broke the sound barrier getting him to the vet. And now he is a chubby cheeky boy.
  16. I Bert He's not ready for adoption yet, his disgusting intake photos are on the website so he's come a long way and is doing very well for himself. *distressing image*
  17. How are things going? Yet again I'm way behind! (Sorry DDD it's been a while since I popped in or had any input, there's been a lot of sadness here. But I'm still thinking of Danny. )
  18. This is something I have tried to work out re Australian ingredients and as far a I can find there is nothing govt regulated to protect consumers from anything other than the meat component. If someone can dispute that I'd me more than happy because to me it reads as if the labelling doesn't have to tell you the origin of the ingredients. some snippets Cache linked because it opens in .doc form otherwise here agriculture.gov.au eta Toxic mouldy grain is linked to Aflatoxin ingestion
  19. Not sure if it's been posted yet but the NSW Gaming Authority sent this out. 2wk extension to greyhound racing act review submissions
  20. :) Maybe the people who run the page are also the volunteers doing the fundraising and are a bit pleased with themselves. But to block you ... as long as you were being polite and not snarky then that's just plain odd. It's very possible that they've had a few comments already and now just give people the flick rather than engage.
  21. Nobody has the time to chase them. And if he is buying unchipped pets it's the previous owner who gets in trouble for not chipping. Under 8wks doesn't count either. Re-sellers approach rescue as well. They look for pets with a price they can make a good profit on. Mostly purebreds or fluffies. People complain about adoption fees but too cheap and you get vultures. One woman in Sydney was well known for it around rescue.
