  1. I can see the forms right now and downloaded a couple yesterday.
  2. Pity you are far away. :) Try the ACT groups (maybe put Goulburn in the title header) I'm sure they'll be snapped up.
  3. I had one Mum who was odd about using a litter tray, no matter how empty or if you added spares or different litter. So her kittens were also using bedding or whatever worked. It took a while of picking them up and popping them in the tray if it looked like they were going to toilet. Accidents, and several poo-toe mishaps later things got better. It was definitely stinky for a short while but she's the only cat and bubs I ever fostered that was like that. Mum settled down as her baby responsibilities got less, poor girl was only a little kitten herself when she had them so I think the whole thing was stressful for her. She had them within hours of arriving so hadn't even had time to know who i was.
  4. Gillbear is she still using either/both names or is there another change?
  5. I bet doggy is feeling much better and lilypily is in need of a strong coffee.
  6. Dogs can get a little agitated with some sedations. I can't remember the name of the condition . ACE as far as I know (and I'm no vet either btw) acts mores on the body than it does on knocking them out. Giving it a sedation affect of the body without slowing down their brain...so she may well just be a little anxious or a bit confused. Hence the breathing and still being awake and sooking. It's probably going to be a long night for you but if at any point you're still worried, call the vet again, as many times as you need. It doesn't matter how many times someone says a drug reaction is normal, you still worry. Have nice dim lights, keep things calm and if she tries to sit up but can't try propping her with a pillow. xx
  7. Far out that's a strong dog. Poor woman and her little malt. You'd never be the same again. But how are they going to find the dog? Basically look for a tall white woman with a broken dog lead.... I wish these articles had a police sketch of the dogs instead of a stock photo or nothing at all.
  8. PM'd but it's not read yet. I keep checking back here waiting for news.
  9. Not to my knowledge, but it's usually OK to put urgent impounded cats in the urgent section. :) Cat World (?) is probably one of the biggest forums, last time I looked the rescue section wasn't all that busy.
  10. Fly little Rosie. I hope you knew happiness. xxxxxxx
  11. If it comes up in conversation..."oh FatFido has slipped a disc and his knees are going, he had to go on cortisone and will need surgery" That will get a polite suggestion. "Your dog needs to go on a diet :) you dog's body cannot cope with extra weight." etc But you can't just break it to strangers that their dogs are wider than they are tall. All they take away from those conversations is that you're a nosey jerk. As the above conversation...I've even taken one of my family's dogs in under exact same circumstances, got the weight off her, got her off the steroids, got her slim and happy. She went home and they've let the weight creep back on. I keep warning them but she isn't mine and they didn't keep up with her weight watchers diet. What can you do??!!
  12. Same. "unable to wake the child despite licking and jumping on him" Fortunately it worked out well in this case but leaving a dog unattended with a sleeping 4yr old? That bit is mind boggling. At least doggy earned his permanent home. Well done Tater Tot.
  13. Norty rescuers. Impulse buys and inappropriate best-intentions homes should not be written off. You're a bunch of mean dog-hoarding crazies. Good for business then, so why the bitching?
  14. Keep the hair trimmed well away from his bottom too, some long haired dogs will scoot if there's the slightest bit of moisture or if they can feel a dingleberry. Vets can express anal glands, did he have a bit of a feel around to see if they were full?
  15. No :) currently rego still stays with the chip for life. Proposals are being tabled that will change this to yearly.
  16. Another thing with poms, if Mum hasn't kept up with his grooming and you have a lot of deep matted undercoat up against his skin, he'll be perfect for heat exhaustion this time of year. It's been hot and humid in the inner west. Vomiting, dehydration, diarrhoea etc can all be signs of heat stroke. Toy breeds need to have access to indoors where they can protect themselves from heat or cold. I really can't leave home for long ATM or I'd offer to pop in (unless you're right near the Metro?) for dogmad but please make sure you get to the vet immediately. Diagnosing things yourself and administering antibiotics that may not be appropriate is hugely risky, it can be enough to put an already debilitated dog into hospital.
  17. Protect your oldie but preserve her peace, routine and privileges around the home. Crate train the puppy. Never leave them alone. Use a leash and treats...anything to get her attention away from your oldie without loud noises. No freebie hugs and kisses without her doing something in return. At 14 weeks she going to go from uber cute to adolescent pest in no time which will only make things harder.
  18. You would think so but I'm still meeting people who hadn't thought that you actually need to update your details on the chip if they ever change or if the dog is sold. There's also nothing in the Act that differentiates between dogs flagged as stolen/lost or those that aren't. Any animal found has to be impounded within 72hrs if the owner cannot be found. Chip or no chip. (NSW)
  19. This site has heaps My link :) No I mean the one for NARGA specifically. But thanks :) Oops  brain fart: not paying attention
  20. An expansion beyond their capacity and no internal protocols is a recipe for a defunct organisation. I wish that woman well and I think she has left out a lot of the more damaging information.
  21. If the dog isn't chipped to the person claiming to own it, it could just as well have been stolen. Dogs are commonly impounded on this basis but in a normal impound situation you just put your name on the dog and adopt it back out after it's done it's time, no problem. Reprocessed and lawful. If the vet surgery isn't an approved location to hold animals for rangers to collect then yes I could easily see them say 'take the dog to the pound' (and RSPCA are running the pound in some towns so they impound and then assess for adoption once they own it). It's less confrontational for the surgery staff and fulfilling their duty per the CAA in a roundabout way. The other choice is to let the people keep a dog that may have someone looking for it. Or grab the dog, take it out the back and argue the point in the foyer. If they found the old owner, or gotten a stat dec and then gone to council instead it would have been a different story. If they knew this the dog would still be alive. re PTS for failing their temp test. I'm surprised any dog passes some of these tests.
  22. Yep, registered breeders are pretty much sitting ducks. Shame really, for the good ones to get lumped in with the dodgeys and the byb's.
  23. All said with sarcasm and a touch of bitterness! Sorry to have offended! I have a second hander myself. She's gorgeous. :) No offence taken.
