  1. News is saying possibly deliberately lit. :mad
  2. I'm watching the live traffic too. This is awful.
  3. He now has rescue with SAS :) I know Renbury's policy re breed names but they do have visual ID on recognisable breeds. Maltese, pom, JRT etc. And this boy is a tibby, not all that common but very definitely a breed with their own odd little quirks. Glad he's got rescue, he's very pretty.
  4. Ouch! No terriers would eliminate half their pet supply shoppers. No wonder it wasn't popular.
  5. I missed the disaster too. :) But glad it's given some motivation.
  6. Oh I didn't realise he was still so young! Now I'm hoping for your sake that it drops off. It's a total gem! Will photoshop it off the Christmas Card. Hahaha. I can just imagine it. Merry Christmas from Wart and his friend Gus.
  7. Oh I didn't realise he was still so young! Now I'm hoping for your sake that it drops off.
  8. Ewwww  that's a biggie!
  9. If it's confirmed harmless I usually do wart removal when they need another procedure like a dental unless it can't wait like growing on an eyelid or somewhere they can be torn, chewed or scratched off. If he hasn't been desexed yet you can always do it then. :) Desex is so quick it only adds a little extra to the time they are under anaesthetic.
  10. 8wks old is very young and small in toy breeds, I'd do puppy pen inside. Then work on outside or alone time in smaller chunks than a sudden all day break in the yard.
  11. If the chip doesn't match the new owner's name they won't register (NSW). So unless AAA have processed things and paperwork is lost in the mail, this dog's chip has to be sorted out first. Will probably involve a stat dec to sort out. Fencing..it's a worry, even if he gets through the fence and does nothing but surprise someone you'll have the rangers there. It won't matter if the person provoked him. Training forum might help you with desensitising techniques because you need to break this habit as well as making it difficult to continue. edited to add: if Rocky was listed on PetRescue you can ask them to help chase up paperwork.
  12. Eddie's family had a call today: Coles Supermarkets are sending Eddie's poster for display in all their stores covering the area from where he went missing up to home in Taree! Thank you Coles!!
  13. You can just use their site for basic info. :) If you filter it to 'available for rescue' you'll find the dogs and cats with no options. Then you can filter it by 'animals with rescue/holds' if you want to see who is taking the others. Blacktown Pound PetsOnline
  14. bump. I think the morale of everyone involved is very low at this stage. Poor Eddie.
  15. Her girl was desexed and Lasareina has stuck around despite some harsh comments. I'd take that as a win. And yep I read that thread and forced myself not to hit her over the head with my own opinions on breeding more staffy crosses. The bargain hunting comment....well now it just looks like people are taking the opportunity to pick holes in her posts. Not that it's my favourite thing to hear either but it's said with some context and without the experience some posters on here may have.
  16. You've got something in common with rescuers, sometimes it feels like what you do or give is not enough. But it all helps one dog at at time. Plus you can't buy a kind word :) and you wouldn't believe how far it goes.

Thank you Mona. There's hundreds more photos of my special man but I can't bring myself to open the library.
  18. I guess from the other thread you're talking about a particular group and I'm staying clear of that issue. :p So many opinions so little time. lol. Re: Community all doing what they can. Giving of their time, money and moral support should be given fair share of thanks. I know volunteers and donors and supporters don't do it for the credit but they all deserve it and probably don't realise how important they are.
  19. :) I know one in particular speaker who stuck in my memory. Mike Arms from the Helen Woodward Animal Centre. Turned around a failing shelter into something successful. And he is very very happy to help any rescue who asks. He even offered to open his shelter up to Aus rescuers if anyone wanted to make the trip over for training/advice and stickybeaking. ETA: I think you've taken the blend thing to the next level. Send him your poster! :D
  20. I wouldn't do it but seriously, look at the number of dogs in that shelter. The campaign may not have looked very far past the immediate effect of increasing their rehomes etc but it looks to me like it was a clever marketing strategy borne out of desperation. Really no different to using overly emotive profiles or leaving out the important bits so they get more inquiries. A while ago rescue was advised by visiting O.S. shelter managers doing speaking tours to use words like "blend" instead of crossbreed (as it's a successful tequniqe in the US) . To make it sound like an actual product. The example of coffee beans was used. Appealing to the consumer type thing. And if people believe it's all in a name and their rehomes increase what can you say? Look at what Costa Rica is dealing with and walk in their shoes.
  21. Fine needle aspiration biopsy. Simple, no GA and saves a LOT of worry: most of the time it's nothing but you'll be glad you did it, even more so if you find something nasty.
  22. animalscam.com and activistcash.com shows the paper trails re PETA activities.
