this is my latest hottie What is that loonie doing with a hyena?!! Bragging to his mates that he has the toughest dog on the block?

Don't go there. I had an anti-breeder nut email me because of our MDBA Rescue membership. You can't please everyone and honestly you will never please people who already have their mind made up. PDE isn't going to be interested. I don't think MDBA is mentioned here much anymore because of those who complain. Sad really.

Maybe they do. What's the alternative? Have police peering into cupboards and under beds until they get stabbed in the face? The dogs are effective and sometimes they get hurt, so do policemen and so do the criminals who are the ones responsible for putting cops and their dogs in harms way.

They used the dog to find him not do their job for them. He was a fugitive, had assaulted a woman, stolen property and gone on the run. I call that dangerous. & If he wasn't smart enough to come out quietly he got what he deserved. Thankfully he was too distracted by his bitten penis to gouge the dog's eyes out.

Gimp drove me mad a few years ago! Can you update on the success Pesh? I'd love to try it again but it kept freezing my computer (Mac).

Awww she really is having a rough time poor bub. Hope you're doing OK k9a. You getting her to the vet so fast will really help. Try not to stress.

Of all the things that cause those symptoms HGE is one that's non contagious and less likely to be recurrent on a regular basis like IBD. And hasn't infected the environment like parvo or giardia. It just appears out of the blue, you treat immediately (and in some cases aggressively) with everything available for gastro and while it's very scary, a healthy dog with good condition can recover just fine. We had a feeble 8wk old pup frighten us as they do  , tested negative for parvo thank god, but she did two days in hospital with lots of TLC when she got home and was no worse for wear, she went on to grow into a sturdy girl with no return of the HGE. :)

Petition Asking For The Rspca To Be Made Accountable
_PL_ replied to Perry's Mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
I cannot find anywhere that features impounded RSPCA Rutherford animals. AFAIK they have the contract to hold strays for a couple of councils, where are these animals? How are owners supposed to find their dogs when they can't all go in and check every day. Then you can write the owners and public off as irresponsible and PTS 49%. It's wrong. -
Flea bomb for carpet. Diatomaceous earth (food safe grade available at produce stores) in the yard. And Advantage - because you can use it fortnightly during flea season. I switched to it last year because monthly ones were running out at about the 2 week mark and were just a waste. Just HW and worm separately. It doesn't work out all that more expensively. You can also do a quick dose of capstar if you spot a few tough stragglers while you're getting on top of things. :)

I've got wooden floors so have researched a bit on non slip just in case. :) There are traction booties, little rubber grippers you slide onto the toenail and little grippers you stick onto the pads (I'm not sure about the safety of glueing to the pad!), and apparently a traction spray but have a look at handicappedpets.com for some ideas. I agree, get on top of the pain, support his joints, and make it easier to get around. I've been trialling what so far has been the most effective and palatable joint support powder here. (give Georgina a call if you need to quiz her about the product) BTW he's gorgeous!!

Anyone Associated With Rescue At Renbury?
_PL_ replied to mita's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
He now has rescue with SAS :) I know Renbury's policy re breed names but they do have visual ID on recognisable breeds. Maltese, pom, JRT etc. And this boy is a tibby, not all that common but very definitely a breed with their own odd little quirks. Glad he's got rescue, he's very pretty. -

Ouch! No terriers would eliminate half their pet supply shoppers. No wonder it wasn't popular. -

I missed the disaster too. :) But glad it's given some motivation. -
Oh I didn't realise he was still so young! Now I'm hoping for your sake that it drops off. It's a total gem! Will photoshop it off the Christmas Card. Hahaha. I can just imagine it. Merry Christmas from Wart and his friend Gus.

Ewwww  that's a biggie!

If it's confirmed harmless I usually do wart removal when they need another procedure like a dental unless it can't wait like growing on an eyelid or somewhere they can be torn, chewed or scratched off. If he hasn't been desexed yet you can always do it then. :) Desex is so quick it only adds a little extra to the time they are under anaesthetic.

8wks old is very young and small in toy breeds, I'd do puppy pen inside. Then work on outside or alone time in smaller chunks than a sudden all day break in the yard.

If the chip doesn't match the new owner's name they won't register (NSW). So unless AAA have processed things and paperwork is lost in the mail, this dog's chip has to be sorted out first. Will probably involve a stat dec to sort out. Fencing..it's a worry, even if he gets through the fence and does nothing but surprise someone you'll have the rangers there. It won't matter if the person provoked him. Training forum might help you with desensitising techniques because you need to break this habit as well as making it difficult to continue. edited to add: if Rocky was listed on PetRescue you can ask them to help chase up paperwork.

Did I Miss Something? Or Is It All Good News?
_PL_ replied to animal ark 22's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
You can just use their site for basic info. :) If you filter it to 'available for rescue' you'll find the dogs and cats with no options. Then you can filter it by 'animals with rescue/holds' if you want to see who is taking the others. Blacktown Pound PetsOnline -
Heartbreaking for everyone involved.

bump. I think the morale of everyone involved is very low at this stage. Poor Eddie.
